Psalms 94

Herra Jumala, jonka kostot ovat, Jumala, jonka kostot ovat, selkiästi itses näytä.

O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.

Korota sinuas, maailman tuomari: maksa ylpeille, mitä he ansainneet ovat.

Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.

Herra, kuinka kauvan pitää jumalattomain, kuinka kauvan pitää jumalattomain riemuitseman?

LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

Tiuskuman ja puhuman niin ylpiästi, ja kaikki pahantekiät niin kerskaaman?

How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

Herra, he polkevat alas sinun kansas, ja sinun perimistäs he vaivaavat.

They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.

Lesket ja muukalaiset he tappavat, ja orvot he kuolettavat,

They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.

Ja sanovat: ei Herra sitä näe, ja Jakobin Jumala ei sitä tottele.

Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.

Ymmärtäkäät siis, te hullut kansan seassa! ja, te tyhmät, koska te taitaviksi tulette?

Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?

Joka korvan on istuttanut, eikö hän kuule? eli joka silmän loi, eikö hän näe?

He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

Joka pakanoita kurittaa, eikö hän rankaise, joka ihmisille opettaa tiedon?

He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?

Mutta Herra tietää ihmisten ajatukset, että ne turhat ovat.

The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

Autuas on se, jota sinä, Herra, kuritat, ja opetat sinun laistas,

Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;

Että hänellä kärsivällisyys olis, koska vastoin käy, siihenasti kuin jumalattomalle hauta valmistetaan.

That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.

Sillä ei Herra heitä kansaansa pois, eli hylkää perimistänsä.

For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

Sillä oikeuden pitää sittekin oikeuden oleman, ja kaikki hurskaat sydämet sitä seuraavat.

But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

Kuka seisoo minun kanssani pahoja vastaan? kuka astuu minun tyköni pahointekiöitä vastaan?

Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

Ellei Herra minua auttaisi, niin minun sieluni makais lähes hiljaisuudessa.

Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

Minä sanoin: minun jalkani on horjunut, vaan sinun armos, Herra, minun tukesi.

When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.

Minulla oli paljo surua sydämessäni; mutta sinun lohdutukses ilahutti minun sieluni.

In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

Etpäs mielisty koskaan tosin vahingolliseen istuimeen, joka lain häijysti opettaa.

Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?

He kokoovat joukkonsa vanhurskaan sielua vastaan, ja tuomitsevat viattoman veren kadotukseen,

They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

Mutta Herra on minun varjelukseni: minun Jumalani on minun uskallukseni turva,

But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.

Ja hän kostaa heidän vääryytensä, ja hukuttaa heitä heidän pahuutensa tähden: Herra, meidän Jumalamme, hukuttaa heitä.

And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
