Matthew 8

When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

عیسیٰ پہاڑ سے اُترا تو بڑی بھیڑ اُس کے پیچھے چلنے لگی۔

And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

پھر ایک آدمی اُس کے پاس آیا جو کوڑھ کا مریض تھا۔ منہ کے بل گر کر اُس نے کہا، ”خداوند، اگر آپ چاہیں تو مجھے پاک صاف کر سکتے ہیں۔“

And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

عیسیٰ نے اپنا ہاتھ بڑھا کر اُسے چھوا اور کہا، ”مَیں چاہتا ہوں، پاک صاف ہو جا۔“ اِس پر وہ فوراً اُس بیماری سے پاک صاف ہو گیا۔

And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

عیسیٰ نے اُس سے کہا، ”خبردار! یہ بات کسی کو نہ بتانا بلکہ بیت المُقدّس میں امام کے پاس جا تاکہ وہ تیرا معائنہ کرے۔ اپنے ساتھ وہ قربانی لے جا جس کا تقاضا موسیٰ کی شریعت اُن سے کرتی ہے جنہیں کوڑھ سے شفا ملی ہے۔ یوں علانیہ تصدیق ہو جائے گی کہ تُو واقعی پاک صاف ہو گیا ہے۔“

And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

جب عیسیٰ کفرنحوم میں داخل ہوا تو سَو فوجیوں پر مقرر ایک افسر اُس کے پاس آ کر اُس کی منت کرنے لگا،

And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

”خداوند، میرا غلام مفلوج حالت میں گھر میں پڑا ہے، اور اُسے شدید درد ہو رہا ہے۔“

And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

عیسیٰ نے اُس سے کہا، ”مَیں آ کر اُسے شفا دوں گا۔“

The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

افسر نے جواب دیا، ”نہیں خداوند، مَیں اِس لائق نہیں کہ آپ میرے گھر جائیں۔ بس یہیں سے حکم کریں تو میرا غلام شفا پا جائے گا۔

For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

کیونکہ مجھے خود اعلیٰ افسروں کے حکم پر چلنا پڑتا ہے اور میرے ماتحت بھی فوجی ہیں۔ ایک کو کہتا ہوں، ’جا!‘ تو وہ جاتا ہے اور دوسرے کو ’آ!‘ تو وہ آتا ہے۔ اِسی طرح مَیں اپنے نوکر کو حکم دیتا ہوں، ’یہ کر‘ تو وہ کرتا ہے۔“

When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

یہ سن کر عیسیٰ نہایت حیران ہوا۔ اُس نے مُڑ کر اپنے پیچھے آنے والوں سے کہا، ”مَیں تم کو سچ بتاتا ہوں، مَیں نے اسرائیل میں بھی اِس قسم کا ایمان نہیں پایا۔

And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

مَیں تمہیں بتاتا ہوں، بہت سے لوگ مشرق اور مغرب سے آ کر ابراہیم، اسحاق اور یعقوب کے ساتھ آسمان کی بادشاہی کی ضیافت میں شریک ہوں گے۔

But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

لیکن بادشاہی کے اصل وارثوں کو نکال کر اندھیرے میں ڈال دیا جائے گا، اُس جگہ جہاں لوگ روتے اور دانت پیستے رہیں گے۔“

And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

پھر عیسیٰ افسر سے مخاطب ہوا، ”جا، تیرے ساتھ ویسا ہی ہو جیسا تیرا ایمان ہے۔“ اور افسر کے غلام کو اُسی گھڑی شفا مل گئی۔

And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

عیسیٰ پطرس کے گھر میں آیا۔ وہاں اُس نے پطرس کی ساس کو بستر پر پڑے دیکھا۔ اُسے بخار تھا۔

And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

اُس نے اُس کا ہاتھ چھو لیا تو بخار اُتر گیا اور وہ اُٹھ کر اُس کی خدمت کرنے لگی۔

When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

شام ہوئی تو بدروحوں کی گرفت میں پڑے بہت سے لوگوں کو عیسیٰ کے پاس لایا گیا۔ اُس نے بدروحوں کو حکم دے کر نکال دیا اور تمام مریضوں کو شفا دی۔

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

یوں یسعیاہ نبی کی یہ پیش گوئی پوری ہوئی کہ ”اُس نے ہماری کمزوریاں لے لیں اور ہماری بیماریاں اُٹھا لیں۔“

Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

جب عیسیٰ نے اپنے گرد بڑا ہجوم دیکھا تو اُس نے شاگردوں کو جھیل پار کرنے کا حکم دیا۔

And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

روانہ ہونے سے پہلے شریعت کا ایک عالِم اُس کے پاس آ کر کہنے لگا، ”اُستاد، جہاں بھی آپ جائیں گے مَیں آپ کے پیچھے چلتا رہوں گا۔“

And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”لومڑیاں اپنے بھٹوں میں اور پرندے اپنے گھونسلوں میں آرام کر سکتے ہیں، لیکن ابنِ آدم کے پاس سر رکھ کر آرام کرنے کی کوئی جگہ نہیں۔“

And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

کسی اَور شاگرد نے اُس سے کہا، ”خداوند، مجھے پہلے جا کر اپنے باپ کو دفن کرنے کی اجازت دیں۔“

But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

لیکن عیسیٰ نے اُسے بتایا، ”میرے پیچھے ہو لے اور مُردوں کو اپنے مُردے دفن کرنے دے۔“

And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

پھر وہ کشتی پر سوار ہوا اور اُس کے پیچھے اُس کے شاگرد بھی۔

And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

اچانک جھیل پر سخت آندھی چلنے لگی اور کشتی لہروں میں ڈوبنے لگی۔ لیکن عیسیٰ سو رہا تھا۔

And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

شاگرد اُس کے پاس گئے اور اُسے جگا کر کہنے لگے، ”خداوند، ہمیں بچا، ہم تباہ ہو رہے ہیں!“

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

اُس نے جواب دیا، ”اے کم اعتقادو! گھبراتے کیوں ہو؟“ کھڑے ہو کر اُس نے آندھی اور موجوں کو ڈانٹا تو لہریں بالکل ساکت ہو گئیں۔

But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

شاگرد حیران ہو کر کہنے لگے، ”یہ کس قسم کا شخص ہے؟ ہَوا اور جھیل بھی اُس کا حکم مانتی ہیں۔“

And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

وہ جھیل کے پار گدرینیوں کے علاقے میں پہنچے تو بدروح گرفتہ دو آدمی قبروں میں سے نکل کر عیسیٰ کو ملے۔ وہ اِتنے خطرناک تھے کہ وہاں سے کوئی گزر نہیں سکتا تھا۔

And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

چیخیں مار مار کر اُنہوں نے کہا، ”اللہ کے فرزند، ہمارا آپ کے ساتھ کیا واسطہ؟ کیا آپ ہمیں مقررہ وقت سے پہلے عذاب میں ڈالنے آئے ہیں؟“

And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

کچھ فاصلے پر سؤروں کا بڑا غول چر رہا تھا۔

So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

بدروحوں نے عیسیٰ سے التجا کی، ”اگر آپ ہمیں نکالتے ہیں تو سؤروں کے اُس غول میں بھیج دیں۔“

And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

عیسیٰ نے اُنہیں حکم دیا، ”جاؤ۔“ بدروحیں نکل کر سؤروں میں جا گھسیں۔ اِس پر پورے کا پورا غول بھاگ بھاگ کر پہاڑی کی ڈھلان پر سے اُترا اور جھیل میں جھپٹ کر ڈوب مرا۔

And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

یہ دیکھ کر سؤروں کے گلہ بان بھاگ گئے۔ شہر میں جا کر اُنہوں نے لوگوں کو سب کچھ سنایا اور وہ بھی جو بدروح گرفتہ آدمیوں کے ساتھ ہوا تھا۔

And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

پھر پورا شہر نکل کر عیسیٰ کو ملنے آیا۔ اُسے دیکھ کر اُنہوں نے اُس کی منت کی کہ ہمارے علاقے سے چلے جائیں۔
