Acts 19

А когато Аполос беше в Коринт, Павел, след като беше минал през горните страни, дойде в Ефес и намери някои ученици.

And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

И им каза: Приехте ли Светия Дух, като повярвахте? А те му отговориха: Даже не сме чули дали има Свети Дух.

He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

И каза: А в какво се кръстихте? А те рекоха: В Йоановото кръщение.

And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

А Павел каза: Йоан е кръщавал с кръщението на покаяние, като е казвал на народа да вярва в Този, който щеше да дойде след него, тоест в Иисус.

Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

И като чуха това, се кръстиха в Името на Господ Иисус.

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

И когато Павел положи ръце на тях, Светият Дух дойде на тях; и говореха на езици и пророкуваха.

And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

И те всички бяха около дванадесет мъже.

And all the men were about twelve.

И той влезе в синагогата и говореше дръзновено, и в продължение на три месеца разискваше и ги убеждаваше за неща, отнасящи се до Божието царство.

And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.

А понеже някои се закоравяваха и не вярваха, а злословеха учението пред множеството, той се оттегли от тях и отдели учениците; и разискваше всеки ден в училището на Тиран.

But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.

И това продължи две години, така че всички, които живееха в Азия – и юдеи, и гърци – чуха Господното слово.

And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

При това Бог вършеше необикновени чудеса чрез ръцете на Павел,

And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

така че дори когато носеха кърпи или престилки от неговото тяло на болните, болестите се отмахваха от тях и злите духове излизаха.

So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

А някои от юдейските странстващи заклинатели предприеха да произнасят Името на Господ Иисус над тези, които имаха зли духове, като казваха: Заклеваме ви в Иисус, когото Павел проповядва.

Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

Имаше седем сина на един юдеин Скева, главен свещеник, които вършеха това.

And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

Но злият дух в отговор им каза: Иисус познавам и Павел зная, но вие кои сте?

And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

И човекът, в когото беше злият дух, скочи върху тях и като ги надви, взе надмощие над тях, така че те избягаха от онази къща голи и ранени.

And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

И това стана известно на всички ефески жители – и юдеи, и гърци – и страх обзе всички тях, и Името на Господ Иисус се възвеличаваше.

And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

И мнозина от повярвалите идваха и се изповядваха, и разказваха делата си.

And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.

Също мнозина и от тези, които правеха магии, донасяха книгите си и ги изгаряха пред всичките; и като пресметнаха цената им, намериха, че беше петдесет хиляди сребърника.

Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

Така Господното слово растеше силно и вземаше надмощие.

So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

И като свърши това, Павел си постави за цел в Духа да отиде в Ерусалим, след като обиколи Македония и Ахая, като каза: След като постоя там, трябва да видя и Рим.

After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.

И прати в Македония двама от тези, които му помагаха – Тимотей и Ераст – а той остана още известно време в Азия.

So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.

А по онова време се надигна голямо вълнение относно Господното учение.

And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.

Защото един златар на име Димитри, който правеше сребърни храмчета на Артемида и докарваше не малко печалба на занаятчиите,

For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;

като събра и тях, и онези, които работеха подобни неща, каза: Мъже, вие знаете, че от тази работа идва нашето богатство.

Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.

И вие виждате и чувате, че не само в Ефес, а почти в цяла Азия този Павел е убедил и обърнал голямо множество, казвайки, че не са богове тези, които са направени от ръка.

Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:

И има опасност не само това наше занятие да изпадне в презрение, но и храмът на великата богиня Артемида да не се счита за нищо и даже да се свали от величието си онази, на която цяла Азия и светът се покланят.

So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.

Като чуха, те се изпълниха с гняв и завикаха: Велика е ефеската Артемида!

And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

И смущението се разпространи по целия град. И като уловиха македонците Гай и Аристарх, спътниците на Павел, единодушно се спуснаха в театъра.

And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.

А когато Павел искаше да влезе вътре между народа, учениците не го пуснаха.

And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.

Тогава някои от азиархите, които му бяха приятели, изпратиха до него да го помолят да не се показва в театъра.

And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.

И така, едни викаха едно, други – друго; защото събранието се беше объркало и повечето не знаеха защо се бяха събрали.

Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.

А някои от множеството изкараха Александър да говори, понеже юдеите посочиха него. И Александър помаха с ръка и искаше да държи защитна реч пред народа.

And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defence unto the people.

Но като познаха, че е юдеин, всички закрещяха едногласно и около два часа викаха: Велика е ефеската Артемида!

But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

Тогава градският писар, като въдвори тишина между множеството, каза: Ефесяни, кой е онзи човек, който не знае, че град Ефес е пазач на храма на великата Артемида и на падналия от небето?

And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?

И така, понеже това е неоспоримо, вие трябва да бъдете мирни и да не правите нищо необмислено.

Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.

Защото сте довели тези хора, които нито крадат храмове, нито хулят нашата богиня.

For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.

И така, ако Димитри и занаятчиите, които са с него, имат спор с някого, съдилищата са отворени и има съдебни чиновници, нека се съдят едни други.

Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.

Но ако търсите нещо друго, то ще се реши в законното събрание.

But if ye enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.

Защото има опасност да ни обвинят заради днешната размирица, понеже няма никаква причина, с която да можем да оправдаем това сборище.

For we are in danger to be called in question for this day's uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.

И като каза това, разпусна събранието.

And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
