I Kings 13

And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto Beth–el: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense.

وہ ابھی قربان گاہ کے پاس کھڑا اپنی قربانیاں پیش کرنا ہی چاہتا تھا کہ ایک مردِ خدا آن پہنچا۔ رب نے اُسے یہوداہ سے بیت ایل بھیج دیا تھا۔

And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee.

بلند آواز سے وہ قربان گاہ سے مخاطب ہوا، ”اے قربان گاہ! اے قربان گاہ! رب فرماتا ہے، ’داؤد کے گھرانے سے بیٹا پیدا ہو گا جس کا نام یوسیاہ ہو گا۔ تجھ پر وہ اُن اماموں کو قربان کر دے گا جو اونچی جگہوں کے مندروں میں خدمت کرتے اور یہاں قربانیاں پیش کرنے کے لئے آتے ہیں۔ تجھ پر انسانوں کی ہڈیاں جلائی جائیں گی‘۔“

And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.

پھر مردِ خدا نے الٰہی نشان بھی پیش کیا۔ اُس نے اعلان کیا، ”ایک نشان ثابت کرے گا کہ رب میری معرفت بات کر رہا ہے! یہ قربان گاہ پھٹ جائے گی، اور اِس پر موجود چربی ملی راکھ زمین پر بکھر جائے گی۔“

And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Beth–el, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.

یرُبعام بادشاہ اب تک قربان گاہ کے پاس کھڑا تھا۔ جب اُس نے بیت ایل کی قربان گاہ کے خلاف مردِ خدا کی بات سنی تو وہ ہاتھ سے اُس کی طرف اشارہ کر کے گرجا، ”اُسے پکڑو!“ لیکن جوں ہی بادشاہ نے اپنا ہاتھ بڑھایا وہ سوکھ گیا، اور وہ اُسے واپس نہ کھینچ سکا۔

The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.

اُسی لمحے قربان گاہ پھٹ گئی اور اُس پر موجود راکھ زمین پر بکھر گئی۔ بالکل وہی کچھ ہوا جس کا اعلان مردِ خدا نے رب کی طرف سے کیا تھا۔

And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

تب بادشاہ التماس کرنے لگا، ”رب اپنے خدا کا غصہ ٹھنڈا کر کے میرے لئے دعا کریں تاکہ میرا ہاتھ بحال ہو جائے۔“ مردِ خدا نے اُس کی شفاعت کی تو یرُبعام کا ہاتھ فوراً بحال ہو گیا۔

And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.

تب یرُبعام بادشاہ نے مردِ خدا کو دعوت دی، ”آئیں، میرے گھر میں کھانا کھا کر تازہ دم ہو جائیں۔ مَیں آپ کو تحفہ بھی دوں گا۔“

And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:

لیکن اُس نے انکار کیا، ”مَیں آپ کے پاس نہیں آؤں گا، چاہے آپ مجھے اپنی ملکیت کا آدھا حصہ کیوں نہ دیں۔ مَیں یہاں نہ روٹی کھاؤں گا، نہ کچھ پیؤں گا۔

For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.

کیونکہ رب نے مجھے حکم دیا ہے، ’راستے میں نہ کچھ کھا اور نہ کچھ پی۔ اور واپس جاتے وقت وہ راستہ نہ لے جس پر سے تُو بیت ایل پہنچا ہے‘۔“

So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Beth–el.

یہ کہہ کر وہ فرق راستہ اختیار کر کے اپنے گھر کے لئے روانہ ہوا۔

Now there dwelt an old prophet in Beth–el; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Beth–el: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.

بیت ایل میں ایک بوڑھا نبی رہتا تھا۔ جب اُس کے بیٹے اُس دن گھر واپس آئے تو اُنہوں نے اُسے سب کچھ کہہ سنایا جو مردِ خدا نے بیت ایل میں کیا اور یرُبعام بادشاہ کو بتایا تھا۔

And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.

باپ نے پوچھا، ”وہ کس طرف گیا؟“ بیٹوں نے اُسے وہ راستہ بتایا جو یہوداہ کے مردِ خدا نے لیا تھا۔

And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon,

باپ نے حکم دیا، ”میرے گدھے پر جلدی سے زِین کسو!“ بیٹوں نے ایسا کیا تو وہ اُس پر بیٹھ کر

And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.

مردِ خدا کو ڈھونڈنے گیا۔ چلتے چلتے مردِ خدا بلوط کے درخت کے سائے میں بیٹھا نظر آیا۔ بزرگ نے پوچھا، ”کیا آپ وہی مردِ خدا ہیں جو یہوداہ سے بیت ایل آئے تھے؟“ اُس نے جواب دیا، ”جی، مَیں وہی ہوں۔“

Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread.

بزرگ نبی نے اُسے دعوت دی، ”آئیں، میرے ساتھ۔ مَیں گھر میں آپ کو کچھ کھانا کھلاتا ہوں۔“

And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:

لیکن مردِ خدا نے انکار کیا، ”نہیں، نہ مَیں آپ کے ساتھ واپس جا سکتا ہوں، نہ مجھے یہاں کھانے پینے کی اجازت ہے۔

For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.

کیونکہ رب نے مجھے حکم دیا، ’راستے میں نہ کچھ کھا اور نہ کچھ پی۔ اور واپس جاتے وقت وہ راستہ نہ لے جس پر سے تُو بیت ایل پہنچا ہے‘۔“

He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

بزرگ نبی نے اعتراض کیا، ”مَیں بھی آپ جیسا نبی ہوں! ایک فرشتے نے مجھے رب کا نیا پیغام پہنچا کر کہا، ’اُسے اپنے ساتھ گھر لے جا کر روٹی کھلا اور پانی پلا‘۔“ بزرگ جھوٹ بول رہا تھا،

So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.

لیکن مردِ خدا اُس کے ساتھ واپس گیا اور اُس کے گھر میں کچھ کھایا اور پیا۔

And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came unto the prophet that brought him back:

وہ ابھی وہاں بیٹھے کھانا کھا رہے تھے کہ بزرگ پر رب کا کلام نازل ہوا۔

And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandment which the LORD thy God commanded thee,

اُس نے بلند آواز سے یہوداہ کے مردِ خدا سے کہا، ”رب فرماتا ہے، ’تُو نے رب کے کلام کی خلاف ورزی کی ہے! جو حکم رب تیرے خدا نے تجھے دیا تھا وہ تُو نے نظرانداز کیا ہے۔

But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the LORD did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers.

گو اُس نے فرمایا تھا کہ یہاں نہ کچھ کھا اور نہ کچھ پی توبھی تُو نے واپس آ کر یہاں روٹی کھائی اور پانی پیا ہے۔ اِس لئے مرتے وقت تجھے تیرے باپ دادا کی قبر میں دفنایا نہیں جائے گا‘۔“

And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back.

کھانے کے بعد بزرگ کے گدھے پر زِین کسا گیا اور مردِ خدا کو اُس پر بٹھایا گیا۔

And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase.

وہ دوبارہ روانہ ہوا تو راستے میں ایک شیرببر نے اُس پر حملہ کر کے اُسے مار ڈالا۔ لیکن اُس نے لاش کو نہ چھیڑا بلکہ وہ وہیں راستے میں پڑی رہی جبکہ گدھا اور شیر دونوں ہی اُس کے پاس کھڑے رہے۔

And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.

کچھ لوگ وہاں سے گزرے۔ جب اُنہوں نے لاش کو راستے میں پڑے اور شیرببر کو اُس کے پاس کھڑے دیکھا تو اُنہوں نے بیت ایل جہاں بزرگ نبی رہتا تھا آ کر لوگوں کو اطلاع دی۔

And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake unto him.

جب بزرگ کو خبر ملی تو اُس نے کہا، ”وہی مردِ خدا ہے جس نے رب کے فرمان کی خلاف ورزی کی۔ اب وہ کچھ ہوا ہے جو رب نے اُسے فرمایا تھا یعنی اُس نے اُسے شیرببر کے حوالے کر دیا تاکہ وہ اُسے پھاڑ کر مار ڈالے۔“

And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled him.

بزرگ نے اپنے بیٹوں کو گدھے پر زِین کسنے کا حکم دیا،

And he went and found his carcase cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the carcase: the lion had not eaten the carcase, nor torn the ass.

اور وہ اُس پر بیٹھ کر روانہ ہوا۔ جب وہاں پہنچا تو دیکھا کہ لاش اب تک راستے میں پڑی ہے اور گدھا اور شیر دونوں ہی اُس کے پاس کھڑے ہیں۔ شیرببر نے نہ لاش کو چھیڑا اور نہ گدھے کو پھاڑا تھا۔

And the prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him.

بزرگ نبی نے لاش کو اُٹھا کر اپنے گدھے پر رکھا اور اُسے بیت ایل لایا تاکہ اُس کا ماتم کر کے اُسے وہاں دفنائے۔

And he laid his carcase in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, Alas, my brother!

اُس نے لاش کو اپنی خاندانی قبر میں دفن کیا، اور لوگوں نے ”ہائے، میرے بھائی“ کہہ کر اُس کا ماتم کیا۔

And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:

جنازے کے بعد بزرگ نبی نے اپنے بیٹوں سے کہا، ”جب مَیں کوچ کر جاؤں گا تو مجھے مردِ خدا کی قبر میں دفنانا۔ میری ہڈیوں کو اُس کی ہڈیوں کے پاس ہی رکھیں۔

For the saying which he cried by the word of the LORD against the altar in Beth–el, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.

کیونکہ جو باتیں اُس نے رب کے حکم پر بیت ایل کی قربان گاہ اور سامریہ کے شہروں کی اونچی جگہوں کے مندروں کے بارے میں کی ہیں وہ یقیناً پوری ہو جائیں گی۔“

After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.

اِن واقعات کے باوجود یرُبعام اپنی شریر حرکتوں سے باز نہ آیا۔ عام لوگوں کو امام بنانے کا سلسلہ جاری رہا۔ جو کوئی بھی امام بننا چاہتا اُسے وہ اونچی جگہوں کے مندروں میں خدمت کرنے کے لئے مخصوص کرتا تھا۔

And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth.

یرُبعام کے گھرانے کے اِس سنگین گناہ کی وجہ سے وہ آخرکار تباہ ہوا اور رُوئے زمین پر سے مٹ گیا۔
