Isaiah 43

But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

ای اسرائیل، خداوندی که تو را آفریده است، می‌گوید: «نترس، من تو را نجات خواهم داد. من تو را به اسم خواندم و تو به من تعلّق داری.

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

وقتی تو از آبهای عمیق می‌گذری، من با تو خواهم بود. مشکلات بر تو چیره نخواهند شد. وقتی از میان آتش رد شوی، نمی‌سوزی، و سختی‌ها به تو صدمه‌ای نخواهند زد.

For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

چون من، خداوند، خدای تو ‌قدّوس اسرائیل هستم که تو را نجات می‌دهم. برای آزادی تو مصر را فدا می‌کنم؛ و برای نجات جان تو سبا و حبشه

Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

و تمام ملّتها را فدا خواهم کرد. زیرا تو برایم عزیز هستی و چون تو را دوست دارم و به تو افتخار می‌کنم.

Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

نترس، من با تو هستم! «از سرزمینهای دوردست، هم از مشرق و از مغرب قوم تو را برمی‌‌گردانم.

I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

به شمال می‌گویم آنها را آزاد کن و به مشرق دستور می‌دهم مانع رفتن آنها نشود. بگذارید قوم من از سرزمینهای دوردست واز تمام نقاط جهان بازگردند.

Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

آنها قوم خود من هستند، من آنها را آفریدم تا باعث جلال من باشند.»

Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.

خدا می‌گوید: «قوم مرا به دادگاه احضار کنید. آنها چشم دارند، امّا نابینا هستند؛ آنها گوش دارند، ولی نمی‌شنوند.

Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.

ملّتها را برای محاکمه حاضر کنید. کدام‌یک از خدایان آنها می‌توانند آینده را پیشگویی کنند؟ کدام‌یک ‌از آنها توانستند آنچه را که اکنون واقع می‌شود، پیشگویی کنند؟ بگذارید این خدایان شاهدان خود را بیاورند و حق خود را ثابت کنند، و به صداقت گفتار آنها شهادت بدهند.

Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

«ای قوم اسرائیل، شما شاهدان من هستید. من شما را برگزیدم تا بندهٔ من باشید، تا اینکه مرا بشناسید و به من ایمان آورید، و بدانید که من تنها خدا هستم. غیراز من خدایی نیست، نبوده و نخواهد بود.

I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

«من تنها خداوند هستم و فقط من می‌توانم شما را نجات بخشم.

I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.

از پیش گفتم آنچه باید واقع شود، و بعد به داد شما رسیدم. خدایان ملّتهای بیگانه هرگز چنین نکردند، شما شاهدان من هستید.

Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

من خدا هستم و برای همیشه خواهم بود. هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند از دست من بگریزد، و هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند آنچه را من کرده‌ام، تغییر دهد.»

Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.

خدای قدّوس اسرائیل -‌خداوندی که منجی توست- می‌گوید: «برای نجات تو ارتشی را برضد بابل خواهم فرستاد، و دروازه‌های شهر را درهم خواهم شکست، و فریاد مردم آن شهر به گریه تبدیل خواهد شد.

I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.

من خداوند، خدای قدّوس تو هستم. ای اسرائیل، من تو را آفریدم و من پادشاه تو هستم.»

Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;

در سالیان گذشته، خداوند راهی از درون دریا، و طریقی از میان رودهای پرپیچ و خم گشود.

Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.

او ارتشی نیرومند -‌ارتشی مجهّز به ارّابه‌های جنگی و سواره‌نظام- را به سوی نابودی رهبری کرد. آنها سقوط کردند و هیچ‌وقت برنخاستند، و مثل شعلهٔ یک چراغ خاموش شدند.

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

خداوند می‌گوید: «به آنچه در قدیم رُخ داد، متّکی نباش و با خاطرات گذشته زندگی نکن.

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

به کارهای تازه‌ای که می‌کنم نگاه کن. آنها در حال وقوع هستند، تو می‌توانی آنها را هم اکنون ببینی! من راهی از داخل بیابان خواهم ساخت و در آنجا نهرهای آب برایت جاری خواهم کرد.

The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.

وقتی نهرهای آب را در بیابان جاری سازم و آب کافی به قوم برگزیدهٔ خودم بدهم، آنگاه حتّی حیوانات وحشی نیز حرمت مرا نگاه خواهند داشت، و شغال و شترمرغها هم مرا ستایش خواهند کرد.

This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

آنها قومی هستند که من برای خودم آفریدم، و آنها با سراییدن سرودها مرا ستایش خواهند کرد!»

But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

خداوند می‌گوید: «ای اسرائیل تو از دست من خسته شدی، و دیگر مرا پرستش نکردی.

Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.

تو قربانی‌های سوختنی از گوسفندان خود به حضور من نیاوردی، و با قربانی‌های خود احترام مرا نگاه نداشتی. من با انتظار دریافت هدایا، باری بردوش تو نبودم، و با توقع سوزاندن بُخور تو را خسته نکردم.

Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.

تو برای من بُخور نخریدی و مرا با چربی‌های حیوانات خودت راضی نکردی. در عوض تو با گناهان خودت باری بر دوش من شدی، با خطاهایی که مرتکب شده‌ای مرا خسته کردی.

I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

با وجود این، من خدایی هستم که گناهان تو را می‌بخشد، چون این ذات من است. من از گناهانت برضد تو استفاده نخواهم کرد.

Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

«بیا تا به دادگاه برویم، اتّهامات خود را بیاور! دعوی خود را ارائه کن تا ثابت کند حق با توست!

Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.

اجداد نخستین تو همه گناه کردند، رهبران تو برضد من گناه ورزیدند،

Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.

و حکام تو جایگاه مقدّس مرا بی‌حرمت ساختند. از این رو من به اسرائیل ویرانی آوردم، و اجازه دادم به قوم خودم توهین شود.»
