Isaiah 28

Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

سامریہ پر افسوس جو اسرائیلی شرابیوں کا شاندار تاج ہے۔ اُس شہر پر افسوس جو اسرائیل کی شان و شوکت تھا لیکن اب مُرجھانے والا پھول ہے۔ اُس آبادی پر افسوس جو نشے میں دُھت لوگوں کی زرخیز وادی کے اوپر تخت نشین ہے۔

Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

دیکھو، رب ایک زبردست سورما بھیجے گا جو اولوں کے طوفان، تباہ کن آندھی اور سیلاب پیدا کرنے والی موسلادھار بارش کی طرح سامریہ پر ٹوٹ پڑے گا اور زور سے اُسے زمین پر پٹخ دے گا۔

The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

تب اسرائیلی شرابیوں کا شاندار تاج سامریہ پاؤں تلے روندا جائے گا۔

And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.

تب یہ مُرجھانے والا پھول جو زرخیز وادی کے اوپر تخت نشین ہے اور اُس کی شان و شوکت ختم ہو جائے گی۔ اُس کا حال فصل سے پہلے پکنے والے انجیر جیسا ہو گا۔ کیونکہ جوں ہی کوئی اُسے دیکھے وہ اُسے توڑ کر ہڑپ کر لے گا۔

In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

اُس دن رب الافواج خود اسرائیل کا شاندار تاج ہو گا، وہ اپنی قوم کے بچے ہوؤں کا جلالی سہرا ہو گا۔

And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

وہ عدالت کرنے والے کو انصاف کی روح دلائے گا اور شہر کے دروازے پر دشمن کو پیچھے دھکیلنے والوں کے لئے طاقت کا باعث ہو گا۔

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

لیکن یہ لوگ بھی مَے کے اثر سے ڈگمگا رہے اور شراب پی پی کر لڑکھڑا رہے ہیں۔ امام اور نبی نشے میں جھوم رہے ہیں۔ مَے پینے سے اُن کے دماغوں میں خلل آ گیا ہے، شراب پی پی کر وہ چکر کھا رہے ہیں۔ رویا دیکھتے وقت وہ جھومتے، فیصلے کرتے وقت جھولتے ہیں۔

For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

تمام میزیں اُن کی قَے سے گندی ہیں، اُن کی غلاظت ہر طرف نظر آتی ہے۔

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

وہ آپس میں کہتے ہیں، ”یہ شخص ہمارے ساتھ اِس قسم کی باتیں کیوں کرتا ہے؟ ہمیں تعلیم دیتے اور الٰہی پیغام کا مطلب سناتے وقت وہ ہمیں یوں سمجھاتا ہے گویا ہم چھوٹے بچے ہوں جن کا دودھ ابھی ابھی چھڑایا گیا ہو۔

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

کیونکہ یہ کہتا ہے، ’صَو لاصَو صَو لاصَو، قَو لاقَو قَو لاقَو، تھوڑا سا اِس طرف تھوڑا سا اُس طرف‘۔“

For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

چنانچہ اب اللہ ہکلاتے ہوئے ہونٹوں اور غیرزبانوں کی معرفت اِس قوم سے بات کرے گا۔

To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

گو اُس نے اُن سے فرمایا تھا، ”یہ آرام کی جگہ ہے۔ تھکے ماندوں کو آرام دو، کیونکہ یہیں وہ سکون پائیں گے۔“ لیکن وہ سننے کے لئے تیار نہیں تھے۔

But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

اِس لئے آئندہ رب اُن سے اِن ہی الفاظ سے ہم کلام ہو گا، ”صَو لاصَو صَو لاصَو، قَو لاقَو قَو لاقَو، تھوڑا سا اِس طرف، تھوڑا سا اُس طرف۔“ کیونکہ لازم ہے کہ وہ چل کر ٹھوکر کھائیں، اور دھڑام سے اپنی پشت پر گر جائیں، کہ وہ زخمی ہو جائیں اور پھندے میں پھنس کر گرفتار ہو جائیں۔

Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

چنانچہ اب رب کا کلام سن لو، اے مذاق اُڑانے والو، جو یروشلم میں بسنے والی اِس قوم پر حکومت کرتے ہو۔

Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

تم شیخی مار کر کہتے ہو، ”ہم نے موت سے عہد باندھا اور پاتال سے معاہدہ کیا ہے۔ اِس لئے جب سزا کا سیلاب ہم پر سے گزرے تو ہمیں نقصان نہیں پہنچائے گا۔ کیونکہ ہم نے جھوٹ میں پناہ لی اور دھوکے میں چھپ گئے ہیں۔“

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

اِس کے جواب میں رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے، ”دیکھو، مَیں صیون میں ایک پتھر رکھ دیتا ہوں، کونے کا ایک آزمودہ اور قیمتی پتھر جو مضبوط بنیاد پر لگا ہے۔ جو ایمان لائے گا وہ کبھی نہیں ہلے گا۔

Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

انصاف میرا فیتہ اور راستی میری ساہول کی ڈوری ہو گی۔ اِن سے مَیں سب کچھ پرکھوں گا۔ اولے اُس جھوٹ کا صفایا کریں گے جس میں تم نے پناہ لی ہے، اور سیلاب تیری چھپنے کی جگہ اُڑا کر اپنے ساتھ بہا لے جائے گا۔

And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

تب تیرا موت کے ساتھ عہد منسوخ ہو جائے گا، اور تیرا پاتال کے ساتھ معاہدہ قائم نہیں رہے گا۔ سزا کا سیلاب تم پر سے گزر کر تمہیں پامال کرے گا۔

From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

وہ صبح بہ صبح اور دن رات گزرے گا، اور جب بھی گزرے گا تو تمہیں اپنے ساتھ بہا لے جائے گا۔ اُس وقت لوگ دہشت زدہ ہو کر کلام کا مطلب سمجھیں گے۔“

For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

چارپائی اِتنی چھوٹی ہو گی کہ تم پاؤں پھیلا کر سو نہیں سکو گے۔ بستر کی چوڑائی اِتنی کم ہو گی کہ تم اُسے لپیٹ کر آرام نہیں کر سکو گے۔

For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

کیونکہ رب اُٹھ کر یوں تم پر جھپٹ پڑے گا جس طرح پراضیم پہاڑ کے پاس فلستیوں پر جھپٹ پڑا۔ جس طرح وادیِ جِبعون میں اموریوں پر ٹوٹ پڑا اُسی طرح وہ تم پر ٹوٹ پڑے گا۔ اور جو کام وہ کرے گا وہ عجیب ہو گا، جو قدم وہ اُٹھائے گا وہ معمول سے ہٹ کر ہو گا۔

Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

چنانچہ اپنی طعنہ زنی سے باز آؤ، ورنہ تمہاری زنجیریں مزید زور سے کس دی جائیں گی۔ کیونکہ مجھے قادرِ مطلق رب الافواج سے پیغام ملا ہے کہ تمام دنیا کی تباہی متعین ہے۔

Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.

غور سے میری بات سنو! دھیان سے اُس پر کان دھرو جو مَیں کہہ رہا ہوں!

Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?

جب کسان کھیت کو بیج بونے کے لئے تیار کرتا ہے تو کیا وہ پورا دن ہل چلاتا رہتا ہے؟ کیا وہ اپنا پورا وقت زمین کھودنے اور ڈھیلے توڑنے میں صَرف کرتا ہے؟

When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place?

ہرگز نہیں! جب پورے کھیت کی سطح ہموار اور تیار ہے تو وہ اپنی اپنی جگہ پر سیاہ زیرہ اور سفید زیرہ، گندم، باجرا اور جَو کا بیج بوتا ہے۔ آخر میں وہ کنارے پر چارے کا بیج بوتا ہے۔

For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.

کسان کو خوب معلوم ہے کہ کیا کیا کرنا ہوتا ہے، کیونکہ اُس کے خدا نے اُسے تعلیم دے کر صحیح طریقہ سکھایا۔

For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.

چنانچہ سیاہ زیرہ اور سفید زیرہ کو اناج کی طرح گاہا نہیں جاتا۔ دانے نکالنے کے لئے اُن پر وزنی چیز نہیں چلائی جاتی بلکہ اُنہیں ڈنڈے سے مارا جاتا ہے۔

Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.

اور کیا اناج کو گاہ گاہ کر پیسا جاتا ہے؟ ہر گز نہیں! کسان اُسے حد سے زیادہ نہیں گاہتا۔ گو اُس کے گھوڑے کوئی وزنی چیز کھینچتے ہوئے بالیوں پر سے گزرتے ہیں تاکہ دانے نکلیں تاہم کسان دھیان دیتا ہے کہ دانے پِس نہ جائیں۔

This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

اُسے یہ علم بھی رب الافواج سے ملا ہے جو زبردست مشوروں اور کامل حکمت کا منبع ہے۔
