Matthew 4

Silloin vietiin Jesus hengeltä korpeen kiusattaa perkeleeltä.

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Ja kuin hän oli paastonnut neljäkymmentä päivää ja neljäkymmentä yötä, sitte hän isosi.

And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

Ja kiusaaja tuli hänen tykönsä ja sanoi: jos sinä olet Jumalan Poika, niin sano, että nämät kivet leiviksi tulevat.

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Mutta hän vastasi ja sanoi: kirjoitettu on: ei ihminen elä ainoasti leivästä, mutta jokaisesta sanasta, joka Jumalan suusta lähtee.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Silloin otti perkele hänen kanssansa pyhään kaupunkiin, ja asetti hänen templin harjalle,

Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

Ja sanoi hänelle: jos sinä olet Jumalan Poika, niin laske sinus alaspäin; sillä kirjoitettu on: hän antaa käskyn enkeleillensä sinusta, ja he käsissä kantavat sinun, ettet joskus jalkaas kiveen loukkaa.

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Niin Jesus sanoi hänelle: taas on kirjoitettu: ei sinun pidä kiusaaman Herraa sinun Jumalaas.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Taas vei hänen perkele sangen korkialle vuorelle, ja osoitti hänelle kaikki maailman valtakunnat ja niiden kunnian,

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

Ja sanoi hänelle: nämät kaikki minä annan sinulle, jos sinä lankeat maahan ja rukoilet minua.

And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Niin sanoi Jesus hänelle: mene pois, saatana! Sillä kirjoitettu on: Herraa sinun Jumalaas pitää sinun kumartaman, ja häntä ainoaa palveleman.

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Silloin jätti hänen perkele; ja katso, enkelit tulivat ja palvelivat häntä.

Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Mutta kuin Jesus kuuli, että Johannes oli vankiuteen annettu ylön, poikkesi hän Galileaan,

Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

Ja jätti Natsaretin, tuli ja asui Kapernaumissa, joka on merikaupunki, Zebulonin ja Naphtalin äärissä;

And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

Että täytettäisiin se mikä sanottu oli Jesaias prophetan kautta, joka sanoo:

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

Zebulonin maa ja Naphtalin maa, läsnä meritietä, sillä puolella Jordanin, pakanain Galilea,

The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

Kansa, joka pimiässä istui, näki suuren valkeuden, ja niille, jotka kuoleman maassa ja varjossa istuivat, koitti valkeus.

The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

Siitä ajasta rupesi Jesus saarnaamaan ja sanomaan: tehtäät parannus; sillä taivaan valtakunta lähestyi.

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mutta kuin Jesus käveli Galilean meren tykönä, näki hän kaksi veljestä, Simonin, joka kutsutaan Pietariksi, ja Andreaksen hänen veljensä, laskevan verkkoa mereen; (Sillä he olivat kalamiehet,)

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

Ja sanoi heille: seuratkaat minua, ja minä teen teidät ihmisten kalamiehiksi.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Niin he jättivät kohta verkot ja seurasivat häntä.

And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

Ja kuin hän sieltä edemmä kävi, näki hän toiset kaksi veljestä, Jakobin Zebedeuksen pojan ja Johanneksen hänen veljensä, venheessä isänsä Zebedeuksen kanssa, parantavan verkkojansa; ja hän kutsui heitä.

And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

Niin he kohta jättivät venheen ja isänsä, ja seurasivat häntä.

And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

Ja Jesus vaelsi ympäri kaiken Galilean, ja opetti heidän synagogissansa, ja saarnasi valtakunnan evankeliumia, ja paransi kaikkinaiset taudit ja kaiken sairauden kansan seassa.

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

Ja sanoma kuului hänestä kaikkeen Syrian maahan. Ja he toivat hänen tykönsä kaikkinaisia sairaita, moninaisilla taudeilla ja kivuilla vaivatuita ja piruilta riivatuita, ja kuutaudillisia ja halvatuita; ja hän paransi ne.

And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

Ja häntä seurasi paljo väkeä Galileasta ja kymmenestä kaupungista, ja Jerusalemista ja Juudeasta, ja maakunnista sillä puolella Jordania.

And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
