I Kings 14

At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

ایک دن یرُبعام کا بیٹا ابیاہ بہت بیمار ہوا۔

And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.

تب یرُبعام نے اپنی بیوی سے کہا، ”جا کر اپنا بھیس بدلیں تاکہ کوئی نہ پہچانے کہ آپ میری بیوی ہیں۔ پھر سَیلا جائیں۔ وہاں اخیاہ نبی رہتا ہے جس نے مجھے اطلاع دی تھی کہ مَیں اِس قوم کا بادشاہ بن جاؤں گا۔

And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.

اُس کے پاس دس روٹیاں، کچھ بسکٹ اور شہد کا مرتبان لے جائیں۔ وہ آدمی آپ کو ضرور بتا دے گا کہ لڑکے کے ساتھ کیا ہو جائے گا۔“

And Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

چنانچہ یرُبعام کی بیوی اپنا بھیس بدل کر روانہ ہوئی اور چلتے چلتے سَیلا میں اخیاہ کے گھر پہنچ گئی۔ اخیاہ عمر رسیدہ ہونے کے باعث دیکھ نہیں سکتا تھا۔

And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.

لیکن رب نے اُسے آگاہ کر دیا، ”یرُبعام کی بیوی تجھ سے ملنے آ رہی ہے تاکہ اپنے بیمار بیٹے کے بارے میں معلومات حاصل کرے۔ لیکن وہ اپنا بھیس بدل کر آئے گی تاکہ اُسے پہچانا نہ جائے۔“ پھر رب نے نبی کو بتایا کہ اُسے کیا جواب دینا ہے۔

And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.

جب اخیاہ نے عورت کے قدموں کی آہٹ سنی تو بولا، ”یرُبعام کی بیوی، اندر آئیں! روپ بھرنے کی کیا ضرورت؟ مجھے آپ کو بُری خبر پہنچانی ہے۔

Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel,

جائیں، یرُبعام کو رب اسرائیل کے خدا کی طرف سے پیغام دیں، ’مَیں نے تجھے لوگوں میں سے چن کر کھڑا کیا اور اپنی قوم اسرائیل پر بادشاہ بنا دیا۔

And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes;

مَیں نے بادشاہی کو داؤد کے گھرانے سے چھین کر تجھے دے دیا۔ لیکن افسوس، تُو میرے خادم داؤد کی طرح زندگی نہیں گزارتا جو میرے احکام کے تابع رہ کر پورے دل سے میری پیروی کرتا رہا اور ہمیشہ وہ کچھ کرتا تھا جو مجھے پسند تھا۔

But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:

جو تجھ سے پہلے تھے اُن کی نسبت تُو نے کہیں زیادہ بدی کی، کیونکہ تُو نے بُت ڈھال کر اپنے لئے دیگر معبود بنائے ہیں اور یوں مجھے طیش دلایا۔ چونکہ تُو نے اپنا منہ مجھ سے پھیر لیا

Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.

اِس لئے مَیں تیرے خاندان کو مصیبت میں ڈال دوں گا۔ اسرائیل میں مَیں یرُبعام کے تمام مردوں کو ہلاک کر دوں گا، خواہ وہ بچے ہوں یا بالغ۔ جس طرح گوبر کو جھاڑو دے کر دُور کیا جاتا ہے اُسی طرح یرُبعام کے گھرانے کا نام و نشان مٹ جائے گا۔

Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat: for the LORD hath spoken it.

تم میں سے جو شہر میں مریں گے اُنہیں کُتے کھا جائیں گے، اور جو کھلے میدان میں مریں گے اُنہیں پرندے چٹ کر جائیں گے۔ کیونکہ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے‘۔“

Arise thou therefore, get thee to thine own house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

پھر اخیاہ نے یرُبعام کی بیوی سے کہا، ”آپ اپنے گھر واپس چلی جائیں۔ جوں ہی آپ شہر میں داخل ہوں گی لڑکا فوت ہو جائے گا۔

And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.

پورا اسرائیل اُس کا ماتم کر کے اُسے دفن کرے گا۔ وہ آپ کے خاندان کا واحد فرد ہو گا جسے صحیح طور سے دفنایا جائے گا۔ کیونکہ رب اسرائیل کے خدا نے صرف اُسی میں کچھ پایا جو اُسے پسند تھا۔

Moreover the LORD shall raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day: but what? even now.

رب اسرائیل پر ایک بادشاہ مقرر کرے گا جو یرُبعام کے خاندان کو ہلاک کرے گا۔ آج ہی سے یہ سلسلہ شروع ہو جائے گا۔

For the LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.

رب اسرائیل کو بھی سزا دے گا، کیونکہ وہ یسیرت دیوی کے کھمبے بنا کر اُن کی پوجا کرتے ہیں۔ چونکہ وہ رب کو طیش دلاتے رہے ہیں، اِس لئے وہ اُنہیں مارے گا، اور وہ پانی میں سرکنڈے کی طرح ہل جائیں گے۔ رب اُنہیں اِس اچھے ملک سے اُکھاڑ کر دریائے فرات کے پار منتشر کر دے گا۔

And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin.

یوں وہ اسرائیل کو اُن گناہوں کے باعث ترک کرے گا جو یرُبعام نے کئے اور اسرائیل کو کرنے پر اُکسایا ہے۔“

And Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died;

یرُبعام کی بیوی تِرضہ میں اپنے گھر واپس چلی گئی۔ اور گھر کے دروازے میں داخل ہوتے ہی اُس کا بیٹا مر گیا۔

And they buried him; and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the prophet.

تمام اسرائیل نے اُسے دفنا کر اُس کا ماتم کیا۔ سب کچھ ویسے ہوا جیسے رب نے اپنے خادم اخیاہ نبی کی معرفت فرمایا تھا۔

And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

باقی جو کچھ یرُبعام کی زندگی کے بارے میں لکھا ہے وہ ’شاہانِ اسرائیل کی تاریخ‘ کی کتاب میں درج ہے۔ اُس کتاب میں پڑھا جا سکتا ہے کہ وہ کس طرح حکومت کرتا تھا اور اُس نے کون کون سی جنگیں کیں۔

And the days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.

یرُبعام 22 سال بادشاہ رہا۔ جب وہ مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا تو اُس کا بیٹا ندب تخت نشین ہوا۔

And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

یہوداہ میں رحبعام بن سلیمان حکومت کرتا تھا۔ اُس کی ماں نعمہ عمونی تھی۔ 41 سال کی عمر میں وہ تخت نشین ہوا اور 17 سال بادشاہ رہا۔ اُس کا دار الحکومت یروشلم تھا، وہ شہر جسے رب نے تمام اسرائیلی قبیلوں میں سے چن لیا تاکہ اُس میں اپنا نام قائم کرے۔

And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.

لیکن یہوداہ کے باشندے بھی ایسی حرکتیں کرتے تھے جو رب کو ناپسند تھیں۔ اپنے گناہوں سے وہ اُسے طیش دلاتے رہے، کیونکہ اُن کے یہ گناہ اُن کے باپ دادا کے گناہوں سے کہیں زیادہ سنگین تھے۔

For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.

اُنہوں نے بھی اونچی جگہوں پر مندر بنائے۔ ہر اونچی پہاڑی پر اور ہر گھنے درخت کے سائے میں اُنہوں نے مخصوص پتھر یا یسیرت دیوی کے کھمبے کھڑے کئے،

And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

یہاں تک کہ مندروں میں جسم فروش مرد اور عورتیں تھے۔ غرض، اُنہوں نے اُن قوموں کے تمام گھنونے رسم و رواج اپنا لئے جن کو رب نے اسرائیلیوں کے آگے آگے نکال دیا تھا۔

And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem:

رحبعام بادشاہ کی حکومت کے پانچویں سال میں مصر کے بادشاہ سیسق نے یروشلم پر حملہ کر کے

And he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

رب کے گھر اور شاہی محل کے تمام خزانے لُوٹ لئے۔ سونے کی وہ ڈھالیں بھی چھین لی گئیں جو سلیمان نے بنوائی تھیں۔

And king Rehoboam made in their stead brasen shields, and committed them unto the hands of the chief of the guard, which kept the door of the king's house.

اِن کی جگہ رحبعام نے پیتل کی ڈھالیں بنوائیں اور اُنہیں اُن محافظوں کے افسروں کے سپرد کیا جو شاہی محل کے دروازے کی پہرہ داری کرتے تھے۔

And it was so, when the king went into the house of the LORD, that the guard bare them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.

جب بھی بادشاہ رب کے گھر میں جاتا تب محافظ یہ ڈھالیں اُٹھا کر ساتھ لے جاتے۔ اِس کے بعد وہ اُنہیں پہرے داروں کے کمرے میں واپس لے جاتے تھے۔

Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

باقی جو کچھ رحبعام بادشاہ کی حکومت کے دوران ہوا اور جو کچھ اُس نے کیا وہ ’شاہانِ یہوداہ کی تاریخ‘ کی کتاب میں درج ہے۔

And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.

دونوں بادشاہوں رحبعام اور یرُبعام کے جیتے جی اُن کے درمیان جنگ جاری رہی۔

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.

جب رحبعام مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا تو اُسے یروشلم کے اُس حصے میں جو ’داؤد کا شہر‘ کہلاتا ہے خاندانی قبر میں دفنایا گیا۔ اُس کی ماں نعمہ عمونی تھی۔ پھر رحبعام کا بیٹا ابیاہ تخت نشین ہوا۔
