Psalms 17

داؤد کی دعا۔ اے رب، انصاف کے لئے میری فریاد سن، میری آہ و زاری پر دھیان دے۔ میری دعا پر غور کر، کیونکہ وہ فریب دہ ہونٹوں سے نہیں نکلتی۔

Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

تیرے حضور میرا انصاف کیا جائے، تیری آنکھیں اُن باتوں کا مشاہدہ کریں جو سچ ہیں۔

Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

تُو نے میرے دل کو جانچ لیا، رات کو میرا معائنہ کیا ہے۔ تُو نے مجھے بھٹی میں ڈال دیا تاکہ ناپاک چیزیں دُور کرے، گو ایسی کوئی چیز نہیں ملی۔ کیونکہ مَیں نے پورا ارادہ کر لیا ہے کہ میرے منہ سے بُری بات نہیں نکلے گی۔

Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

جو کچھ بھی دوسرے کرتے ہیں مَیں نے خود تیرے منہ کے فرمان کے تابع رہ کر اپنے آپ کو ظالموں کی راہوں سے دُور رکھا ہے۔

Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

مَیں قدم بہ قدم تیری راہوں میں رہا، میرے پاؤں کبھی نہ ڈگمگائے۔

Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

اے اللہ، مَیں تجھے پکارتا ہوں، کیونکہ تُو میری سنے گا۔ کان لگا کر میری دعا کو سن۔

I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

تُو جو اپنے دہنے ہاتھ سے اُنہیں رِہائی دیتا ہے جو اپنے مخالفوں سے تجھ میں پناہ لیتے ہیں، معجزانہ طور پر اپنی شفقت کا اظہار کر۔

Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

آنکھ کی پُتلی کی طرح میری حفاظت کر، اپنے پَروں کے سائے میں مجھے چھپا لے۔

Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

اُن بےدینوں سے مجھے محفوظ رکھ جو مجھ پر تباہ کن حملے کر رہے ہیں، اُن دشمنوں سے جو مجھے گھیر کر مار ڈالنے کی کوشش کر رہے ہیں۔

From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

وہ سرکش ہو گئے ہیں، اُن کے منہ گھمنڈ کی باتیں کرتے ہیں۔

They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

جدھر بھی ہم قدم اُٹھائیں وہاں وہ بھی پہنچ جاتے ہیں۔ اب اُنہوں نے ہمیں گھیر لیا ہے، وہ گھور گھور کر ہمیں زمین پر پٹخنے کا موقع ڈھونڈ رہے ہیں۔

They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;

وہ اُس شیرببر کی مانند ہیں جو شکار کو پھاڑنے کے لئے تڑپتا ہے، اُس جوان شیر کی مانند جو تاک میں بیٹھا ہے۔

Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

اے رب، اُٹھ اور اُن کا سامنا کر، اُنہیں زمین پر پٹخ دے! اپنی تلوار سے میری جان کو بےدینوں سے بچا۔

Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

اے رب، اپنے ہاتھ سے مجھے اِن سے چھٹکارا دے۔ اُنہیں تو اِس دنیا میں اپنا حصہ مل چکا ہے۔ کیونکہ تُو نے اُن کے پیٹ کو اپنے مال سے بھر دیا، بلکہ اُن کے بیٹے بھی سیر ہو گئے ہیں اور اِتنا باقی ہے کہ وہ اپنی اولاد کے لئے بھی کافی کچھ چھوڑ جائیں گے۔

From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

لیکن مَیں خود راست باز ثابت ہو کر تیرے چہرے کا مشاہدہ کروں گا، مَیں جاگ کر تیری صورت سے سیر ہو جاؤں گا۔

As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
