Numbers 16

روزی قورح پسر یصهار نوه قهات، از طايفهٔ لاوی با داتان و ابیرام پسران الیاب و اون پسر فالت، که هر سه از طایفهٔ رئوبین بودند همدست شده علیه موسی شورش کردند. در این توطئه دویست و پنجاه نفر از رهبران شناخته شده هم که از طرف مردم انتخاب شده بودند، شرکت داشتند.

Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:

روزی قورح پسر یصهار نوه قهات، از طايفهٔ لاوی با داتان و ابیرام پسران الیاب و اون پسر فالت، که هر سه از طایفهٔ رئوبین بودند همدست شده علیه موسی شورش کردند. در این توطئه دویست و پنجاه نفر از رهبران شناخته شده هم که از طرف مردم انتخاب شده بودند، شرکت داشتند.

And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:

آنها پیش موسی و هارون رفته گفتند: «شما از حد خود تجاوز کرده‌اید! همهٔ قوم اسرائیل متعلّق به خداوند می‌باشند و خداوند با همهٔ ماست. پس چرا شما خود را برتر از قوم خداوند می‌شمارید؟»

And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?

وقتی موسی سخنان آنها را شنید به خاک افتاد

And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:

و به قورح و همراهانش گفت: «فردا صبح خداوند به شما نشان می‌دهد که چه کسی به او تعلّق دارد و چه کسی مقدّس است و چه کسی را برگزیده است که به حضور او نزدیک شود.

And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.

پس ای قورح، تو و همراهانت فردا صبح با منقلهای پر از آتش بیایید و در حضور خداوند در آنها بُخور دود کنید. آن وقت معلوم می‌شود که خداوند چه کسی را انتخاب کرده است. ای پسران لاوی، این شما هستید که حدّتان را نمی‌شناسید.»

This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company;

پس ای قورح، تو و همراهانت فردا صبح با منقلهای پر از آتش بیایید و در حضور خداوند در آنها بُخور دود کنید. آن وقت معلوم می‌شود که خداوند چه کسی را انتخاب کرده است. ای پسران لاوی، این شما هستید که حدّتان را نمی‌شناسید.»

And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.

موسی به قورح و همراهانش گفت:

And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:

«ای لاویان بشنوید. آیا به نظر شما این امر کوچک است که خدای اسرائیل شما را از بین تمام قوم اسرائیل برگزید و در خیمهٔ عبادت موظّف ساخت تا به او نزدیک شوید و برای خدمت به مردم آماده باشید؟

Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?

خداوند به تو و همهٔ لاویان این افتخار را بخشید و حال می‌خواهید کاهن هم باشید.

And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?

شما با این کار، با خداوند مخالفت می‌کنید. گناه هارون چیست که شما از او شکایت می‌کنید؟»

For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him?

سپس موسی به داتان و ابیرام، پسران الیاب پیام فرستاد که بیایند، امّا آنها در جواب گفتند: «ما نمی‌آییم.

And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up:

آیا این کافی نبود که تو ما را از سرزمینی که در آن شیر و عسل جاری بود، بیرون آوردی تا در این بیابان از بین ببری و حالا می‌خواهی بر ما حکومت کنی؟

Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us?

تو هنوز ما را به سرزمین حاصلخیزی نیاورده‌ای و یا مزارع و تاکستانهایی برای ملکیّت خودمان به ما نداده‌ای. تو ما را فریب می‌دهی؟ ما نمی‌آییم.»

Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.

موسی خشمگین شد و به خداوند گفت: «قربانی‌های ایشان را قبول مکن. من حتّی یک الاغ از آنها نگرفته‌‌ام و به هیچ‌کدام آنها آسیبی نرسانده‌ام.»

And Moses was very wroth, and said unto the LORD, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them.

موسی به قورح گفت: «تو و دویست و پنجاه نفر همراهانت فردا صبح به حضور خداوند بیایید. هارون هم می‌آید.

And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the LORD, thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow:

هر کدام یک منقل بیاورید، بُخور در آن گذاشته و بر قربانگاه تقدیم کنید. هارون هم با منقل خود حاضر می‌شود.»

And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye before the LORD every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each of you his censer.

پس همگی منقلهای خود را آورده آتش روشن کردند و بُخور بر آنها گذاشتند و با موسی و هارون پیش دروازهٔ ورودی خیمهٔ عبادت ایستادند.

And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.

بعد قورح تمام قوم اسرائیل را برضد موسی و هارون تحریک نمود و همه را در برابر دروازهٔ خیمهٔ عبادت جمع کرد. ناگهان حضور پرشکوه خداوند بر تمام قوم اسرائیل ظاهر شد.

And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation.

خداوند به موسی و هارون فرمود:

And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

«از این مردم خود را جدا کنید، زیرا می‌خواهم همهٔ آنها را فوراً هلاک کنم.»

Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.

امّا موسی و هارون به خاک افتادند و گفتند: «ای خدایی‌ که سرچشمه زندگی هستی، آیا به‌خاطر گناه یک نفر بر تمام قوم خشمگین می‌شوی؟»

And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?

خداوند به موسی فرمود:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

«پس به قوم اسرائیل بگو که از چادرهای‌ قورح و داتان و ابیرام دور شوند.»

Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.

آنگاه موسی با رهبران قوم، به طرف چادر داتان و ابیرام رفتند

And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.

و به مردم گفت: «خواهش می‌کنم که از اطراف چادرهای این مردان شریر دور شوید و به مال و چیزهایی‌که متعلّق به ایشان است دست نزنید، مبادا به‌خاطر گناهان آنها شما هم هلاک شوید.»

And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.

پس آنها از اطراف چادر‌های قورح و داتان و ابیرام دور شدند. داتان و ابیرام با زنان و فرزندان خود از چادر بیرون آمده جلوی در ایستادند.

So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.

موسی گفت: «به این وسیله خواهید دانست که خداوند مرا فرستاده تا تمام این کارها را انجام بدهم و آنها را به ارادهٔ خود نکرده‌ام.

And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.

اگر این مردم به مرگ طبیعی یا در اثر تصادف و یا مریضی بمیرند، در آن صورت خداوند مرا نفرستاده است.

If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.

امّا اگر خداوند چیز تازه‌ای به عمل آورد، زمین باز شود و اینها را با همهٔ مال و دارایی‌شان در خود فرو بَرَد و زنده به گور بروند، آن وقت می‌دانید که این مردان به خدا اهانت کرده‌اند.»

But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.

به مجرّدی که سخنان موسی تمام شد، زمین زیر پای قورح و داتان و ابیرام باز شد

And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them:

و آنها را همراه با خانواده‌ها و هم‌دستان و همهٔ چیزهایی را که به آنها متعلّق بودند، در خود فروبرد.

And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.

به این ترتیب شکاف زمین بر آنها بسته شد و همگی با همهٔ دارایی خود زنده به گور شدند و از بین رفتند.

They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.

سایر مردم اسرائیل که نزدیک آنها ایستاده بودند، فریاد برآورده، فرار کردند که مبادا زمین آنها را هم ببلعد.

And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.

بعد آتشی از جانب خداوند فرود آمد و آن دویست و پنجاه نفری را که بُخور تقدیم می‌کردند، سوزاند.

And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

خداوند به موسی فرمود:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

«به العازار، پسر هارون کاهن بگو که منقلها را از بین شعله‌های آتش بیرون بیاورد، چون وقف من شده‌اند، مقدّس می‌باشند.

Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed.

او باید خاکستر منقلهای برنزی این مردان را، که به قیمت جان خود گناه کردند، دور بریزد. بعد از منقلها ورقه‌‌های نازک بسازد، آنها را برای پوشش قربانگاه به کار بَرَد. این پوشش قربانگاه برای مردم اسرائیل خاطره‌ای عبرت‌انگیز خواهد بود.»

The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.

و العازار کاهن از منقلهای برنزی برای پوشش قربانگاه ورقه ساخت،

And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar:

تا قوم اسرائیل عبرت بگیرند و هیچ‌کسی به غیراز نسل هارون، جرأت نکند که در حضور خداوند بُخور بسوزاند و به همان بلایی گرفتار شود که بر سر قورح و پیروانش آمد. به این ترتیب دستوراتی ‌که خداوند به موسی داد، همه به انجام رسید.

To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses.

ولی فردای آن روز قوم اسرائیل بار دیگر علیه موسی و هارون لب به شکایت گشودند و گفتند: «شما قوم خداوند را کشتید.»

But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the LORD.

امّا وقتی‌که مردم برضد موسی و هارون جمع شدند، ناگهان دیدند که ابر خیمهٔ عبادت را دربرگرفته و حضور پرشکوه خداوند ظاهر شد.

And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.

موسی و هارون رفتند و در برابر خیمهٔ عبادت ایستادند و خداوند به موسی فرمود:

And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.

موسی و هارون رفتند و در برابر خیمهٔ عبادت ایستادند و خداوند به موسی فرمود:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

«از این مردم دور شوید تا آنها را فوراً هلاک سازم.» امّا موسی و هارون در حضور خداوند به خاک افتادند.

Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.

موسی به هارون گفت: «منقل خود را بگیر و از آتش قربانگاه روی آن بریز و بر آن بُخور بریز و فوراً در بین مردم برو و برای ایشان کفّاره کن تا گناهانشان بخشیده شود، زیرا آتش خشم خداوند بر آنها شعله‌ور گردیده و بلا شروع شده است.»

And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.

هارون طبق دستور موسی عمل کرد و فوراً به میان مردم رفت و دید که بلا شروع شده بود، پس بُخور بر آتش نهاد و برای آنها کفّاره کرد.

And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.

او بین زندگان و مردگان ایستاد و بلا رفع شد.

And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.

علاوه بر آنانی که روز قبل با قورح هلاک شدند، چهارده هزار و هفتصد نفر دیگر نیز مردند.

Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah.

وقتی بلا متوقّف شد، هارون نزد موسی به در خیمهٔ عبادت بازگشت.

And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.
