Job 12

And Job answered and said,

ایوب نے جواب دے کر کہا،

No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

”لگتا ہے کہ تم ہی واحد دانش مند ہو، کہ حکمت تمہارے ساتھ ہی مر جائے گی۔

But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

لیکن مجھے سمجھ ہے، اِس ناتے سے مَیں تم سے ادنیٰ نہیں ہوں۔ ویسے بھی کون ایسی باتیں نہیں جانتا؟

I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

مَیں تو اپنے دوستوں کے لئے مذاق کا نشانہ بن گیا ہوں، مَیں جس کی دعائیں اللہ سنتا تھا۔ ہاں، مَیں جو بےگناہ اور بےالزام ہوں دوسروں کے لئے مذاق کا نشانہ بن گیا ہوں!

He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

جو سکون سے زندگی گزارتا ہے وہ مصیبت زدہ کو حقیر جانتا ہے۔ وہ کہتا ہے، ’آؤ، ہم اُسے ٹھوکر ماریں جس کے پاؤں ڈگمگانے لگے ہے۔‘

The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

غارت گروں کے خیموں میں آرام و سکون ہے، اور اللہ کو طیش دلانے والے حفاظت سے رہتے ہیں، گو وہ اللہ کے ہاتھ میں ہیں۔

But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

تاہم تم کہتے ہو کہ جانوروں سے پوچھ لے تو وہ تجھے صحیح بات سکھائیں گے۔ پرندوں سے پتا کر تو وہ تجھے درست جواب دیں گے۔

Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

زمین سے بات کر تو وہ تجھے تعلیم دے گی، بلکہ سمندر کی مچھلیاں بھی تجھے اِس کا مفہوم سنائیں گی۔

Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?

اِن میں سے ایک بھی نہیں جو نہ جانتا ہو کہ رب کے ہاتھ نے یہ سب کچھ کیا ہے۔

In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

اُسی کے ہاتھ میں ہر جاندار کی جان، تمام انسانوں کا دم ہے۔

Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

کان تو الفاظ کی یوں جانچ پڑتال کرتا ہے جس طرح زبان کھانوں میں امتیاز کرتی ہے۔

With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

اور حکمت اُن میں پائی جاتی ہے جو عمر رسیدہ ہیں، سمجھ متعدد دن گزرنے کے بعد ہی آتی ہے۔

With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

حکمت اور قدرت اللہ کی ہے، وہی مصلحت اور سمجھ کا مالک ہے۔

Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

جو کچھ وہ ڈھا دے وہ دوبارہ تعمیر نہیں ہو گا، جسے وہ گرفتار کرے اُسے آزاد نہیں کیا جائے گا۔

Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

جب وہ پانی روکے تو کال پڑتا ہے، جب اُسے کھلا چھوڑے تو وہ ملک میں تباہی مچا دیتا ہے۔

With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

اُس کے پاس قوت اور دانائی ہے۔ بھٹکنے اور بھٹکانے والا دونوں ہی اُس کے ہاتھ میں ہیں۔

He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.

مشیروں کو وہ ننگے پاؤں اپنے ساتھ لے جاتا ہے، قاضیوں کو احمق ثابت کرتا ہے۔

He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

وہ بادشاہوں کا پٹکا کھول کر اُن کی کمروں میں رسّا باندھتا ہے۔

He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.

اماموں کو وہ ننگے پاؤں اپنے ساتھ لے جاتا ہے، مضبوطی سے کھڑے آدمیوں کو تباہ کرتا ہے۔

He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

قابلِ اعتماد افراد سے وہ بولنے کی قابلیت اور بزرگوں سے امتیاز کرنے کی لیاقت چھین لیتا ہے۔

He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

وہ شرفا پر اپنی حقارت کا اظہار کر کے زورآوروں کا پٹکا کھول دیتا ہے۔

He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

وہ اندھیرے کے پوشیدہ بھید کھول دیتا اور گہری تاریکی کو روشنی میں لاتا ہے۔

He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

وہ قوموں کو بڑا بھی بناتا اور تباہ بھی کرتا ہے، اُمّتوں کو منتشر بھی کرتا اور اُن کی قیادت بھی کرتا ہے۔

He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

وہ ملک کے راہنماؤں کو عقل سے محروم کر کے اُنہیں ایسے بیابان میں آوارہ پھرنے دیتا ہے جہاں راستہ ہی نہیں۔

They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.

تب وہ اندھیرے میں روشنی کے بغیر ٹٹول ٹٹول کر گھومتے ہیں۔ اللہ ہی اُنہیں نشے میں دُھت شرابیوں کی طرح بھٹکنے دیتا ہے۔
