Deuteronomy 27

And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.

پھر موسیٰ نے بزرگوں سے مل کر قوم سے کہا، ”تمام ہدایات کے تابع رہو جو مَیں تمہیں آج دے رہا ہوں۔

And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaister them with plaister:

جب تم دریائے یردن کو پار کر کے اُس ملک میں داخل ہو گے جو رب تیرا خدا تجھے دے رہا ہے تو وہاں بڑے پتھر کھڑے کر کے اُن پر سفیدی کر۔

And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.

اُن پر لفظ بہ لفظ پوری شریعت لکھ۔ دریا کو پار کرنے کے بعد یہی کچھ کر تاکہ تُو اُس ملک میں داخل ہو جو رب تیرا خدا تجھے دے گا اور جس میں دودھ اور شہد کی کثرت ہے۔ کیونکہ رب تیرے باپ دادا کے خدا نے یہ دینے کا تجھ سے وعدہ کیا ہے۔

Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister.

چنانچہ یردن کو پار کر کے پتھروں کو عیبال پہاڑ پر کھڑا کرو اور اُن پر سفیدی کر۔

And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.

وہاں رب اپنے خدا کے لئے قربان گاہ بنانا۔ جو پتھر تُو اُس کے لئے استعمال کرے اُنہیں لوہے کے کسی اوزار سے نہ تراشنا۔

Thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD thy God:

صرف سالم پتھر استعمال کر۔ قربان گاہ پر رب اپنے خدا کو بھسم ہونے والی قربانیاں پیش کر۔

And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before the LORD thy God.

سلامتی کی قربانیاں بھی اُس پر چڑھا۔ اُنہیں وہاں رب اپنے خدا کے حضور کھا کر خوشی منا۔

And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.

وہاں کھڑے کئے گئے پتھروں پر شریعت کے تمام الفاظ صاف صاف لکھے جائیں۔“

And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.

پھر موسیٰ نے لاوی کے قبیلے کے اماموں سے مل کر تمام اسرائیلیوں سے کہا، ”اے اسرائیل، خاموشی سے سن۔ اب تُو رب اپنے خدا کی قوم بن گیا ہے،

Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the LORD thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.

اِس لئے اُس کا فرماں بردار رہ اور اُس کے اُن احکام پر عمل کر جو مَیں تجھے آج دے رہا ہوں۔“

And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,

اُسی دن موسیٰ نے اسرائیلیوں کو حکم دے کر کہا،

These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:

”دریائے یردن کو پار کرنے کے بعد شمعون، لاوی، یہوداہ، اِشکار، یوسف اور بن یمین کے قبیلے گرزیم پہاڑ پر کھڑے ہو جائیں۔ وہاں وہ برکت کے الفاظ بولیں۔

And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

باقی قبیلے یعنی روبن، جد، آشر، زبولون، دان اور نفتالی عیبال پہاڑ پر کھڑے ہو کر لعنت کے الفاظ بولیں۔

And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,

پھر لاوی تمام لوگوں سے مخاطب ہو کر اونچی آواز سے کہیں،

Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.

’اُس پر لعنت جو بُت تراش کر یا ڈھال کر چپکے سے کھڑا کرے۔ رب کو کاری گر کے ہاتھوں سے بنی ہوئی ایسی چیز سے گھن ہے۔‘ جواب میں سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘

Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

پھر لاوی کہیں، ’اُس پر لعنت جو اپنے باپ یا ماں کی تحقیر کرے۔‘ سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘

Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.

’اُس پر لعنت جو اپنے پڑوسی کی زمین کی حدود آگے پیچھے کرے۔‘ سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘

Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.

’اُس پر لعنت جو کسی اندھے کی راہنمائی کر کے اُسے غلط راستے پر لے جائے۔‘ سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘

Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.

’اُس پر لعنت جو پردیسیوں، یتیموں یا بیواؤں کے حقوق قائم نہ رکھے۔‘ سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘

Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he uncovereth his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.

’اُس پر لعنت جو اپنے باپ کی بیوی سے ہم بستر ہو جائے، کیونکہ وہ اپنے باپ کی بےحرمتی کرتا ہے۔‘ سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘

Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.

’اُس پر لعنت جو جانور سے جنسی تعلق رکھے۔‘ سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘

Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

’اُس پر لعنت جو اپنی سگی بہن، اپنے باپ کی بیٹی یا اپنی ماں کی بیٹی سے ہم بستر ہو جائے۔‘ سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘

Cursed be he that lieth with his mother in law. And all the people shall say, Amen.

’اُس پر لعنت جو اپنی ساس سے ہم بستر ہو جائے۔‘ سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘

Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen.

’اُس پر لعنت جو چپکے سے اپنے ہم وطن کو قتل کر دے۔‘ سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘

Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.

’اُس پر لعنت جو پیسے لے کر کسی بےقصور شخص کو قتل کرے۔‘ سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘

Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

’اُس پر لعنت جو اِس شریعت کی باتیں قائم نہ رکھے، نہ اِن پر عمل کرے۔‘ سب لوگ کہیں، ’آمین!‘
