Galatians 5

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Annakokáért a szabadságban, melyre minket Krisztus megszabadított, álljatok meg, és ne kötelezzétek meg ismét magatokat szolgaságnak igájával.

Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

Ímé, én Pál mondom néktek, hogy ha körülmetélkedtek, Krisztus néktek semmit sem használ.

For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

Bizonyságot teszek pedig ismét minden embernek, a ki körülmetélkedik, hogy köteles az egész törvényt megtartani.

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Elszakadtatok Krisztustól, a kik a törvény által akartok megigazulni, a kegyelemből kiestetek.

For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

Mert mi a Lélek által, hitből várjuk az igazság reménységét.

For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Mert Krisztus Jézusban sem a körülmetélkedés nem ér semmit, sem a körülmetélkedetlenség, hanem a szeretet által munkálkodó hit.

Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

Jól futottatok; kicsoda gátolt meg titeket, hogy ne engedelmeskedjetek az igazságnak?

This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.

Ez a hitetés nem attól van, a ki titeket hív.

A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

Kis kovász az egész tésztát megkeleszti.

I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.

Bizodalmam van az Úrban ti hozzátok, hogy más értelemben nem lesztek; de a ki titeket megzavar, elveszi az ítéletet, bárki legyen.

And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

Én pedig atyámfiai, ha még a körülmetélést hirdetem, miért üldöztetem mégis? Akkor eltöröltetett a kereszt botránya.

I would they were even cut off which trouble you.

Bárcsak ki is metszetnék magukat, a kik titeket bujtogatnak.

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Mert ti szabadságra hivattatok atyámfiai; csakhogy a szabadság ürügy ne legyen a testnek, sőt szeretettel szolgáljatok egymásnak.

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Mert az egész törvény ez egy ígében teljesedik be: Szeresd felebarátodat, mint magadat.

But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

Ha pedig egymást marjátok és faljátok, vigyázzatok, hogy egymást fel ne emészszétek.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Mondom pedig, Lélek szerint járjatok, és a testnek kívánságát véghez ne vigyétek.

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Mert a test a lélek ellen törekedik, a lélek pedig a test ellen; ezek pedig egymással ellenkeznek, hogy ne azokat cselekedjétek, a miket akartok.

But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Ha azonban a Lélektől vezéreltettek, nem vagytok a törvény alatt.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

A testnek cselekedetei pedig nyilvánvalók, melyek *ezek:* házasságtörés, paráznaság, tisztátalanság, bujálkodás.

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Bálványimádás, varázslás, ellenségeskedések, versengések, gyűlölködések, harag, patvarkodások, viszszavonások, pártütések,

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Irígységek, gyilkosságok, részegségek, dobzódások és ezekhez hasonlók: melyekről előre mondom néktek, a miképen már ezelőtt is mondottam, hogy a kik ilyeneket cselekesznek, Isten országának örökösei nem lesznek.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

De a Léleknek gyümölcse: szeretet, öröm, békesség, béketűrés, szívesség, jóság, hűség, szelídség, mértékletesség.

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Az ilyenek ellen nincs törvény.

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

A kik pedig Krisztuséi, a testet megfeszítették indulataival és kívánságaival együtt.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Ha Lélek szerint élünk, Lélek szerint is járjunk.

Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Ne legyünk hiú dicsőség kívánók, egymást ingerlők, egymásra irígykedők.
