Jeremiah 50

The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.

ملکِ بابل اور اُس کے دار الحکومت بابل کے بارے میں رب کا کلام یرمیاہ نبی پر نازل ہوا،

Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.

”اقوام کے سامنے اعلان کرو، ہر جگہ اطلاع دو! جھنڈا گاڑ کر کچھ نہ چھپاؤ بلکہ سب کو صاف بتاؤ، ’بابل شہر دشمن کے قبضے میں آ گیا ہے! بیل دیوتا کی بےحرمتی ہوئی ہے، مردُک دیوتا پاش پاش ہو گیا ہے۔ بابل کے تمام دیوتاؤں کی بےحرمتی ہوئی ہے، تمام بُت چِکنا چُور ہو گئے ہیں!‘

For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.

کیونکہ شمال سے ایک قوم بابل پر چڑھ آئی ہے جو پورے ملک کو برباد کر دے گی۔ انسان اور حیوان سب ہجرت کر جائیں گے، ملک میں کوئی نہیں رہے گا۔“

In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”جب یہ وقت آئے گا تو اسرائیل اور یہوداہ کے لوگ مل کر اپنے وطن میں واپس آئیں گے۔ تب وہ روتے ہوئے رب اپنے خدا کو تلاش کرنے آئیں گے۔

They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.

وہ صیون کا راستہ پوچھ پوچھ کر اپنا رُخ اُس طرف کر لیں گے اور کہیں گے، ’آؤ، ہم رب کے ساتھ لپٹ جائیں، ہم اُس کے ساتھ ابدی عہد باندھ لیں جو کبھی نہ بُھلایا جائے۔‘

My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.

میری قوم کی حالت گم شدہ بھیڑبکریوں کی مانند تھی۔ کیونکہ اُن کے گلہ بانوں نے اُنہیں غلط راہ پر لا کر فریب دہ پہاڑوں پر آوارہ پھرنے دیا تھا۔ یوں پہاڑوں پر اِدھر اُدھر گھومتے گھومتے وہ اپنی آرام گاہ بھول گئے تھے۔

All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.

جو بھی اُن کو پاتے وہ اُنہیں پکڑ کر کھا جاتے تھے۔ اُن کے مخالف کہتے تھے، ’اِس میں ہمارا کیا قصور ہے؟ اُنہوں نے تو رب کا گناہ کیا ہے، گو وہ اُن کی حقیقی چراگاہ ہے اور اُن کے باپ دادا اُس پر اُمید رکھتے تھے۔‘

Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks.

اے میری قوم، ملکِ بابل اور اُس کے دار الحکومت سے بھاگ نکلو! اُن بکروں کی مانند بن جاؤ جو ریوڑ کی راہنمائی کرتے ہیں۔

For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.

کیونکہ مَیں شمالی ملک میں بڑی قوموں کے اتحاد کو بابل پر حملہ کرنے پر اُبھاروں گا، جو اُس کے خلاف صف آرا ہو کر اُس پر قبضہ کرے گا۔ دشمن کے تیرانداز اِتنے ماہر ہوں گے کہ ہر تیر نشانے پر لگ جائے گا۔“

And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”بابل کو یوں لُوٹ لیا جائے گا کہ تمام لُوٹنے والے سیر ہو جائیں گے۔

Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;

اے میرے موروثی حصے کو لُوٹنے والو، بےشک تم اِس وقت شادیانہ بجا کر خوشی مناتے ہو۔ بےشک تم گاہتے ہوئے بچھڑوں کی طرح اُچھلتے کودتے اور گھوڑوں کی طرح ہنہناتے ہو۔

Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

لیکن آئندہ تمہاری ماں بےحد شرمندہ ہو جائے گی، جس نے تمہیں جنم دیا وہ رُسوا ہو جائے گی۔ آئندہ بابل سب سے ذلیل قوم ہو گی، وہ خشک اور ویران ریگستان ہی ہو گی۔

Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

جب رب کا غضب اُن پر نازل ہو گا تو وہاں کوئی آباد نہیں رہے گا بلکہ ملک سراسر ویران و سنسان رہے گا۔ بابل سے گزرنے والوں کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو جائیں گے، اُس کے زخموں کو دیکھ کر سب ’توبہ توبہ‘ کہیں گے۔

Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the LORD.

اے تیراندازو، بابل شہر کو گھیر کر اُس پر تیر برساؤ! تمام تیر استعمال کرو، ایک بھی باقی نہ رہے، کیونکہ اُس نے رب کا گناہ کیا ہے۔

Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.

چاروں طرف اُس کے خلاف جنگ کے نعرے لگاؤ! دیکھو، اُس نے ہتھیار ڈال دیئے ہیں۔ اُس کے بُرج گر گئے، اُس کی دیواریں مسمار ہو گئی ہیں۔ رب انتقام لے رہا ہے، چنانچہ بابل سے خوب بدلہ لو۔ جو سلوک اُس نے دوسروں کے ساتھ کیا، وہی اُس کے ساتھ کرو۔

Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.

بابل میں جو بیج بوتے اور فصل کے وقت درانتی چلاتے ہیں اُنہیں رُوئے زمین پر سے مٹا دو۔ اُس وقت شہر کے پردیسی مہلک تلوار سے بھاگ کر اپنے اپنے وطن میں واپس چلے جائیں گے۔

Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.

اسرائیلی قوم شیرببروں کے حملے سے بکھرے ہوئے ریوڑ کی مانند ہے۔ کیونکہ پہلے شاہِ اسور نے آ کر اُسے ہڑپ کر لیا، پھر شاہِ بابل نبوکدنضر نے اُس کی ہڈیوں کو چبا لیا۔“

Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.

اِس لئے رب الافواج جو اسرائیل کا خدا ہے فرماتا ہے، ”پہلے مَیں نے شاہِ اسور کو سزا دی، اور اب مَیں شاہِ بابل کو اُس کے ملک سمیت وہی سزا دوں گا۔

And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.

لیکن اسرائیل کو مَیں اُس کی اپنی چراگاہ میں واپس لاؤں گا، اور وہ دوبارہ کرمل اور بسن کی ڈھلانوں پر چَرے گا، وہ دوبارہ افرائیم اور جِلعاد کے پہاڑی علاقوں میں سیر ہو جائے گا۔“

In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اُن دنوں میں جو اسرائیل کا قصور ڈھونڈ نکالنے کی کوشش کرے اُسے کچھ نہیں ملے گا۔ یہی یہوداہ کی حالت بھی ہو گی۔ اُس کے گناہ پائے نہیں جائیں گے، کیونکہ جن لوگوں کو مَیں زندہ چھوڑوں گا اُنہیں مَیں معاف کر دوں گا۔“

Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”ملکِ مراتائم اور فقود کے باشندوں پر حملہ کرو! اُنہیں مارتے مارتے صفحۂ ہستی سے مٹا دو! جو بھی حکم مَیں نے دیا اُس پر عمل کرو۔

A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.

ملکِ بابل میں جنگ کا شور شرابہ سنو! بابل کی ہول ناک شکست دیکھو!

How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!

جو پہلے تمام دنیا کا ہتھوڑا تھا اُسے توڑ کر ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر دیا گیا ہے۔ بابل کو دیکھ کر لوگوں کو سخت دھچکا لگتا ہے۔

I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD.

اے بابل، مَیں نے تیرے لئے پھندا لگا دیا، اور تجھے پتا نہ چلا بلکہ تُو اُس میں پھنس گیا۔ چونکہ تُو نے رب کا مقابلہ کیا اِسی لئے تیرا کھوج لگایا گیا اور تجھے پکڑا گیا۔“

The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.

قادرِ مطلق جو رب الافواج ہے فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں اپنا اسلحہ خانہ کھول کر اپنا غضب نازل کرنے کے ہتھیار نکال لایا ہوں، کیونکہ ملکِ بابل میں اُن کی اشد ضرورت ہے۔

Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.

چاروں طرف سے بابل پر چڑھ آؤ! اُس کے اناج کے گوداموں کو کھول کر سارے مال کا ڈھیر لگاؤ! پھر سب کچھ نیست و نابود کرو، کچھ بچا نہ رہے۔

Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation.

اُس کے تمام بَیلوں کو ذبح کرو! سب قصائی کی زد میں آئیں! اُن پر افسوس، کیونکہ اُن کا مقررہ دن، اُن کی سزا کا وقت آ گیا ہے۔

The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple.

سنو! ملکِ بابل سے بچے ہوئے پناہ گزیں صیون میں بتا رہے ہیں کہ رب ہمارے خدا نے کس طرح انتقام لیا۔ کیونکہ اب اُس نے اپنے گھر کا بدلہ لیا ہے!

Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.

تمام تیراندازوں کو بُلاؤ تاکہ بابل پر حملہ کریں! اُسے گھیر لو تاکہ کوئی نہ بچے۔ اُسے اُس کی حرکتوں کا مناسب اجر دو! جو بُرا سلوک اُس نے دوسروں کے ساتھ کیا وہی اُس کے ساتھ کرو۔ کیونکہ اُس کا رویہ رب، اسرائیل کے قدوس کے ساتھ گستاخانہ تھا۔

Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD.

اِس لئے اُس کے نوجوان گلیوں میں گر کر مر جائیں گے، اُس کے تمام فوجی اُس دن ہلاک ہو جائیں گے۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.

قادرِ مطلق رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ”اے گستاخ شہر، مَیں تجھ سے نپٹنے والا ہوں۔ کیونکہ وہ دن آ گیا ہے جب تجھے سزا ملنی ہے۔

And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.

تب گستاخ شہر ٹھوکر کھا کر گر جائے گا، اور کوئی اُسے دوبارہ کھڑا نہیں کرے گا۔ مَیں اُس کے تمام شہروں میں آگ لگا دوں گا جو گرد و نواح میں سب کچھ راکھ کر دے گی۔“

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ”اسرائیل اور یہوداہ کے لوگوں پر ظلم ہوا ہے۔ جنہوں نے اُنہیں اسیر کر کے جلاوطن کیا ہے وہ اُنہیں رِہا نہیں کرنا چاہتے، اُنہیں جانے نہیں دیتے۔

Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

لیکن اُن کا چھڑانے والا قوی ہے، اُس کا نام رب الافواج ہے۔ وہ خوب لڑ کر اُن کا معاملہ درست کرے گا تاکہ ملک کو آرام و سکون مل جائے۔ لیکن بابل کے باشندوں کو وہ تھرتھرانے دے گا۔“

A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”تلوار بابل کی قوم پر ٹوٹ پڑے! وہ بابل کے باشندوں، اُس کے بزرگوں اور دانش مندوں پر ٹوٹ پڑے!

A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.

تلوار اُس کے جھوٹے نبیوں پر ٹوٹ پڑے تاکہ بےوقوف ثابت ہوں۔ تلوار اُس کے سورماؤں پر ٹوٹ پڑے تاکہ اُن پر دہشت چھا جائے۔

A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.

تلوار بابل کے گھوڑوں، رتھوں اور پردیسی فوجیوں پر ٹوٹ پڑے تاکہ وہ عورتوں کی مانند بن جائیں۔ تلوار اُس کے خزانوں پر ٹوٹ پڑے تاکہ وہ چھین لئے جائیں۔

A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.

تلوار اُس کے پانی کے ذخیروں پر ٹوٹ پڑے تاکہ وہ خشک ہو جائیں۔ کیونکہ ملکِ بابل بُتوں سے بھرا ہوا ہے، ایسے بُتوں سے جن کے باعث لوگ دیوانوں کی طرح پھرتے ہیں۔

Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation.

آخر میں گلیوں میں صرف ریگستان کے جانور اور جنگلی کُتے پھریں گے، وہاں عقابی اُلّو بسیں گے۔ وہ ہمیشہ تک انسان کی بستیوں سے محروم اور نسل در نسل غیرآباد رہے گا۔“

As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اُس کی حالت سدوم اور عمورہ کی سی ہو گی جنہیں مَیں نے پڑوس کے شہروں سمیت اُلٹا کر صفحۂ ہستی سے مٹا دیا۔ آئندہ وہاں کوئی نہیں بسے گا، کوئی نہیں آباد ہو گا۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.

”دیکھو، شمال سے فوج آ رہی ہے، ایک بڑی قوم اور متعدد بادشاہ دنیا کی انتہا سے روانہ ہوئے ہیں۔

They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon.

اُس کے ظالم اور بےرحم فوجی کمان اور شمشیر سے لیس ہیں۔ جب وہ اپنے گھوڑوں پر سوار ہو کر چلتے ہیں تو گرجتے سمندر کا سا شور برپا ہوتا ہے۔ اے بابل بیٹی، وہ سب جنگ کے لئے تیار ہو کر تجھ سے لڑنے آ رہے ہیں۔

The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.

اُن کی خبر سنتے ہی شاہِ بابل ہمت ہار گیا ہے۔ خوف زدہ ہو کر وہ دردِ زہ میں مبتلا عورت کی طرح تڑپنے لگا ہے۔

Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?

جس طرح شیرببر یردن کے جنگلوں سے نکل کر شاداب چراگاہوں میں چرنے والی بھیڑوں پر ٹوٹ پڑتا ہے اُسی طرح مَیں بابل کو ایک دم اُس کے ملک سے بھگا دوں گا۔ پھر مَیں اپنے چنے ہوئے آدمی کو بابل پر مقرر کروں گا۔ کیونکہ کون میرے برابر ہے؟ کون مجھ سے جواب طلب کر سکتا ہے؟ وہ گلہ بان کہاں ہے جو میرا مقابلہ کر سکے؟“

Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.

چنانچہ بابل پر رب کا فیصلہ سنو، ملکِ بابل کے لئے اُس کے منصوبے پر دھیان دو! ”دشمن پورے ریوڑ کو سب سے ننھے بچوں سے لے کر بڑوں تک گھسیٹ کر لے جائے گا۔ اُس کی چراگاہ ویران و سنسان ہو جائے گی۔

At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.

جوں ہی نعرہ بلند ہو گا کہ بابل دشمن کے قبضے میں آ گیا ہے تو زمین لرز اُٹھے گی۔ تب مدد کے لئے بابل کی چیخیں دیگر ممالک تک گونجیں گی۔“
