II Corinthians 3

Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?

کیا ہم دوبارہ اپنی خوبیوں کا ڈھنڈورا پیٹ رہے ہیں؟ یا کیا ہم بعض لوگوں کی مانند ہیں جنہیں آپ کو سفارشی خط دینے یا آپ سے ایسے خط لکھوانے کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے؟

Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

نہیں، آپ تو خود ہمارا خط ہیں جو ہمارے دلوں پر لکھا ہوا ہے۔ سب اِسے پہچان اور پڑھ سکتے ہیں۔

Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

یہ صاف ظاہر ہے کہ آپ مسیح کا خط ہیں جو اُس نے ہماری خدمت کے ذریعے لکھ دیا ہے۔ اور یہ خط سیاہی سے نہیں بلکہ زندہ خدا کے روح سے لکھا گیا، پتھر کی تختیوں پر نہیں بلکہ انسانی دلوں پر۔

And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:

ہم یہ اِس لئے یقین سے کہہ سکتے ہیں کیونکہ ہم مسیح کے وسیلے سے اللہ پر اعتماد رکھتے ہیں۔

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

ہمارے اندر تو کچھ نہیں ہے جس کی بنا پر ہم دعویٰ کر سکتے کہ ہم یہ کام کرنے کے لائق ہیں۔ نہیں، ہماری لیاقت اللہ کی طرف سے ہے۔

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

اُسی نے ہمیں نئے عہد کے خادم ہونے کے لائق بنا دیا ہے۔ اور یہ عہد لکھی ہوئی شریعت پر مبنی نہیں ہے بلکہ روح پر، کیونکہ لکھی ہوئی شریعت کے اثر سے ہم مر جاتے ہیں جبکہ روح ہمیں زندہ کر دیتا ہے۔

But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:

شریعت کے حروف پتھر کی تختیوں پر کندہ کئے گئے اور جب اُسے دیا گیا تو اللہ کا جلال ظاہر ہوا۔ یہ جلال اِتنا تیز تھا کہ اسرائیلی موسیٰ کے چہرے کو لگاتار دیکھ نہ سکے۔ اگر اُس چیز کا جلال اِتنا تیز تھا جو اب منسوخ ہے

How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?

تو کیا روح کے نظام کا جلال اِس سے کہیں زیادہ نہیں ہو گا؟

For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

اگر پرانا نظام جو ہمیں مجرم ٹھہراتا تھا جلالی تھا تو پھر نیا نظام جو ہمیں راست باز قرار دیتا ہے کہیں زیادہ جلالی ہو گا۔

For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.

ہاں، پہلے نظام کا جلال نئے نظام کے زبردست جلال کی نسبت کچھ بھی نہیں ہے۔

For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.

اور اگر اُس پرانے نظام کا جلال بہت تھا جو اب منسوخ ہے تو پھر اُس نئے نظام کا جلال کہیں زیادہ ہو گا جو قائم رہے گا۔

Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:

پس چونکہ ہم ایسی اُمید رکھتے ہیں اِس لئے بڑی دلیری سے خدمت کرتے ہیں۔

And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

ہم موسیٰ کی مانند نہیں ہیں جس نے شریعت سنانے کے اختتام پر اپنے چہرے پر نقاب ڈال لیا تاکہ اسرائیلی اُسے تکتے نہ رہیں جو اب منسوخ ہے۔

But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.

توبھی وہ ذہنی طور پر اَڑ گئے، کیونکہ آج تک جب پرانے عہدنامے کی تلاوت کی جاتی ہے تو یہی نقاب قائم ہے۔ آج تک نقاب کو ہٹایا نہیں گیا کیونکہ یہ عہد صرف مسیح میں منسوخ ہوتا ہے۔

But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

ہاں، آج تک جب موسیٰ کی شریعت پڑھی جاتی ہے تو یہ نقاب اُن کے دلوں پر پڑا رہتا ہے۔

Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

لیکن جب بھی کوئی خداوند کی طرف رجوع کرتا ہے تو یہ نقاب ہٹایا جاتا ہے،

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

کیونکہ خداوند روح ہے اور جہاں خداوند کا روح ہے وہاں آزادی ہے۔

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

چنانچہ ہم سب جن کے چہروں سے نقاب ہٹایا گیا ہے خداوند کا جلال منعکس کرتے اور قدم بہ قدم جلال پاتے ہوئے مسیح کی صورت میں بدلتے جاتے ہیں۔ یہ خداوند ہی کا کام ہے جو روح ہے۔
