I Kings 21

And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

اِس کے بعد ایک اَور قابلِ ذکر بات ہوئی۔ یزرعیل میں سامریہ کے بادشاہ اخی اب کا ایک محل تھا۔ محل کی زمین کے ساتھ ساتھ انگور کا باغ تھا۔ مالک کا نام نبوت تھا۔

And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.

ایک دن اخی اب نے نبوت سے بات کی، ”انگور کا آپ کا باغ میرے محل کے قریب ہی ہے۔ اُسے مجھے دے دیں، کیونکہ مَیں اُس میں سبزیاں لگانا چاہتا ہوں۔ معاوضے میں مَیں آپ کو اُس سے اچھا انگور کا باغ دے دوں گا۔ لیکن اگر آپ پیسے کو ترجیح دیں تو آپ کو اُس کی پوری رقم ادا کر دوں گا۔“

And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.

لیکن نبوت نے جواب دیا، ”اللہ نہ کرے کہ مَیں آپ کو وہ موروثی زمین دوں جو میرے باپ دادا نے میرے سپرد کی ہے!“

And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.

اخی اب بڑے غصے میں اپنے گھر واپس چلا گیا۔ وہ بےزار تھا کہ نبوت اپنے باپ دادا کی موروثی زمین بیچنا نہیں چاہتا۔ وہ پلنگ پر لیٹ گیا اور اپنا منہ دیوار کی طرف کر کے کھانا کھانے سے انکار کیا۔

But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread?

اُس کی بیوی ایزبل اُس کے پاس آئی اور پوچھنے لگی، ”کیا بات ہے؟ آپ کیوں اِتنے بےزار ہیں کہ کھانا بھی نہیں کھانا چاہتے؟“

And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

اخی اب نے جواب دیا، ”یزرعیل کا رہنے والا نبوت مجھے انگور کا باغ نہیں دینا چاہتا۔ گو مَیں اُسے پیسے دینا چاہتا تھا بلکہ اُسے اِس کی جگہ کوئی اَور باغ دینے کے لئے تیار تھا توبھی وہ بضد رہا۔“

And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.

ایزبل بولی، ”کیا آپ اسرائیل کے بادشاہ ہیں کہ نہیں؟ اب اُٹھیں! کھائیں، پئیں اور اپنا دل بہلائیں۔ مَیں ہی آپ کو نبوت یزرعیلی کا انگور کا باغ دلا دوں گی۔“

So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth.

اُس نے اخی اب کے نام خطوط لکھ کر اُن پر بادشاہ کی مُہر لگائی اور اُنہیں نبوت کے شہر کے بزرگوں اور شرفا کو بھیج دیا۔

And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people:

خطوں میں ذیل کی خبر لکھی تھی، ”شہر میں اعلان کریں کہ ایک دن کا روزہ رکھا جائے۔ جب لوگ اُس دن جمع ہو جائیں گے تو نبوت کو لوگوں کے سامنے عزت کی کرسی پر بٹھا دیں۔

And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.

لیکن اُس کے مقابل دو بدمعاشوں کو بٹھا دینا۔ اجتماع کے دوران یہ آدمی سب کے سامنے نبوت پر الزام لگائیں، ’اِس شخص نے اللہ اور بادشاہ پر لعنت بھیجی ہے! ہم اِس کے گواہ ہیں۔‘ پھر اُسے شہر سے باہر لے جا کر سنگسار کریں۔“

And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.

یزرعیل کے بزرگوں اور شرفا نے ایسا ہی کیا۔

They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.

اُنہوں نے روزے کے دن کا اعلان کیا۔ جب لوگ مقررہ دن جمع ہوئے تو نبوت کو لوگوں کے سامنے عزت کی کرسی پر بٹھا دیا گیا۔

And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.

پھر دو بدمعاش آئے اور اُس کے مقابل بیٹھ گئے۔ اجتماع کے دوران یہ آدمی سب کے سامنے نبوت پر الزام لگانے لگے، ”اِس شخص نے اللہ اور بادشاہ پر لعنت بھیجی ہے! ہم اِس کے گواہ ہیں۔“ تب نبوت کو شہر سے باہر لے جا کر سنگسار کر دیا گیا۔

Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.

پھر شہر کے بزرگوں نے ایزبل کو اطلاع دی، ”نبوت مر گیا ہے، اُسے سنگسار کیا گیا ہے۔“

And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.

یہ خبر ملتے ہی ایزبل نے اخی اب سے بات کی، ”جائیں، نبوت یزرعیلی کے اُس باغ پر قبضہ کریں جو وہ آپ کو بیچنے سے انکار کر رہا تھا۔ اب وہ آدمی زندہ نہیں رہا بلکہ مر گیا ہے۔“

And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

یہ سن کر اخی اب فوراً نبوت کے انگور کے باغ پر قبضہ کرنے کے لئے روانہ ہوا۔

And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

تب رب الیاس تِشبی سے ہم کلام ہوا،

Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it.

”اسرائیل کے بادشاہ اخی اب جو سامریہ میں رہتا ہے سے ملنے جا۔ اِس وقت وہ نبوت کے انگور کے باغ میں ہے، کیونکہ وہ اُس پر قبضہ کرنے کے لئے وہاں پہنچا ہے۔

And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.

اُسے بتا دینا، ’رب فرماتا ہے کہ تُو نے ایک آدمی کو بلاوجہ قتل کر کے اُس کی ملکیت پر قبضہ کر لیا ہے۔ رب فرماتا ہے کہ جہاں کُتوں نے نبوت کا خون چاٹا ہے وہاں وہ تیرا خون بھی چاٹیں گے‘۔“

And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

جب الیاس اخی اب کے پاس پہنچا تو بادشاہ بولا، ”میرے دشمن، کیا آپ نے مجھے ڈھونڈ نکالا ہے؟“ الیاس نے جواب دیا، ”جی، مَیں نے آپ کو ڈھونڈ نکالا ہے، کیونکہ آپ نے اپنے آپ کو بدی کے ہاتھ میں بیچ کر ایسا کام کیا ہے جو رب کو ناپسند ہے۔

Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,

اب سنیں رب کا فرمان، ’مَیں تجھے یوں مصیبت میں ڈال دوں گا کہ تیرا نام و نشان تک نہیں رہے گا۔ مَیں اسرائیل میں سے تیرے خاندان کے ہر مرد کو مٹا دوں گا، خواہ وہ بالغ ہو یا بچہ۔

And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.

تُو نے مجھے بڑا طیش دلایا اور اسرائیل کو گناہ کرنے پر اُکسایا ہے۔ اِس لئے میرا تیرے گھرانے کے ساتھ وہی سلوک ہو گا جو مَیں نے یرُبعام بن نباط اور بعشا بن اخیاہ کے ساتھ کیا ہے۔‘

And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.

ایزبل پر بھی رب کی سزا آئے گی۔ رب فرماتا ہے، ’کُتے یزرعیل کی فصیل کے پاس ایزبل کو کھا جائیں گے۔

Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.

اخی اب کے خاندان میں سے جو شہر میں مریں گا اُنہیں کُتے کھا جائیں گے، اور جو کھلے میدان میں مریں گے اُنہیں پرندے چٹ کر جائیں گے‘۔“

But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

اور یہ حقیقت ہے کہ اخی اب جیسا خراب شخص کوئی نہیں تھا۔ کیونکہ ایزبل کے اُکسانے پر اُس نے اپنے آپ کو بدی کے ہاتھ میں بیچ کر ایسا کام کیا جو رب کو ناپسند تھا۔

And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

سب سے گھنونی بات یہ تھی کہ وہ بُتوں کے پیچھے لگا رہا، بالکل اُن اموریوں کی طرح جنہیں رب نے اسرائیل سے نکال دیا تھا۔

And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.

جب اخی اب نے الیاس کی یہ باتیں سنیں تو اُس نے اپنے کپڑے پھاڑ کر ٹاٹ اوڑھ لیا۔ روزہ رکھ کر وہ غمگین حالت میں پھرتا رہا۔ ٹاٹ اُس نے سوتے وقت بھی نہ اُتارا۔

And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

تب رب دوبارہ الیاس تِشبی سے ہم کلام ہوا،

Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.

”کیا تُو نے غور کیا ہے کہ اخی اب نے اپنے آپ کو میرے سامنے کتنا پست کر دیا ہے؟ چونکہ اُس نے اپنی عاجزی کا اظہار کیا ہے اِس لئے مَیں اُس کے جیتے جی اُس کے خاندان کو مذکورہ مصیبت میں نہیں ڈالوں گا بلکہ اُس وقت جب اُس کا بیٹا تخت پر بیٹھے گا۔“
