Isaiah 29

Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! add ye year to year; let them kill sacrifices.

اے اری ایل، اری ایل ، تجھ پر افسوس! اے شہر جس میں داؤد خیمہ زن تھا، تجھ پر افسوس! چلو، سال بہ سال اپنے تہوار مناتے رہو۔

Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.

لیکن مَیں اری ایل کو یوں گھیر کر تنگ کروں گا کہ اُس میں آہ و زاری سنائی دے گی۔ تب یروشلم میرے نزدیک صحیح معنوں میں اری ایل ثابت ہو گا۔

And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee.

کیونکہ مَیں تجھے ہر طرف سے پُشتہ بندی سے گھیر کر بند رکھوں گا، تیرے محاصرے کا پورا بندوبست کروں گا۔

And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

تب تُو اِتنا پست ہو گا کہ خاک میں سے بولے گا، تیری دبی دبی آواز گرد میں سے نکلے گی۔ جس طرح مُردہ روح زمین کے اندر سے سرگوشی کرتی ہے اُسی طرح تیری دھیمی دھیمی آواز زمین میں سے نکلے گی۔

Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones shall be as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.

لیکن اچانک تیرے متعدد دشمن باریک دُھول کی طرح اُڑ جائیں گے، ظالموں کا غول ہَوا میں بھوسے کی طرح تتر بتر ہو جائے گا۔ کیونکہ اچانک، ایک ہی لمحے میں

Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

رب الافواج اُن پر ٹوٹ پڑے گا۔ وہ بجلی کی کڑکتی آوازیں، زلزلہ، بڑا شور، تیز آندھی، طوفان اور بھسم کرنے والی آگ کے شعلے اپنے ساتھ لے کر شہر کی مدد کرنے آئے گا۔

And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.

تب اری ایل سے لڑنے والی تمام قوموں کے غول خواب جیسے لگیں گے۔ جو یروشلم پر حملہ کر کے اُس کا محاصرہ کر رہے اور اُسے تنگ کر رہے تھے وہ رات میں رویا جیسے غیرحقیقی لگیں گے۔

It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

تمہارے دشمن اُس بھوکے آدمی کی مانند ہوں گے جو خواب میں دیکھتا ہے کہ مَیں کھانا کھا رہا ہوں، لیکن پھر جاگ کر جان لیتا ہے کہ مَیں ویسے کا ویسا بھوکا ہوں۔ تمہارے مخالف اُس پیاسے آدمی کی مانند ہوں گے جو خواب میں دیکھتا ہے کہ مَیں پانی پی رہا ہوں، لیکن پھر جاگ کر جان لیتا ہے کہ مَیں ویسے کا ویسا نڈھال اور پیاسا ہوں۔ یہی اُن تمام بین الاقوامی غولوں کا حال ہو گا جو کوہِ صیون سے جنگ کریں گے۔

Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.

حیرت زدہ ہو کر ہکا بکا رہ جاؤ! اندھے ہو کر نابینا ہو جاؤ! متوالے ہو جاؤ، لیکن مَے سے نہیں۔ لڑکھڑاتے جاؤ، لیکن شراب سے نہیں۔

For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

کیونکہ رب نے تمہیں گہری نیند سُلا دیا ہے، اُس نے تمہاری آنکھوں یعنی نبیوں کو بند کیا اور تمہارے سروں یعنی رویا دیکھنے والوں پر پردہ ڈال دیا ہے۔

And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:

اِس لئے جو بھی کلام نازل ہوا ہے وہ تمہارے لئے سر بہ مُہر کتاب ہی ہے۔ اگر اُسے کسی پڑھے لکھے آدمی کو دیا جائے تاکہ پڑھے تو وہ جواب دے گا، ”یہ پڑھا نہیں جا سکتا، کیونکہ اِس پر مُہر ہے۔“

And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

اور اگر اُسے کسی اَن پڑھ آدمی کو دیا جائے تو وہ کہے گا، ”مَیں اَن پڑھ ہوں۔“

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

رب فرماتا ہے، ”یہ قوم میرے حضور آ کر اپنی زبان اور ہونٹوں سے تو میرا احترام کرتی ہے، لیکن اُس کا دل مجھ سے دُور ہے۔ اُن کی خدا ترسی صرف انسان ہی کے رٹے رٹائے احکام پر مبنی ہے۔

Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

اِس لئے آئندہ بھی میرا اِس قوم کے ساتھ سلوک حیرت انگیز ہو گا۔ ہاں، میرا سلوک عجیب و غریب ہو گا۔ تب اُس کے دانش مندوں کی دانش جاتی رہے گی، اور اُس کے سمجھ داروں کی سمجھ غائب ہو جائے گی۔“

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

اُن پر افسوس جو اپنا منصوبہ زمین کی گہرائیوں میں دبا کر رب سے چھپانے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں، جو تاریکی میں اپنے کام کر کے کہتے ہیں، ”کون ہمیں دیکھ لے گا، کون ہمیں پہچان لے گا؟“

Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

تمہاری کج رَوی پر لعنت! کیا کمہار کو اُس کے گارے کے برابر سمجھا جاتا ہے؟ کیا بنی ہوئی چیز بنانے والے کے بارے میں کہتی ہے، ”اُس نے مجھے نہیں بنایا“؟ یا کیا جس کو تشکیل دیا گیا ہے وہ تشکیل دینے والے کے بارے میں کہتا ہے، ”وہ کچھ نہیں سمجھتا“؟ ہرگز نہیں!

Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

تھوڑی ہی دیر کے بعد لبنان کا جنگل پھلتے پھولتے باغ میں تبدیل ہو گا جبکہ پھلتا پھولتا باغ جنگل سا لگے گا۔

And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

اُس دن بہرے کتاب کی تلاوت سنیں گے، اور اندھوں کی آنکھیں اندھیرے اور تاریکی میں سے نکل کر دیکھ سکیں گی۔

The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

ایک بار پھر فروتن رب کی خوشی منائیں گے، اور محتاج اسرائیل کے قدوس کے باعث شادیانہ بجائیں گے۔

For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:

ظالم کا نام و نشان نہیں رہے گا، طعنہ زن ختم ہو جائیں گے، اور دوسروں کی تاک میں بیٹھنے والے سب کے سب رُوئے زمین پر سے مٹ جائیں گے۔

That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.

یہی اُن کا انجام ہو گا جو عدالت میں دوسروں کو قصوروار ٹھہراتے، شہر کے دروازے میں عدالت کرنے والے قاضی کو پھنسانے کی کوشش کرتے اور جھوٹی گواہیوں سے بےقصور کا حق مارتے ہیں۔

Therefore thus saith the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.

چنانچہ رب جس نے پہلے ابراہیم کا بھی فدیہ دے کر اُسے چھڑایا تھا یعقوب کے گھرانے سے فرماتا ہے، ”اب سے یعقوب شرمندہ نہیں ہو گا، اب سے اسرائیلیوں کا رنگ فق نہیں پڑ جائے گا۔

But when he seeth his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.

جب وہ اپنے درمیان اپنے بچوں کو جو میرے ہاتھوں کا کام ہیں دیکھیں گے تو وہ میرے نام کو مُقدّس مانیں گے۔ وہ یعقوب کے قدوس کو مُقدّس جانیں گے اور اسرائیل کے خدا کا خوف مانیں گے۔

They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.

اُس وقت جن کی روح آوارہ ہے وہ سمجھ حاصل کریں گے، اور بڑبڑانے والے تعلیم قبول کریں گے۔“
