Psalms 17

خداوندا، التماس دادخواهی مرا بشنو. به درخواست کمک من توجّه نما و به دعای بی‌ریای من گوش فرا ده.

Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

تو از من پشتیبانی خواهی کرد، زیرا تو حقیقت را می‌دانی.

Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

تو از دل من آگاهی شب هنگام نیز نزد من آمده‌ای و مرا کاملاً آزموده‌ای، خطایی در من نیافته‌ای، سخنی به خطا نگفته‌ام.

Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

مانند دیگران به شرارت سخن نگفته‌ام، من همهٔ دستورات تو را اطاعت کرده‌ام و به راه شریران نرفته‌ام.

Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

من همیشه راههای تو را پیموده و از آن انحراف نورزیده‌ام.

Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

خدایا، من از تو کمک می‌خواهم. زیرا تو به داد من می‌رسی، پس به من گوش فرا ده و دعای مرا بشنو.

I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

ای نجات‌بخش مردمِ بی‌پناه، رحمت بی‌کران خود را بر من آشکار کن. در نزد تو از شرّ دشمنان در امان خواهم بود.

Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

مرا مانند چشمان خود محافظت کن و در سایهٔ بالهایت پناهم ده.

Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

از دست غارتگران و دشمنان جانم که مرا احاطه کرده‌اند نجاتم بده.

From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

آنها رحم ندارند و سخنان غرورآمیز می‌گویند.

They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

دور مرا گرفته‌اند و می‌خواهند مرا به زمین بزنند.

They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;

آنها مانند شیر، در پی فرصت هستند تا مرا بدرند و همچون شیر جوانی در بیشهٔ خود کمین کرده‌اند.

Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

برخیز ای خداوند، با آنها روبه‌رو شو و آنها را سرنگون نما و با شمشیر خود، جان مرا از دست مردمان شریر نجات بده.

Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

ای خداوند، مرا از دست کسانی‌که به دنیا دل بسته‌اند، نجات بده. شکم آنها را با آنچه برایشان ذخیره کرده‌ای، پُر کن و به فرزندان آنها بیش از کفایت بده تا برای نوه‌های آنها نیز باقی بماند.

From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

امّا من روی تو را خواهم دید، چون خطایی مرتکب نشده‌ام و چون برخیزم، از دیدن روی تو شادمان خواهم شد.

As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
