Psalms 97

L’Eterno regna; gioisca la terra, la moltitudine delle isole si rallegri.

The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.

Nuvole ed oscurità lo circondano; giustizia ed equità son le basi del suo trono.

Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.

Un fuoco lo precede e consuma i suoi nemici d’ogn’intorno.

A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

I suoi lampi illuminano il mondo; la terra lo vede e trema.

His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.

I monti si struggono come cera alla presenza dell’Eterno, alla presenza del Signore di tutta la terra.

The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

I cieli annunziano la sua giustizia, e tutti i popoli vedono la sua gloria.

The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

Son confusi tutti quelli che adoran le immagini, che si glorian degl’idoli; si prostrano dinanzi a lui tutti gli dèi.

Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.

Sion l’ha udito e si è rallegrata, e le figliuole di Giuda hanno esultato per i tuoi giudizi, o Eterno!

Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD.

Poiché tu, o Eterno, sei l’Altissimo su tutta la terra; tu sei sommamente elevato sopra tutti gli dèi.

For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

O voi che amate l’Eterno, odiate il male! Egli custodisce le anime de’ suoi fedeli, li libera dalla mano degli empi.

Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

La luce è seminata per il giusto, e la gioia per i diritti di cuore.

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

Rallegratevi nell’Eterno, o giusti, e lodate il santo suo nome!

Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
