Romans 6

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Che direm dunque? Rimarremo noi nel peccato onde la grazia abbondi?

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Così non sia. Noi che siam morti al peccato, come vivremmo ancora in esso?

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

O ignorate voi che quanti siamo stati battezzati in Cristo Gesù, siamo stati battezzati nella sua morte?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Noi siam dunque stati con lui seppelliti mediante il battesimo nella sua morte, affinché, come Cristo è risuscitato dai morti mediante la gloria del Padre, così anche noi camminassimo in novità di vita.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Perché, se siamo divenuti una stessa cosa con lui per una morte somigliante alla sua, lo saremo anche per una risurrezione simile alla sua, sapendo questo:

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

che il nostro vecchio uomo è stato crocifisso con lui, affinché il corpo del peccato fosse annullato, onde noi non serviamo più al peccato;

For he that is dead is freed from sin.

poiché colui che è morto, è affrancato dal peccato.

Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Ora, se siamo morti con Cristo, noi crediamo che altresì vivremo con lui,

Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

sapendo che Cristo, essendo risuscitato dai morti, non muore più; la morte non lo signoreggia più.

For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Poiché il suo morire fu un morire al peccato, una volta per sempre; ma il suo vivere è un vivere a Dio.

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Così anche voi fate conto d’esser morti al peccato, ma viventi a Dio, in Cristo Gesù.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Non regni dunque il peccato nel vostro corpo mortale per ubbidirgli nelle sue concupiscenze;

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

e non prestate le vostre membra come strumenti d’iniquità al peccato; ma presentate voi stessi a Dio come di morti fatti viventi, e le vostre membra come strumenti di giustizia a Dio;

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

perché il peccato non vi signoreggerà, poiché non siete sotto la legge, ma sotto la grazia.

What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Che dunque? Peccheremo noi perché non siamo sotto la legge ma sotto la grazia? Così non sia.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Non sapete voi che se vi date a uno come servi per ubbidirgli, siete servi di colui a cui ubbidite: o del peccato che mena alla morte o dell’ubbidienza che mena alla giustizia?

But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Ma sia ringraziato Iddio che eravate bensì servi del peccato, ma avete di cuore ubbidito a quel tenore d’insegnamento che v’è stato trasmesso;

Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

ed essendo stati affrancati dal peccato, siete divenuti servi della giustizia.

I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Io parlo alla maniera degli uomini, per la debolezza della vostra carne; poiché, come già prestaste le vostre membra a servizio della impurità e della iniquità per commettere l’iniquità, così prestate ora le vostre membra a servizio della giustizia per la vostra santificazione.

For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

Poiché, quando eravate servi del peccato, eravate liberi riguardo alla giustizia.

What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

Qual frutto dunque avevate allora delle cose delle quali oggi vi vergognate? poiché la fine loro è la morte.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Ma ora, essendo stati affrancati dal peccato e fatti servi a Dio, voi avete per frutto la vostra santificazione, e per fine la vita eterna:

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

poiché il salario del peccato è la morte; ma il dono di Dio è la vita eterna in Cristo Gesù, nostro Signore.
