Psalms 2

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

اقوام کیوں طیش میں آ گئی ہیں؟ اُمّتیں کیوں بےکار سازشیں کر رہی ہیں؟

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

دنیا کے بادشاہ اُٹھ کھڑے ہوئے، حکمران رب اور اُس کے مسیح کے خلاف جمع ہو گئے ہیں۔

2:3

Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

وہ کہتے ہیں، ”آؤ، ہم اُن کی زنجیروں کو توڑ کر آزاد ہو جائیں، اُن کے رسّوں کو دُور تک پھینک دیں۔“

2:4

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

لیکن جو آسمان پر تخت نشین ہے وہ ہنستا ہے، رب اُن کا مذاق اُڑاتا ہے۔

2:5

Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

پھر وہ غصے سے اُنہیں ڈانٹتا، اپنا شدید غضب اُن پر نازل کر کے اُنہیں ڈراتا ہے۔

2:6

Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

وہ فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں نے خود اپنے بادشاہ کو اپنے مُقدّس پہاڑ صیون پر مقرر کیا ہے!“

2:7

I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

آؤ، مَیں رب کا فرمان سناؤں۔ اُس نے مجھ سے کہا، ”تُو میرا بیٹا ہے، آج مَیں تیرا باپ بن گیا ہوں۔

2:8

Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

مجھ سے مانگ تو مَیں تجھے میراث میں تمام اقوام عطا کروں گا، دنیا کی انتہا تک سب کچھ بخش دوں گا۔

2:9

Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

تُو اُنہیں لوہے کے شاہی عصا سے پاش پاش کرے گا، اُنہیں مٹی کے برتنوں کی طرح چِکنا چُور کرے گا۔“

2:10

Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

چنانچہ اے بادشاہو، سمجھ سے کام لو! اے دنیا کے حکمرانو، تربیت قبول کرو!

2:11

Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

خوف کرتے ہوئے رب کی خدمت کرو، لرزتے ہوئے خوشی مناؤ۔

2:12

Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

بیٹے کو بوسہ دو، ایسا نہ ہو کہ وہ غصے ہو جائے اور تم راستے میں ہی ہلاک ہو جاؤ۔ کیونکہ وہ ایک دم طیش میں آ جاتا ہے۔ مبارک ہیں وہ سب جو اُس میں پناہ لیتے ہیں۔
