И ГОСПОД говори на Мойсей в низините на Моав при Йордан, срещу Ерихон, и каза:

And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

Заповядай на израилевите синове да дадат на левитите от наследственото си притежание градове, в които да живеят; да дадете на левитите и землища за градовете им около тях.

Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.

Градовете да им бъдат за живеене, а землищата да им бъдат за добитъка им, за имота им и за всичките им животни.

And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.

Землищата около градовете, които ще дадете на левитите, да се простират хиляда лакътя извън градската стена наоколо.

And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.

Да отмерите извън града на източната страна две хиляди лакътя и на южната страна две хиляди лакътя, и на западната страна две хиляди лакътя, и на северната страна две хиляди лакътя, а градът да бъде в средата. Такива да бъдат землищата около градовете им.

And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.

И градовете, които ще дадете на левитите, да бъдат шест прибежищни града, които да определите, за да може да прибягва там убиецът; и към тях да прибавите още четиридесет и два града.

And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.

Всичките градове, които ще дадете на левитите, заедно със землищата им да бъдат четиридесет и осем града.

So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs.

А що се отнася до градовете, които ще дадете от притежанието на израилевите синове, от многото градове дайте много, а от малкото дайте малко; всяко племе да даде на левитите от градовете си според наследството, което е наследило.

And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.

И ГОСПОД говори на Мойсей и каза:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Говори на израилевите синове и им кажи: Когато минете през Йордан в ханаанската земя,

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

тогава да си определите градове, които да ви бъдат прибежищни градове, за да може да прибягва там убиецът, който убие човек по погрешка.

Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.

Те да ви бъдат градове за прибежище от отмъстителя, за да не умре убиецът, преди да се изправи пред обществото на съд.

And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.

И от градовете, които ще дадете, шест да ви бъдат прибежищни градове.

And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.

Три града да дадете отсам Йордан и три града да дадете в ханаанската земя; да бъдат прибежищни градове.

Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.

Тези шест града да бъдат прибежище за израилевите синове и за чужденеца, и за заселника помежду им, за да може да прибягва там всеки, който убие човек по погрешка.

These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.

Но ако го е ударил с железен инструмент, така че той е умрял, убиец е; убиецът непременно да се умъртви.

And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

И ако го е ударил с камък от ръката си, от който може да умре, и той е умрял, убиец е; убиецът непременно да се умъртви.

And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

Или ако го е ударил с дървено оръдие в ръката си, от което може да умре, и той е умрял, убиец е; убиецът непременно да се умъртви.

Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

Отмъстителят за кръвта сам да умъртви убиеца; когато го срещне, да го умъртви.

The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.

И ако го е блъснал от омраза или нарочно е хвърлил нещо върху него и той е умрял,

But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die;

или от омраза го е ударил с ръката си и той е умрял, този, който го е ударил, непременно да се умъртви, убиец е; отмъстителят за кръвта да умъртви убиеца, когато го срещне.

Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.

Но ако го е блъснал неочаквано, без да го е мразил, или неволно е хвърлил нещо върху него,

But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait,

или ако, без да види, е направил да падне върху него някакъв камък, от който може да умре, и той е умрял; но не му е бил враг и не е искал да му стори зло;

Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:

тогава обществото да отсъди между убиеца и отмъстителя за кръвта според тези правила;

Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:

и обществото да избави убиеца от ръката на отмъстителя за кръвта, и обществото да го върне в прибежищния му град, където е прибягнал; и той да живее в него до смъртта на първосвещеника, който е помазан със святото масло.

And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.

Но ако убиецът някога излезе вън от пределите на прибежищния си град, в който е прибягнал,

But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;

и отмъстителят за кръвта го намери вън от пределите на прибежищния му град, и отмъстителят за кръвта убие убиеца, няма да бъде виновен за кръв;

And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood:

защото убиецът трябва да стои в прибежищния си град до смъртта на първосвещеника. А след смъртта на първосвещеника убиецът може да се върне в земята на притежанието си.

Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.

Това да ви бъде правна наредба в поколенията ви, във всичките ви жилища.

So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

Всеки, който убие човек, убиецът да се умъртви по думите на свидетели. Но не може само един свидетел да свидетелства против някого, за да се умъртви.

Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.

И да не приемате никакъв откуп за живота на убиеца, който е виновен за смърт, а той непременно да се умъртви.

Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

Да не вземате откуп и за онзи, който е прибягнал в прибежищния си град, за да се върне да живее в земята си преди смъртта на свещеника.

And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

И да не осквернявате земята, в която се намирате; защото кръвта, тя осквернява земята; и за земята не може да се извърши умилостивение за кръвта, която се е проляла на нея, освен с кръвта на онзи, който я е пролял.

So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

И да не оскверняваш земята, в която живеете, сред която Аз обитавам; защото Аз, ГОСПОД, обитавам сред израилевите синове.

Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.
