I Kings 22

مدّت سه سال بین سوریه و اسرائیل جنگ نبود.

And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.

امّا در سال سوم یهوشافاط، پادشاه یهودا نزد اخاب، پادشاه اسرائیل آمد.

And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

پادشاه اسرائیل به افسران خود گفت: «آیا می‌دانید که راموت جلعاد از آن ماست و ما ساکت نشسته‌ایم و آن را از دست پادشاه سوریه پس نمی‌گیریم؟»

And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?

پس به یهوشافاط گفت: «آیا برای جنگ همراه من به راموت جلعاد خواهی آمد؟» یهوشافاط پاسخ داد: «من، چون تو و مردم من، چون مردم تو و سواران من، چون سواران تو هستند.»

And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth–gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

«امّا بهتر است ابتدا از خداوند راهنمایی بخواهیم.»

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

پس پادشاه اسرائیل حدود چهارصد نفر نبی را گرد آورد و از ایشان پرسید: «آیا به راموت جلعاد حمله کنیم یا نه؟» ایشان پاسخ دادند: «حمله کنید، خداوند شما را پیروز خواهد کرد.»

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramoth–gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

امّا یهوشافاط پرسید: «آیا نبی دیگری نیست که به وسیلهٔ او نظر خداوند را بدانیم؟»

And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?

اخاب پاسخ داد: «یک نفر دیگر به نام میکایا، پسر یِمله. امّا من از او بیزار هستم، زیرا او هرگز در مورد من پیشگویی خوبی نکرده است و همیشه بد می‌گوید.» یهوشافاط پاسخ داد: «نباید چنین بگویی.»

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

پس پادشاه اسرائیل به یکی از مأموران دربار خود گفت: «برو و بی‌درنگ میکایا، پسر یمله را نزد من بیاور.»

Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.

در این زمان، پادشاه اسرائیل و یهوشافاط پادشاه یهودا در خرمنگاه در خارج دروازهٔ شهر سامره بر تختهای خود نشسته و ردای شاهی برتن کرده بودند و تمام انبیا در حضور ایشان پیشگویی می‌کردند.

And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

صِدَقَیا، پسر کَنَعنَه که شاخهای آهنینی برای خود ساخته بود گفت: «خداوند چنین می‌فرماید، با این شاخها سوری‌ها را عقب خواهید راند و نابود می‌کنید.»

And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.

‌همهٔ انبیا نیز چنین پیشگویی می‌کردند و می‌گفتند: «به راموت جلعاد بروید و پیروز شوید. خداوند آن را به دست پادشاه خواهد داد.»

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth–gilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king's hand.

آن مأمور نزد میکایا رفت و به او گفت: «همهٔ انبیا پیروزی پادشاه را پیشگویی کرده‌اند، بهتر است که تو هم چنین کنی.»

And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.

امّا میکایا پاسخ داد: «به خداوند زنده سوگند که هرچه خداوند بفرماید آن را خواهم گفت.»

And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.

هنگامی‌که ‌میکایا نزد اخاب پادشاه آمد، پادشاه از او پرسید: «میکایا، آیا برای جنگ به راموت جلعاد بروم یا نه؟» او جواب داد: «برو خداوند به تو کمک می‌کند که پیروز شوی.»

So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth–gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

امّا اخاب پاسخ داد: «هنگامی‌که به نام خداوند با من سخن می‌گویی حقیقت را بگو. چند بار این را به تو بگویم؟»

And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?

میکایا پاسخ داد: «من قوم اسرائیل را دیدم که مانند گوسفندان بدون شبان در تپّه‌ها پراکنده شده‌اند و خداوند فرمود: این مردم رهبری ندارند. بگذارید هریک به سلامتی به خانهٔ خود بازگردند.»

And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

پادشاه اسرائیل به یهوشافاط گفت: «آیا به تو نگفتم که او دربارهٔ من به نیکی پیشگویی نخواهد کرد بلکه به بدی.»

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?

میکایا گفت: «پس سخنان خداوند را بشنو: من خداوند را دیدم که بر تخت خود نشسته بود و تمام فرشتگان در کنار او ایستاده بودند.

And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

خداوند پرسید: 'چه کسی اخاب را فریب خواهد داد تا او به راموت جلعاد رود و کشته شود؟' بعضی از فرشتگان گفتند چنین و دیگری گفت چنان.

And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth–gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

سرانجام روحی جلو آمد و در برابر خداوند ایستاد و گفت: 'من او را فریب خواهم داد.'

And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.

خداوند پرسید: 'چگونه؟' روح پاسخ داد: 'من بیرون می‌روم و روح دروغ در دهان همهٔ انبیای او خواهم گذاشت.' خداوند فرمود: 'برو و او را بفریب. تو موفّق خواهی شد.'»

And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

پس میكایا ادامه داده گفت: «این است آن چیزی كه واقع شده، خداوند روح دروغ را در دهان انبیای تو گذاشته تا به تو دروغ بگویند ولی او تو را به بلا دچار خواهد ساخت.»

Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

سپس صدقیا، پسر کنعنه به صورت میکایا سیلی زد و گفت: «روح خداوند چگونه مرا ترک کرد تا با تو سخن بگوید؟»

But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

میکایا پاسخ داد: «روزی که داخل پستو بروی و پنهان شوی خواهی دید.»

And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

پادشاه اسرائیل گفت: «میکایا را بازداشت کنید و نزد فرماندار شهر و یوآش، پسر پادشاه ببرید.

And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

به ایشان بگویید او را در زندان بیندازند و فقط به او آب و نان بدهند تا من به سلامت بازگردم.»

And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

میکایا گفت: «همه بشنوید و سخنان مرا به یاد داشته باشید، اگر تو بسلامت بازگردی، خداوند توسط من سخن نگفته است.»

And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.

پس اخاب و یهوشافاط، پادشاه یهودا به راموت جلعاد رفتند.

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth–gilead.

اخاب به یهوشافاط گفت: «من به صورت ناشناس وارد نبرد می‌شوم ولی تو لباس شاهانه بپوش!» و پادشاه اسرائیل با لباس مبدل وارد نبرد شد.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.

پادشاه سوریه به سی و دو افسر ارّابه‌های خود فرمان داد تا به هیچ‌کس به جز پادشاه اسرائیل حمله نکنند.

But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.

هنگامی ‌افسران ارّابه‌ها، یهوشافاط را دیدند گمان کردند که پادشاه اسرائیل است و خواستند که به او حمله کنند، امّا یهوشافاط فریاد زد.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.

هنگامی‌که افسران ارّابه‌ها دانستند که او پادشاه اسرائیل نیست، از دنبال کردن او دست برداشتند.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

سربازی سوری پیکانی اتّفاقی پرتاپ کرد و به درز زره اخاب پادشاه خورد. او به ارّابه‌ران خود گفت: «من زخمی‌ شده‌ام، بازگرد و مرا از میدان جنگ خارج کن.»

And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

‌در آن روز جنگ شدّت گرفت و پادشاه را که در ارّابه‌اش در برابر سوری‌ها برپا نگاهداشته بودند، در غروب مرد و خون زخمش در کف ارّابه جاری بود.

And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.

‌نزدیکی غروب آفتاب، به سربازان دستور داده شد که به شهر و سرزمین خود بازگردند.

And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.

‌پس پادشاه در گذشت و به سامره برده شد و ایشان پادشاه را در سامره به خاک سپردند.

So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.

آنها ارابهٔ او را در برکهٔ سامره شستند و سگها خون او را لیسیدند و روسپیان خود را در آن شستند، همان‌گونه که کلام خداوند گفته بود.

And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake.

‌همهٔ کارهای اخاب و آنچه کرد و کاخی که با عاج ساخت و همهٔ شهرهایی که ساخت در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل نوشته شده است.

Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

پس اخاب در گذشت و به اجداد خود پیوست، پس از او پسرش اخزیا پادشاه شد.

So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

یهوشافاط، پسر آسا در سال چهارم پادشاهی اخاب، پادشاه اسرائیل، پادشاه یهودا شد.

And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

یهوشافاط سی و پنج ساله بود که به سلطنت رسید و مدّت بیست و پنج سال در اورشلیم پادشاهی کرد. نام مادرش عَزُوبَه، دختر شلحی بود.

Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

او در همهٔ راههای پدرش، آسا گام برداشت و به بیراهه نرفت و آنچه را که در نظر خداوند درست بود، انجام می‌داد. امّا پرستشگاههای بالای تپّه‌ها را نابود نکرد و مردم هنوز در آنها قربانی می‌کردند و بُخور می‌سوزاندند.

And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.

یهوشافاط همچنین با پادشاه اسرائیل صلح کرد.

And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

همهٔ کارهای دیگر یهوشافاط و دلاوری او و چگونگی جنگها همه در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل نوشته شده‌ است.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

او سایر لواطیان و روسپیانی را که از زمان پدرش آسا باقی مانده بودند پاکسازی کرد.

And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.

اَدوم پادشاهی نداشت و توسط فرمانداری که پادشاه یهودا معیّن می‌کرد اداره می‌شد.

There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.

یهوشافاط ناوگان تجاری ساخت تا برای آوردن طلا از اوفیر بروند، ولی هرگز نرفتند؛ زیرا کشتی‌ها در عصبون جابر شکسته شدند.

Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion–geber.

آنگاه اخزیا، پسر اخاب به یهوشافاط گفت: «بگذار خادمان من با خادمان تو در کشتی‌ها بروند.» امّا یهوشافاط نپذیرفت.

Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.

یهوشافاط درگذشت و در گورستان سلطنتی در شهر داوود به خاک سپرده شد و پسرش یهورام جانشین او شد.

And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

اخزیا، پسر اخاب در سال هفدهم سلطنت یهوشافاط، پادشاه یهودا، در سامره به تخت نشست و دو سال سلطنت کرد.

Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.

او آنچه را در نظر خداوند پلید بود بجا آورد و در راه پدرش و در راه مادرش و در راه یربعام پسر نباط که اسرائیل را به گناه کشاند گام برداشت.

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:

او بت بعل را پرستش و خدمت کرد و مانند پدرش خشم خداوند خدای اسرائیل را برانگیخت.

For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
