Psalms 94

Dieu des vengeances, Eternel! Dieu des vengeances, parais!

O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.

Lève-toi, juge de la terre! Rends aux superbes selon leurs oeuvres!

Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.

Jusques à quand les méchants, ô Eternel! Jusques à quand les méchants triompheront-ils?

LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

Ils discourent, ils parlent avec arrogance; Tous ceux qui font le mal se glorifient.

How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

Eternel! ils écrasent ton peuple, Ils oppriment ton héritage;

They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.

Ils égorgent la veuve et l'étranger, Ils assassinent les orphelins.

They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.

Et ils disent: L'Eternel ne regarde pas, Le Dieu de Jacob ne fait pas attention!

Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.

Prenez-y garde, hommes stupides! Insensés, quand serez-vous sages?

Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?

Celui qui a planté l'oreille n'entendrait-il pas? Celui qui a formé l'oeil ne verrait-il pas?

He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

Celui qui châtie les nations ne punirait-il point, Lui qui donne à l'homme l'intelligence?

He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?

L'Eternel connaît les pensées de l'homme, Il sait qu'elles sont vaines.

The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

Heureux l'homme que tu châties, ô Eternel! Et que tu instruis par ta loi,

Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;

Pour le calmer aux jours du malheur, Jusqu'à ce que la fosse soit creusée pour le méchant!

That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.

Car l'Eternel ne délaisse pas son peuple, Il n'abandonne pas son héritage;

For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

Car le jugement sera conforme à la justice, Et tous ceux dont le coeur est droit l'approuveront.

But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

Qui se lèvera pour moi contre les méchants? Qui me soutiendra contre ceux qui font le mal?

Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

Si l'Eternel n'était pas mon secours, Mon âme serait bien vite dans la demeure du silence.

Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

Quand je dis: Mon pied chancelle! Ta bonté, ô Eternel! me sert d'appui.

When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.

Quand les pensées s'agitent en foule au dedans de moi, Tes consolations réjouissent mon âme.

In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

Les méchants te feraient-ils siéger sur leur trône, Eux qui forment des desseins iniques en dépit de la loi?

Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?

Ils se rassemblent contre la vie du juste, Et ils condamnent le sang innocent.

They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

Mais l'Eternel est ma retraite, Mon Dieu est le rocher de mon refuge.

But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.

Il fera retomber sur eux leur iniquité, Il les anéantira par leur méchanceté; L'Eternel, notre Dieu, les anéantira.

And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
