Philemon 1

Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,

از طرف پولس كه به‌خاطر عیسی مسیح زندانی است و تیموتاؤس، برادر ما به دوست و همكار ما فِلیمُون

And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house:

و به كلیسایی كه در خانهٔ تو تشكیل می‌شود و به خواهر ما «بانو اپفیه» و «ارخیپس» همكار ما، این نامه تقدیم می‌گردد.

Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

پدر ما خدا و عیسی مسیح خداوند، فیض و آرامش به شما عطا فرمایند.

I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,

هروقت كه دعا می‌کنم، نام تو را به زبان می‌آورم و پیوسته خدای خود را شكر می‌کنم

Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;

چون از محبّت تو و ایمانی كه به عیسی خداوند و جمیع مقدّسین داری آگاه هستم.

That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

و دعای من این است كه اتّحاد ما با هم در ایمان باعث شود كه دانش ما به همهٔ بركاتی كه در مسیح داریم، افزوده شود.

For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.

ای برادر، محبّت تو برای من شادی عظیم و دلگرمی بسیار پدید آورده است، زیرا دلهای مقدّسین به وسیلهٔ تو، نیرویی تازه گرفته است.

Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,

بنابراین اگرچه من در اتّحاد خود با مسیح حقّ دارم كه جسارت كرده دستور بدهم كه وظایف خود را انجام دهی،

Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

امّا به‌خاطر محبّت، صلاح می‌دانم از تو درخواست كنم: من، پولس كه سفیر مسیح عیسی و در حال حاضر به‌خاطر او زندانی هستم،

I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:

از جانب فرزند خود «اونیسیموس» كه در زمان زندان خود پدر روحانی او شدم، از تو تقاضایی دارم.

Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:

او زمانی برای تو مفید نبود، ولی اكنون هم برای تو و هم برای من مفید است.

Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:

اكنون كه او را پیش تو روانه می‌کنم، مثل این است كه قلب خود را برای تو می‌فرستم.

Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:

خوشحال می‌شدم كه او را پیش خود نگاه دارم تا در این مدّتی كه به‌خاطر انجیل زندانی هستم، او به جای تو مرا خدمت كند.

But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.

امّا بهتر دانستم كه بدون موافقت تو كاری نكنم تا نیكویی تو نه از روی اجبار، بلكه داوطلبانه باشد.

For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;

شاید علّت جدایی موقّت او از تو، این بود كه او را برای همیشه بازیابی!

Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?

و البتّه نه مثل یک غلام، بلكه بالاتر از آن یعنی به عنوان یک برادر عزیز. او مخصوصاً برای من عزیز است و چقدر بیشتر باید برای تو به عنوان یک انسان و یک برادر مسیحی عزیز باشد.

If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.

پس اگر مرا دوست واقعی خود می‌دانی، همان‌طور كه مرا می‌پذیرفتی او را بپذیر.

If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;

و اگر به تو بدی كرده است یا چیزی به تو بدهكار است آن را به حساب من بگذار.

I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.

من این را با دست خودم می‌نویسم: «من، پولس، آن را به تو پس خواهم داد.» نمی‌گویم كه تو حتّی جان خود را هم به من مدیونی.

Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.

آری، ای برادر، چون در خداوند متّحد هستیم و می‌خواهم از تو بهره‌ای ببینم، به عنوان یک برادر مسیحی به قلب من نیروی تازه‌ای ببخش.

Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.

من با اعتماد به اطاعت تو و با دانستن اینکه آنچه من می‌گویم و حتّی بیشتر از آن را هم انجام خواهی داد، این را به تو می‌نویسم.

But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.

در ضمن اتاقی برای من آماده كن، زیرا امیدوارم كه خدا دعاهای شما را مستجاب كرده، مرا به شما برگرداند.

There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus;

«اپفراس» كه به‌خاطر مسیح عیسی با من در زندان است، به تو سلام می‌رساند

Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.

و همچنین همكاران من «مرقس»، «اَرِسْتَرخُس»، «دیماس» و «لوقا» به تو سلام می‌رسانند.
