Psalms 81

Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

آسف کا زبور۔ موسیقی کے راہنما کے لئے۔ طرز: گتّیت۔ اللہ ہماری قوت ہے۔ اُس کی خوشی میں شادیانہ بجاؤ، یعقوب کے خدا کی تعظیم میں خوشی کے نعرے لگاؤ۔

Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

گیت گانا شروع کرو۔ دف بجاؤ، سرود اور ستار کی سُریلی آواز نکالو۔

Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

نئے چاند کے دن نرسنگا پھونکو، پورے چاند کے جس دن ہماری عید ہوتی ہے اُسے پھونکو۔

For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

کیونکہ یہ اسرائیل کا فرض ہے، یہ یعقوب کے خدا کا فرمان ہے۔

This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

جب یوسف مصر کے خلاف نکلا تو اللہ نے خود یہ مقرر کیا۔ مَیں نے ایک زبان سنی، جو مَیں اب تک نہیں جانتا تھا،

I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.

”مَیں نے اُس کے کندھے پر سے بوجھ اُتارا اور اُس کے ہاتھ بھاری ٹوکری اُٹھانے سے آزاد کئے۔

Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

مصیبت میں تُو نے آواز دی تو مَیں نے تجھے بچایا۔ گرجتے بادل میں سے مَیں نے تجھے جواب دیا اور تجھے مریبہ کے پانی پر آزمایا۔ (سِلاہ)

Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

اے میری قوم، سن، تو مَیں تجھے آگاہ کروں گا۔ اے اسرائیل، کاش تُو میری سنے!

There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

تیرے درمیان کوئی اَور خدا نہ ہو، کسی اجنبی معبود کو سجدہ نہ کر۔

I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

مَیں ہی رب تیرا خدا ہوں جو تجھے ملکِ مصر سے نکال لایا۔ اپنا منہ خوب کھول تو مَیں اُسے بھر دوں گا۔

But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

لیکن میری قوم نے میری نہ سنی، اسرائیل میری بات ماننے کے لئے تیار نہ تھا۔

So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

چنانچہ مَیں نے اُنہیں اُن کے دلوں کی ضد کے حوالے کر دیا، اور وہ اپنے ذاتی مشوروں کے مطابق زندگی گزارنے لگے۔

Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

کاش میری قوم سنے، اسرائیل میری راہوں پر چلے!

I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

تب مَیں جلدی سے اُس کے دشمنوں کو زیر کرتا، اپنا ہاتھ اُس کے مخالفوں کے خلاف اُٹھاتا۔

The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.

تب رب سے نفرت کرنے والے دبک کر اُس کی خوشامد کرتے، اُن کی شکست ابدی ہوتی۔

He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

لیکن اسرائیل کو مَیں بہترین گندم کھلاتا، مَیں چٹان میں سے شہد نکال کر اُسے سیر کرتا۔“
