Matthew 4

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

İsa kırk gün kırk gece oruç tuttuktan sonra acıktı.

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

O zaman Ayartıcı yaklaşıp, “Tanrı’nın Oğlu’ysan, söyle şu taşlar ekmek olsun” dedi.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

[] İsa ona şu karşılığı verdi: “ ‘İnsan yalnız ekmekle yaşamaz, Tanrı’nın ağzından çıkan her sözle yaşar’ diye yazılmıştır.”

Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

[] Sonra İblis O’nu kutsal kente götürdü. Tapınağın tepesine çıkarıp, “Tanrı’nın Oğlu’ysan, kendini aşağı at” dedi, “Çünkü şöyle yazılmıştır: ‘Tanrı, senin için meleklerine buyruk verecek.’ ‘Ayağın bir taşa çarpmasın diye Seni elleri üzerinde taşıyacaklar.’ ”

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

[] Sonra İblis O’nu kutsal kente götürdü. Tapınağın tepesine çıkarıp, “Tanrı’nın Oğlu’ysan, kendini aşağı at” dedi, “Çünkü şöyle yazılmıştır: ‘Tanrı, senin için meleklerine buyruk verecek.’ ‘Ayağın bir taşa çarpmasın diye Seni elleri üzerinde taşıyacaklar.’ ”

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

[] İsa İblis’e şu karşılığı verdi: “ ‘Tanrın Rab’bi denemeyeceksin’ diye de yazılmıştır.”

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

İblis bu kez İsa’yı çok yüksek bir dağa çıkardı. O’na bütün görkemiyle dünya ülkelerini göstererek,

And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

“Yere kapanıp bana taparsan, bütün bunları sana vereceğim” dedi.

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

[] İsa ona şöyle karşılık verdi: “Çekil git, Şeytan! ‘Tanrın Rab’be tapacak, yalnız O’na kulluk edeceksin’ diye yazılmıştır.”

Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Bunun üzerine İblis İsa’yı bırakıp gitti. Melekler gelip İsa’ya hizmet ettiler.

Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

[] İsa, Yahya’nın tutuklandığını duyunca Celile’ye döndü.

And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

[] Nasıra’dan ayrılarak Zevulun ve Naftali yöresinde, Celile Gölü kıyısında bulunan Kefarnahum’a yerleşti.

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

[] Bu, Peygamber Yeşaya aracılığıyla bildirilen şu söz yerine gelsin diye oldu: “Zevulun ve Naftali bölgeleri, Şeria Irmağı’nın ötesinde, Deniz Yolu’nda, Ulusların yaşadığı Celile!

The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

[] Bu, Peygamber Yeşaya aracılığıyla bildirilen şu söz yerine gelsin diye oldu: “Zevulun ve Naftali bölgeleri, Şeria Irmağı’nın ötesinde, Deniz Yolu’nda, Ulusların yaşadığı Celile!

The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

Karanlıkta yaşayan halk, Büyük bir ışık gördü. Ölümün gölgelediği diyarda Yaşayanlara ışık doğdu.”

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

[] O günden sonra İsa şu çağrıda bulunmaya başladı: “Tövbe edin! Çünkü Göklerin Egemenliği yaklaştı.”

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

İsa, Celile Gölü’nün kıyısında yürürken Petrus diye de anılan Simun’la kardeşi Andreas’ı gördü. Balıkçı olan bu iki kardeş göle ağ atıyorlardı.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Onlara, “Ardımdan gelin” dedi, “Sizleri insan tutan balıkçılar yapacağım.”

And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

Onlar da hemen ağlarını bırakıp O’nun ardından gittiler.

And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

İsa daha ileri gidince başka iki kardeşi, Zebedi’nin oğulları Yakup’la Yuhanna’yı gördü. Babaları Zebedi’yle birlikte teknede ağlarını onarıyorlardı. Onları da çağırdı.

And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

Hemen tekneyi ve babalarını bırakıp İsa’nın ardından gittiler.

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

[] İsa, Celile bölgesinin her tarafını dolaştı. Buralardaki havralarda öğretiyor, göksel egemenliğin Müjdesi’ni duyuruyor, halk arasında rastlanan her hastalığı, her illeti iyileştiriyordu.

And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

Ünü bütün Suriye’ye yayılmıştı. Türlü hastalıklara yakalanmış bütün hastaları, acı çekenleri, cinlileri, saralıları, felçlileri O’na getirdiler; hepsini iyileştirdi.

And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.

Celile, Dekapolis, Yeruşalim, Yahudiye ve Şeria Irmağı’nın karşı yakasından gelen büyük kalabalıklar O’nun ardından gidiyordu.
