I Kings 22

And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.

تین سال تک شام اور اسرائیل کے درمیان صلح رہی۔

And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

تیسرے سال یہوداہ کا بادشاہ یہوسفط اسرائیل کے بادشاہ اخی اب سے ملنے گیا۔

And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?

اُس وقت اسرائیل کے بادشاہ نے اپنے افسروں سے بات کی، ”دیکھیں، رامات جِلعاد ہمارا ہی شہر ہے۔ تو پھر ہم کیوں کچھ نہیں کر رہے؟ ہمیں اُسے شام کے بادشاہ کے قبضے سے چھڑوانا چاہئے۔“

And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth–gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

اُس نے یہوسفط سے سوال کیا، ”کیا آپ میرے ساتھ رامات جِلعاد جائیں گے تاکہ اُس پر قبضہ کریں؟“ یہوسفط نے جواب دیا، ”جی ضرور۔ ہم تو بھائی ہیں۔ میری قوم کو اپنی قوم اور میرے گھوڑوں کو اپنے گھوڑے سمجھیں!

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

لیکن مہربانی کر کے پہلے رب کی مرضی معلوم کر لیں۔“

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramoth–gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

اسرائیل کے بادشاہ نے تقریباً 400 نبیوں کو بُلا کر اُن سے پوچھا، ”کیا مَیں رامات جِلعاد پر حملہ کروں یا اِس ارادے سے باز رہوں؟“ نبیوں نے جواب دیا، ”جی کریں، کیونکہ رب اُسے بادشاہ کے حوالے کر دے گا۔“

And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?

لیکن یہوسفط مطمئن نہ ہوا۔ اُس نے پوچھا، ”کیا یہاں رب کا کوئی نبی نہیں جس سے ہم دریافت کر سکیں؟“

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

اسرائیل کا بادشاہ بولا، ”ہاں، ایک تو ہے جس کے ذریعے ہم رب کی مرضی معلوم کر سکتے ہیں۔ لیکن مَیں اُس سے نفرت کرتا ہوں، کیونکہ وہ میرے بارے میں کبھی بھی اچھی پیش گوئی نہیں کرتا۔ وہ ہمیشہ بُری پیش گوئیاں سناتا ہے۔ اُس کا نام میکایاہ بن اِملہ ہے۔“ یہوسفط نے اعتراض کیا، ”بادشاہ ایسی بات نہ کہے!“

Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.

تب اسرائیل کے بادشاہ نے کسی ملازم کو بُلا کر حکم دیا، ”میکایاہ بن اِملہ کو فوراً ہمارے پاس پہنچا دینا!“

And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

اخی اب اور یہوسفط اپنے شاہی لباس پہنے ہوئے سامریہ کے دروازے کے قریب اپنے اپنے تخت پر بیٹھے تھے۔ یہ ایسی کھلی جگہ تھی جہاں اناج گاہا جاتا تھا۔ تمام 400 نبی وہاں اُن کے سامنے اپنی پیش گوئیاں پیش کر رہے تھے۔

And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.

ایک نبی بنام صِدقیاہ بن کنعانہ نے اپنے لئے لوہے کے سینگ بنا کر اعلان کیا، ”رب فرماتا ہے کہ اِن سینگوں سے تُو شام کے فوجیوں کو مار مار کر ہلاک کر دے گا۔“

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth–gilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king's hand.

دوسرے نبی بھی اِس قسم کی پیش گوئیاں کر رہے تھے، ”رامات جِلعاد پر حملہ کریں، کیونکہ آپ ضرور کامیاب ہو جائیں گے۔ رب شہر کو آپ کے حوالے کر دے گا۔“

And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.

جس ملازم کو میکایاہ کو بُلانے کے لئے بھیجا گیا تھا اُس نے راستے میں اُسے سمجھایا، ”دیکھیں، باقی تمام نبی مل کر کہہ رہے ہیں کہ بادشاہ کو کامیابی حاصل ہو گی۔ آپ بھی ایسی ہی باتیں کریں، آپ بھی فتح کی پیش گوئی کریں!“

And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.

لیکن میکایاہ نے اعتراض کیا، ”رب کی حیات کی قَسم، مَیں بادشاہ کو صرف وہی کچھ بتاؤں گا جو رب مجھے فرمائے گا۔“

So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth–gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

جب میکایاہ اخی اب کے سامنے کھڑا ہوا تو بادشاہ نے پوچھا، ”میکایاہ، کیا ہم رامات جِلعاد پر حملہ کریں یا مَیں اِس ارادے سے باز رہوں؟“ میکایاہ نے جواب دیا، ”اُس پر حملہ کریں، کیونکہ رب شہر کو آپ کے حوالے کر کے آپ کو کامیابی بخشے گا۔“

And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?

بادشاہ ناراض ہوا، ”مجھے کتنی دفعہ آپ کو سمجھانا پڑے گا کہ آپ قَسم کھا کر مجھے رب کے نام میں صرف وہ کچھ سنائیں جو حقیقت ہے۔“

And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

تب میکایاہ نے جواب میں کہا، ”مجھے تمام اسرائیل گلہ بان سے محروم بھیڑبکریوں کی طرح پہاڑوں پر بکھرا ہوا نظر آیا۔ پھر رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا، ’اِن کا کوئی مالک نہیں ہے۔ ہر ایک سلامتی سے اپنے گھر واپس چلا جائے‘۔“

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?

اسرائیل کے بادشاہ نے یہوسفط سے کہا، ”لو، کیا مَیں نے آپ کو نہیں بتایا تھا کہ یہ شخص ہمیشہ میرے بارے میں بُری پیش گوئیاں کرتا ہے؟“

And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

لیکن میکایاہ نے اپنی بات جاری رکھی، ”رب کا فرمان سنیں! مَیں نے رب کو اُس کے تخت پر بیٹھے دیکھا۔ آسمان کی پوری فوج اُس کے دائیں اور بائیں ہاتھ کھڑی تھی۔

And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth–gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

رب نے پوچھا، ’کون اخی اب کو رامات جِلعاد پر حملہ کرنے پر اُکسائے گا تاکہ وہ وہاں جا کر مر جائے؟‘ ایک نے یہ مشورہ دیا، دوسرے نے وہ۔

And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.

آخرکار ایک روح رب کے سامنے کھڑی ہوئی اور کہنے لگی، ’مَیں اُسے اُکساؤں گی۔‘

And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

رب نے سوال کیا، ’کس طرح؟‘ روح نے جواب دیا، ’مَیں نکل کر اُس کے تمام نبیوں پر یوں قابو پاؤں گی کہ وہ جھوٹ ہی بولیں گے۔‘ رب نے فرمایا، ’تُو کامیاب ہو گی۔ جا اور یوں ہی کر!‘

Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

اے بادشاہ، رب نے آپ پر آفت لانے کا فیصلہ کر لیا ہے، اِس لئے اُس نے جھوٹی روح کو آپ کے اِن تمام نبیوں کے منہ میں ڈال دیا ہے۔“

But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

تب صِدقیاہ بن کنعانہ نے آگے بڑھ کر میکایاہ کے منہ پر تھپڑ مارا اور بولا، ”رب کا روح کس طرح مجھ سے نکل گیا تاکہ تجھ سے بات کرے؟“

And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

میکایاہ نے جواب دیا، ”جس دن آپ کبھی اِس کمرے میں، کبھی اُس میں کھسک کر چھپنے کی کوشش کریں گے اُس دن آپ کو پتا چلے گا۔“

And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

تب اخی اب بادشاہ نے حکم دیا، ”میکایاہ کو شہر پر مقرر افسر امون اور میرے بیٹے یوآس کے پاس واپس بھیج دو!

And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

اُنہیں بتا دینا، ’اِس آدمی کو جیل میں ڈال کر میرے صحیح سلامت واپس آنے تک کم سے کم روٹی اور پانی دیا کریں‘۔“

And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.

میکایاہ بولا، ”اگر آپ صحیح سلامت واپس آئیں تو مطلب ہو گا کہ رب نے میری معرفت بات نہیں کی۔“ پھر وہ ساتھ کھڑے لوگوں سے مخاطب ہوا، ”تمام لوگ دھیان دیں!“

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth–gilead.

اِس کے بعد اسرائیل کا بادشاہ اخی اب اور یہوداہ کا بادشاہ یہوسفط مل کر رامات جِلعاد پر حملہ کرنے کے لئے روانہ ہوئے۔

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.

جنگ سے پہلے اخی اب نے یہوسفط سے کہا، ”مَیں اپنا بھیس بدل کر میدانِ جنگ میں جاؤں گا۔ لیکن آپ اپنا شاہی لباس نہ اُتاریں۔“ چنانچہ اسرائیل کا بادشاہ اپنا بھیس بدل کر میدانِ جنگ میں آیا۔

But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.

شام کے بادشاہ نے رتھوں پر مقرر اپنے 32 افسروں کو حکم دیا تھا، ”صرف اور صرف بادشاہ پر حملہ کریں۔ کسی اَور سے مت لڑنا، خواہ وہ چھوٹا ہو یا بڑا۔“

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.

جب لڑائی چھڑ گئی تو رتھوں کے افسر یہوسفط پر ٹوٹ پڑے، کیونکہ اُنہوں نے کہا، ”یقیناً یہی اسرائیل کا بادشاہ ہے!“ لیکن جب یہوسفط مدد کے لئے چلّا اُٹھا

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

تو دشمنوں کو معلوم ہوا کہ یہ اخی اب بادشاہ نہیں ہے، اور وہ اُس کا تعاقب کرنے سے باز آئے۔

And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

لیکن کسی نے خاص نشانہ باندھے بغیر اپنا تیر چلایا تو وہ اخی اب کو ایسی جگہ جا لگا جہاں زرہ بکتر کا جوڑ تھا۔ بادشاہ نے اپنے رتھ بان کو حکم دیا، ”رتھ کو موڑ کر مجھے میدانِ جنگ سے باہر لے جاؤ! مجھے چوٹ لگ گئی ہے۔“

And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.

لیکن چونکہ اُس پورے دن شدید قسم کی لڑائی جاری رہی، اِس لئے بادشاہ اپنے رتھ میں ٹیک لگا کر دشمن کے مقابل کھڑا رہا۔ خون زخم سے رتھ کے فرش پر ٹپکتا رہا، اور شام کے وقت اخی اب مر گیا۔

And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.

جب سورج غروب ہونے لگا تو اسرائیلی فوج میں بلند آواز سے اعلان کیا گیا، ”ہر ایک اپنے شہر اور اپنے علاقے میں واپس چلا جائے!“

So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.

بادشاہ کی موت کے بعد اُس کی لاش کو سامریہ لا کر دفنایا گیا۔

And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake.

شاہی رتھ کو سامریہ کے ایک تالاب کے پاس لایا گیا جہاں کسبیوں کی نہانے کی جگہ تھی۔ وہاں اُسے دھویا گیا۔ کُتے بھی آ کر خون کو چاٹنے لگے۔ یوں رب کا فرمان پورا ہوا۔

Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

باقی جو کچھ اخی اب کی حکومت کے دوران ہوا وہ ’شاہانِ اسرائیل کی تاریخ‘ کی کتاب میں درج ہے۔ اُس میں بادشاہ کا تعمیر کردہ ہاتھی دانت کا محل اور وہ شہر بیان کئے گئے ہیں جن کی قلعہ بندی اُس نے کی۔

So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

جب وہ مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا تو اُس کا بیٹا اخزیاہ تخت نشین ہوا۔

And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

آسا کا بیٹا یہوسفط اسرائیل کے بادشاہ اخی اب کی حکومت کے چوتھے سال میں یہوداہ کا بادشاہ بنا۔

Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

اُس وقت اُس کی عمر 35 سال تھی۔ اُس کا دار الحکومت یروشلم رہا، اور اُس کی حکومت کا دورانیہ 25 سال تھا۔ ماں کا نام عزوبہ بنت سِلحی تھا۔

And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.

وہ ہر کام میں اپنے باپ آسا کے نمونے پر چلتا اور وہ کچھ کرتا رہا جو رب کو پسند تھا۔ لیکن اُس نے بھی اونچے مقاموں کے مندروں کو ختم نہ کیا۔ ایسی جگہوں پر جانوروں کو قربان کرنے اور بخور جلانے کا انتظام جاری رہا۔

And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

یہوسفط اور اسرائیل کے بادشاہ کے درمیان صلح قائم رہی۔

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

باقی جو کچھ یہوسفط کی حکومت کے دوران ہوا وہ ’شاہانِ یہوداہ کی تاریخ‘ کی کتاب میں درج ہے۔ اُس کی کامیابیاں اور جنگیں سب اُس میں بیان کی گئی ہیں۔

And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.

جو جسم فروش مرد اور عورتیں آسا کے زمانے میں بچ گئے تھے اُنہیں یہوسفط نے ملک میں سے مٹا دیا۔

There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.

اُس وقت ملکِ ادوم کا بادشاہ نہ تھا بلکہ یہوداہ کا ایک افسر اُس پر حکمرانی کرتا تھا۔

Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion–geber.

یہوسفط نے بحری جہازوں کا بیڑا بنوایا تاکہ وہ تجارت کر کے اوفیر سے سونا لائیں۔ لیکن وہ کبھی استعمال نہ ہوئے بلکہ اپنی ہی بندرگاہ عصیون جابر میں تباہ ہو گئے۔

Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.

تباہ ہونے سے پہلے اسرائیل کے بادشاہ اخزیاہ بن اخی اب نے یہوسفط سے درخواست کی تھی کہ اسرائیل کے کچھ لوگ جہازوں پر ساتھ چلیں۔ لیکن یہوسفط نے انکار کیا تھا۔

And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

جب یہوسفط مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا تو اُسے یروشلم کے حصے میں جو ’داؤد کا شہر‘ کہلاتا ہے خاندانی قبر میں دفنایا گیا۔ پھر اُس کا بیٹا یہورام تخت نشین ہوا۔

Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.

اخی اب کا بیٹا اخزیاہ یہوداہ کے بادشاہ یہوسفط کی حکومت کے 17ویں سال میں اسرائیل کا بادشاہ بنا۔ وہ دو سال تک اسرائیل پر حکمران رہا۔ سامریہ اُس کا دار الحکومت تھا۔

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:

جو کچھ اُس نے کیا وہ رب کو ناپسند تھا، کیونکہ وہ اپنے ماں باپ اور یرُبعام بن نباط کے نمونے پر چلتا رہا، اُسی یرُبعام کے نمونے پر جس نے اسرائیل کو گناہ کرنے پر اُکسایا تھا۔

For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.

اپنے باپ کی طرح بعل دیوتا کی خدمت اور پوجا کرنے سے اُس نے رب، اسرائیل کے خدا کو طیش دلایا۔
