Acts 21

مشکل سے اِفسس کے بزرگوں سے الگ ہو کر ہم روانہ ہوئے اور سیدھے جزیرۂ کوس پہنچ گئے۔ اگلے دن ہم رُدس آئے اور وہاں سے پترہ پہنچے۔

And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:

پترہ میں فینیکے کے لئے جہاز مل گیا تو ہم اُس پر سوار ہو کر روانہ ہوئے۔

And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth.

جب قبرص دُور سے نظر آیا تو ہم اُس کے جنوب میں سے گزر کر شام کے شہر صور پہنچ گئے جہاں جہاز کو اپنا سامان اُتارنا تھا۔

Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden.

جہاز سے اُتر کر ہم نے مقامی شاگردوں کو تلاش کیا اور سات دن اُن کے ساتھ ٹھہرے۔ اُن ایمان داروں نے روح القدس کی ہدایت سے پولس کو سمجھانے کی کوشش کی کہ وہ یروشلم نہ جائے۔

And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.

جب ہم ایک ہفتے کے بعد جہاز پر واپس چلے گئے تو پوری جماعت بال بچوں سمیت ہمارے ساتھ شہر سے نکل کر ساحل تک آئی۔ وہیں ہم نے گھٹنے ٹیک کر دعا کی

And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.

اور ایک دوسرے کو الوداع کہا۔ پھر ہم دوبارہ جہاز پر سوار ہوئے جبکہ وہ اپنے گھروں کو لوٹ گئے۔

And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.

صور سے اپنا سفر جاری رکھ کر ہم پتُلَمَیِس پہنچے جہاں ہم نے مقامی ایمان داروں کو سلام کیا اور ایک دن اُن کے ساتھ گزارا۔

And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.

اگلے دن ہم روانہ ہو کر قیصریہ پہنچ گئے۔ وہاں ہم فلپّس کے گھر ٹھہرے۔ یہ وہی فلپّس تھا جو اللہ کی خوش خبری کا مناد تھا اور جسے ابتدائی دنوں میں یروشلم میں کھانا تقسیم کرنے کے لئے چھ اَور آدمیوں کے ساتھ مقرر کیا گیا تھا۔

And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Cæsarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

اُس کی چار غیرشادی شدہ بیٹیاں تھیں جو نبوّت کی نعمت رکھتی تھیں۔

And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

کئی دن گزر گئے تو یہودیہ سے ایک نبی آیا جس کا نام اگبس تھا۔

And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judæa a certain prophet, named Agabus.

جب وہ ہم سے ملنے آیا تو اُس نے پولس کی پیٹی لے کر اپنے پاؤں اور ہاتھوں کو باندھ لیا اور کہا، ”روح القدس فرماتا ہے کہ یروشلم میں یہودی اِس پیٹی کے مالک کو یوں باندھ کر غیریہودیوں کے حوالے کریں گے۔“

And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

یہ سن کر ہم نے مقامی ایمان داروں سمیت پولس کو سمجھانے کی خوب کوشش کی کہ وہ یروشلم نہ جائے۔

And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.

لیکن اُس نے جواب دیا، ”آپ کیوں روتے اور میرا دل توڑتے ہیں؟ دیکھیں، مَیں خداوند عیسیٰ کے نام کی خاطر یروشلم میں نہ صرف باندھے جانے بلکہ اُس کے لئے اپنی جان تک دینے کو تیار ہوں۔“

Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

ہم اُسے قائل نہ کر سکے، اِس لئے ہم یہ کہتے ہوئے خاموش ہو گئے کہ ”خداوند کی مرضی پوری ہو۔“

And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

اِس کے بعد ہم تیاریاں کر کے یروشلم چلے گئے۔

And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.

قیصریہ کے کچھ شاگرد بھی ہمارے ساتھ چلے اور ہمیں مناسون کے گھر پہنچا دیا جہاں ہمیں ٹھہرنا تھا۔ مناسون قبرص کا تھا اور جماعت کے ابتدائی دنوں میں ایمان لایا تھا۔

There went with us also certain of the disciples of Cæsarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.

جب ہم یروشلم پہنچے تو مقامی بھائیوں نے گرم جوشی سے ہمارا استقبال کیا۔

And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.

اگلے دن پولس ہمارے ساتھ یعقوب سے ملنے گیا۔ تمام مقامی بزرگ بھی حاضر ہوئے۔

And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.

اُنہیں سلام کر کے پولس نے تفصیل سے بیان کیا کہ اللہ نے اُس کی خدمت کی معرفت غیریہودیوں میں کیا کِیا تھا۔

And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.

یہ سن کر اُنہوں نے اللہ کی تمجید کی۔ پھر اُنہوں نے کہا، ”بھائی، آپ کو معلوم ہے کہ ہزاروں یہودی ایمان لائے ہیں۔ اور سب بڑی سرگرمی سے شریعت پر عمل کرتے ہیں۔

And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:

اُنہیں آپ کے بارے میں خبر دی گئی ہے کہ آپ غیریہودیوں کے درمیان رہنے والے یہودیوں کو تعلیم دیتے ہیں کہ وہ موسیٰ کی شریعت کو چھوڑ کر نہ اپنے بچوں کا ختنہ کروائیں اور نہ ہمارے رسم و رواج کے مطابق زندگی گزاریں۔

And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.

اب ہم کیا کریں؟ وہ تو ضرور سنیں گے کہ آپ یہاں آ گئے ہیں۔

What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.

اِس لئے ہم چاہتے ہیں کہ آپ یہ کریں: ہمارے پاس چار مرد ہیں جنہوں نے مَنت مان کر اُسے پورا کر لیا ہے۔

Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;

اب اُنہیں ساتھ لے کر اُن کی طہارت کی رسومات میں شریک ہو جائیں۔ اُن کے اخراجات بھی آپ برداشت کریں تاکہ وہ اپنے سروں کو منڈوا سکیں۔ پھر سب جان لیں گے کہ جو کچھ آپ کے بارے میں کہا جاتا ہے وہ جھوٹ ہے اور کہ آپ بھی شریعت کے مطابق زندگی گزار رہے ہیں۔

Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.

جہاں تک غیریہودی ایمان داروں کی بات ہے ہم اُنہیں اپنا فیصلہ خط کے ذریعے بھیج چکے ہیں کہ وہ اِن چیزوں سے پرہیز کریں: بُتوں کو پیش کیا گیا کھانا، خون، ایسے جانوروں کا گوشت جنہیں گلا گھونٹ کر مار دیا گیا ہو اور زناکاری۔“

As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

چنانچہ اگلے دن پولس اُن آدمیوں کو ساتھ لے کر اُن کی طہارت کی رسومات میں شریک ہوا۔ پھر وہ بیت المُقدّس میں اُس دن کا اعلان کرنے گیا جب طہارت کے دن پورے ہو جائیں گے اور اُن سب کے لئے قربانی پیش کی جائے گی۔

Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.

اِس رسم کے لئے مقررہ سات دن ختم ہونے کو تھے کہ صوبہ آسیہ کے کچھ یہودیوں نے پولس کو بیت المُقدّس میں دیکھا۔ اُنہوں نے پورے ہجوم میں ہل چل مچا کر اُسے پکڑ لیا

And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,

اور چیخنے لگے، ”اسرائیل کے حضرات، ہماری مدد کریں! یہ وہی آدمی ہے جو ہر جگہ تمام لوگوں کو ہماری قوم، ہماری شریعت اور اِس مقام کے خلاف تعلیم دیتا ہے۔ نہ صرف یہ بلکہ اِس نے بیت المُقدّس میں غیریہودیوں کو لا کر اِس مُقدّس جگہ کی بےحرمتی بھی کی ہے۔“

Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.

(یہ آخری بات اُنہوں نے اِس لئے کی کیونکہ اُنہوں نے شہر میں اِفسس کے غیریہودی ترفمس کو پولس کے ساتھ دیکھا اور خیال کیا تھا کہ وہ اُسے بیت المُقدّس میں لایا ہے۔)

(For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)

پورے شہر میں ہنگامہ برپا ہوا اور لوگ چاروں طرف سے دوڑ کر آئے۔ پولس کو پکڑ کر اُنہوں نے اُسے بیت المُقدّس سے باہر گھسیٹ لیا۔ جوں ہی وہ نکل گئے بیت المُقدّس کے صحن کے دروازوں کو بند کر دیا گیا۔

And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.

وہ اُسے مار ڈالنے کی کوشش کر رہے تھے کہ رومی پلٹن کے کمانڈر کو خبر مل گئی، ”پورے یروشلم میں ہل چل مچ گئی ہے۔“

And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

یہ سنتے ہی اُس نے اپنے فوجیوں اور افسروں کو اکٹھا کیا اور دوڑ کر اُن کے ساتھ ہجوم کے پاس اُتر گیا۔ جب ہجوم نے کمانڈر اور اُس کے فوجیوں کو دیکھا تو وہ پولس کی پٹائی کرنے سے رُک گیا۔

Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.

کمانڈر نے نزدیک آ کر اُسے گرفتار کیا اور دو زنجیروں سے باندھنے کا حکم دیا۔ پھر اُس نے پوچھا، ”یہ کون ہے؟ اِس نے کیا کِیا ہے؟“

Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.

ہجوم میں سے بعض کچھ چلّائے اور بعض کچھ۔ کمانڈر کوئی یقینی بات معلوم نہ کر سکا، کیونکہ افرا تفری اور شور شرابا بہت تھا۔ اِس لئے اُس نے حکم دیا کہ پولس کو قلعے میں لے جایا جائے۔

And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.

وہ قلعے کی سیڑھی تک پہنچ تو گئے، لیکن پھر ہجوم اِتنا بےقابو ہو گیا کہ فوجیوں کو اُسے اپنے کندھوں پر اُٹھا کر چلنا پڑا۔

And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.

لوگ اُن کے پیچھے پیچھے چلتے اور چیختے چلّاتے رہے، ”اُسے مار ڈالو! اُسے مار ڈالو!“

For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.

وہ پولس کو قلعے میں لے جا رہے تھے کہ اُس نے کمانڈر سے پوچھا، ”کیا آپ سے ایک بات کرنے کی اجازت ہے؟“ کمانڈر نے کہا، ”اچھا، آپ یونانی بول لیتے ہیں؟

And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?

تو کیا آپ وہی مصری نہیں ہیں جو کچھ دیر پہلے حکومت کے خلاف اُٹھ کر چار ہزار دہشت گردوں کو ریگستان میں لایا تھا؟“

Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?

پولس نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں یہودی اور کلِکیہ کے مرکزی شہر ترسس کا شہری ہوں۔ مہربانی کر کے مجھے لوگوں سے بات کرنے دیں۔“

But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.

کمانڈر مان گیا اور پولس نے سیڑھی پر کھڑے ہو کر ہاتھ سے اشارہ کیا۔ جب سب خاموش ہو گئے تو پولس اَرامی زبان میں اُن سے مخاطب ہوا،

And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,
