Acts 8

اور ساؤل کو بھی ستفنس کا قتل منظور تھا۔ اُس دن یروشلم میں موجود جماعت سخت ایذا رسانی کی زد میں آ گئی۔ اِس لئے سوائے رسولوں کے تمام ایمان دار یہودیہ اور سامریہ کے علاقوں میں تتر بتر ہو گئے۔

And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judæa and Samaria, except the apostles.

کچھ خدا ترس آدمیوں نے ستفنس کو دفن کر کے رو رو کر اُس کا ماتم کیا۔

And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

لیکن ساؤل عیسیٰ کی جماعت کو تباہ کرنے پر تُلا ہوا تھا۔ اُس نے گھر گھر جا کر ایمان دار مرد و خواتین کو نکال دیا اور اُنہیں گھسیٹ کر قیدخانے میں ڈلوا دیا۔

As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

جو ایمان دار بکھر گئے تھے وہ جگہ جگہ جا کر اللہ کی خوش خبری سناتے پھرے۔

Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

اِس طرح فلپّس سامریہ کے کسی شہر کو گیا اور وہاں کے لوگوں کو مسیح کے بارے میں بتایا۔

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

جو کچھ بھی فلپّس نے کہا اور جو بھی الٰہی نشان اُس نے دکھائے، اُس پر سننے والے ہجوم نے یک دل ہو کر توجہ دی۔

And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

بہت سے لوگوں میں سے بدروحیں زوردار چیخیں مار مار کر نکل گئیں، اور بہت سے مفلوجوں اور لنگڑوں کو شفا مل گئی۔

For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

یوں اُس شہر میں بڑی شادمانی پھیل گئی۔

And there was great joy in that city.

وہاں کافی عرصے سے ایک آدمی رہتا تھا جس کا نام شمعون تھا۔ وہ جادوگر تھا اور اُس کے حیرت انگیز کام سے سامریہ کے لوگ بہت متاثر تھے۔ اُس کا اپنا دعویٰ تھا کہ مَیں کوئی خاص شخص ہوں۔

But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

اِس لئے سب لوگ چھوٹے سے لے کر بڑے تک اُس پر خاص توجہ دیتے تھے۔ اُن کا کہنا تھا، ’یہ آدمی وہ الٰہی قوت ہے جو عظیم کہلاتی ہے۔‘

To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

وہ اِس لئے اُس کے پیچھے لگ گئے تھے کہ اُس نے اُنہیں بڑی دیر سے اپنے حیرت انگیز کاموں سے متاثر کر رکھا تھا۔

And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

لیکن اب لوگ فلپّس کی اللہ کی بادشاہی اور عیسیٰ کے نام کے بارے میں خوش خبری پر ایمان لے آئے، اور مرد و خواتین نے بپتسمہ لیا۔

But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

خود شمعون نے بھی ایمان لا کر بپتسمہ لیا اور فلپّس کے ساتھ رہا۔ جب اُس نے وہ بڑے الٰہی نشان اور معجزے دیکھے جو فلپّس کے ہاتھ سے ظاہر ہوئے تو وہ ہکا بکا رہ گیا۔

Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

جب یروشلم میں رسولوں نے سنا کہ سامریہ نے اللہ کا کلام قبول کر لیا ہے تو اُنہوں نے پطرس اور یوحنا کو اُن کے پاس بھیج دیا۔

Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

وہاں پہنچ کر اُنہوں نے اُن کے لئے دعا کی کہ اُنہیں روح القدس مل جائے،

Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

کیونکہ ابھی روح القدس اُن پر نازل نہیں ہوا تھا بلکہ اُنہیں صرف خداوند عیسیٰ کے نام میں بپتسمہ دیا گیا تھا۔

(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

اب جب پطرس اور یوحنا نے اپنے ہاتھ اُن پر رکھے تو اُنہیں روح القدس مل گیا۔

Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

شمعون نے دیکھا کہ جب رسول لوگوں پر ہاتھ رکھتے ہیں تو اُن کو روح القدس ملتا ہے۔ اِس لئے اُس نے اُنہیں پیسے پیش کر کے

And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

کہا، ”مجھے بھی یہ اختیار دے دیں کہ جس پر مَیں ہاتھ رکھوں اُسے روح القدس مل جائے۔“

Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

لیکن پطرس نے جواب دیا، ”آپ کے پیسے آپ کے ساتھ غارت ہو جائیں، کیونکہ آپ نے سوچا کہ اللہ کی نعمت پیسوں سے خریدی جا سکتی ہے۔

But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

اِس خدمت میں آپ کا کوئی حصہ نہیں ہے، کیونکہ آپ کا دل اللہ کے سامنے خالص نہیں ہے۔

Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

اپنی اِس شرارت سے توبہ کر کے خداوند سے دعا کریں۔ شاید وہ آپ کو اِس ارادے کی معافی دے جو آپ نے دل میں رکھا ہے۔

Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

کیونکہ مَیں دیکھتا ہوں کہ آپ کڑوی پِت سے بھرے اور ناراستی کے بندھن میں جکڑے ہوئے ہیں۔“

For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

شمعون نے کہا، ”پھر خداوند سے میرے لئے دعا کریں کہ آپ کی مذکورہ مصیبتوں میں سے مجھ پر کوئی نہ آئے۔“

Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

خداوند کے کلام کی گواہی دینے اور اُس کی منادی کرنے کے بعد پطرس اور یوحنا واپس یروشلم کے لئے روانہ ہوئے۔ راستے میں اُنہوں نے سامریہ کے بہت سے دیہاتوں میں اللہ کی خوش خبری سنائی۔

And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

ایک دن رب کے فرشتے نے فلپّس سے کہا، ”اُٹھ کر جنوب کی طرف اُس راہ پر جا جو ریگستان میں سے گزر کر یروشلم سے غزہ کو جاتی ہے۔“

And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

فلپّس اُٹھ کر روانہ ہوا۔ چلتے چلتے اُس کی ملاقات ایتھوپیا کی ملکہ کنداکے کے ایک خواجہ سرا سے ہوئی۔ ملکہ کے پورے خزانے پر مقرر یہ درباری عبادت کرنے کے لئے یروشلم گیا تھا

And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

اور اب اپنے ملک میں واپس جا رہا تھا۔ اُس وقت وہ رتھ میں سوار یسعیاہ نبی کی کتاب کی تلاوت کر رہا تھا۔

Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

روح القدس نے فلپّس سے کہا، ”اُس کے پاس جا کر رتھ کے ساتھ ہو لے۔“

Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

فلپّس دوڑ کر رتھ کے پاس پہنچا تو سنا کہ وہ یسعیاہ نبی کی کتاب کی تلاوت کر رہا ہے۔ اُس نے پوچھا، ”کیا آپ کو اُس سب کی سمجھ آتی ہے جو آپ پڑھ رہے ہیں؟“

And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

درباری نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں کیونکر سمجھوں جب تک کوئی میری راہنمائی نہ کرے؟“ اور اُس نے فلپّس کو رتھ میں سوار ہونے کی دعوت دی۔

And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

کلامِ مُقدّس کا جو حوالہ وہ پڑھ رہا تھا یہ تھا، ’اُسے بھیڑ کی طرح ذبح کرنے کے لئے لے گئے۔ جس طرح لیلا بال کترنے والے کے سامنے خاموش رہتا ہے، اُسی طرح اُس نے اپنا منہ نہ کھولا۔

The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

اُس کی تذلیل کی گئی اور اُسے انصاف نہ ملا۔ کون اُس کی نسل بیان کر سکتا ہے؟ کیونکہ اُس کی جان دنیا سے چھین لی گئی۔‘

In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

درباری نے فلپّس سے پوچھا، ”مہربانی کر کے مجھے بتا دیجئے کہ نبی یہاں کس کا ذکر کر رہا ہے، اپنا یا کسی اَور کا؟“

And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

جواب میں فلپّس نے کلامِ مُقدّس کے اِسی حوالے سے شروع کر کے اُسے عیسیٰ کے بارے میں خوش خبری سنائی۔

Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

سڑک پر سفر کرتے کرتے وہ ایک جگہ سے گزرے جہاں پانی تھا۔ خواجہ سرا نے کہا، ”دیکھیں، یہاں پانی ہے۔ اب مجھے بپتسمہ لینے سے کون سی چیز روک سکتی ہے؟“

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

[فلپّس نے کہا، ”اگر آپ پورے دل سے ایمان لائیں تو لے سکتے ہیں۔“ اُس نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں ایمان رکھتا ہوں کہ عیسیٰ مسیح اللہ کا فرزند ہے۔“]

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

اُس نے رتھ کو روکنے کا حکم دیا۔ دونوں پانی میں اُتر گئے اور فلپّس نے اُسے بپتسمہ دیا۔

And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

جب وہ پانی سے نکل آئے تو خداوند کا روح فلپّس کو اُٹھا لے گیا۔ اِس کے بعد خواجہ سرا نے اُسے پھر کبھی نہ دیکھا، لیکن اُس نے خوشی مناتے ہوئے اپنا سفر جاری رکھا۔

And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

اِتنے میں فلپّس کو اشدود شہر میں پایا گیا۔ وہ وہاں اور قیصریہ تک کے تمام شہروں میں سے گزر کر اللہ کی خوش خبری سناتا گیا۔

But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Cæsarea.
