I Corinthians 9

کیا مَیں آزاد نہیں؟ کیا مَیں مسیح کا رسول نہیں؟ کیا مَیں نے عیسیٰ کو نہیں دیکھا جو ہمارا خداوند ہے؟ کیا آپ خداوند میں میری محنت کا پھل نہیں ہیں؟

Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?

اگرچہ مَیں دوسروں کے نزدیک مسیح کا رسول نہیں، لیکن آپ کے نزدیک تو ضرور ہوں۔ خداوند میں آپ ہی میری رسالت پر مُہر ہیں۔

If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.

جو میری باز پُرس کرنا چاہتے ہیں اُنہیں مَیں اپنے دفاع میں کہتا ہوں،

Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,

کیا ہمیں کھانے پینے کا حق نہیں؟

Have we not power to eat and to drink?

کیا ہمیں حق نہیں کہ شادی کر کے اپنی بیوی کو ساتھ لئے پھریں؟ دوسرے رسول اور خداوند کے بھائی اور کیفا تو ایسا ہی کرتے ہیں۔

Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

کیا مجھے اور برنباس ہی کو اپنی خدمت کے اجر میں کچھ پانے کا حق نہیں؟

Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?

کون سا فوجی اپنے خرچ پر جنگ لڑتا ہے؟ کون انگور کا باغ لگا کر اُس کے پھل سے اپنا حصہ نہیں پاتا؟ یا کون ریوڑ کی گلہ بانی کر کے اُس کے دودھ سے اپنا حصہ نہیں پاتا؟

Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?

کیا مَیں یہ فقط انسانی سوچ کے تحت کہہ رہا ہوں؟ کیا شریعت بھی یہی نہیں کہتی؟

Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?

توریت میں لکھا ہے، ”جب تُو فصل گاہنے کے لئے اُس پر بَیل چلنے دیتا ہے تو اُس کا منہ باندھ کر نہ رکھنا۔“ کیا اللہ صرف بَیلوں کی فکر کرتا ہے

For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

یا وہ ہماری خاطر یہ فرماتا ہے؟ ہاں، ضرور ہماری خاطر کیونکہ ہل چلانے والا اِس اُمید پر چلاتا ہے کہ اُسے کچھ ملے گا۔ اِسی طرح گاہنے والا اِس اُمید پر گاہتا ہے کہ وہ پیداوار میں سے اپنا حصہ پائے گا۔

Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

ہم نے آپ کے لئے روحانی بیج بویا ہے۔ تو کیا یہ نامناسب ہے اگر ہم آپ سے جسمانی فصل کاٹیں؟

If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

اگر دوسروں کو آپ سے اپنا حصہ لینے کا حق ہے تو کیا ہمارا اُن سے زیادہ حق نہیں بنتا؟ لیکن ہم نے اِس حق سے فائدہ نہیں اُٹھایا۔ ہم سب کچھ برداشت کرتے ہیں تاکہ مسیح کی خوش خبری کے لئے کسی بھی طرح سے رکاوٹ کا باعث نہ بنیں۔

If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

کیا آپ نہیں جانتے کہ بیت المُقدّس میں خدمت کرنے والوں کی ضروریات بیت المُقدّس ہی سے پوری کی جاتی ہیں؟ جو قربانیاں چڑھانے کے کام میں مصروف رہتے ہیں اُنہیں قربانیوں سے ہی حصہ ملتا ہے۔

Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

اِسی طرح خداوند نے مقرر کیا ہے کہ انجیل کی خوش خبری کی منادی کرنے والوں کی ضروریات اُن سے پوری کی جائیں جو اِس خدمت سے فائدہ اُٹھاتے ہیں۔

Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

لیکن مَیں نے کسی طرح بھی اِس سے فائدہ نہیں اُٹھایا، اور نہ اِس لئے لکھا ہے کہ میرے ساتھ ایسا سلوک کیا جائے۔ نہیں، اِس سے پہلے کہ فخر کرنے کا میرا یہ حق مجھ سے چھین لیا جائے بہتر یہ ہے کہ مَیں مر جاؤں۔

But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

لیکن اللہ کی خوش خبری کی منادی کرنا میرے لئے فخر کا باعث نہیں۔ مَیں تو یہ کرنے پر مجبور ہوں۔ مجھ پر افسوس اگر اِس خوش خبری کی منادی نہ کروں۔

For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

اگر مَیں یہ اپنی مرضی سے کرتا تو پھر اجر کا میرا حق بنتا۔ لیکن ایسا نہیں ہے بلکہ خدا ہی نے مجھے یہ ذمہ داری دی ہے۔

For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.

تو پھر میرا اجر کیا ہے؟ یہ کہ مَیں انجیل کی خوش خبری مفت سناؤں اور اپنے اُس حق سے فائدہ نہ اُٹھاؤں جو مجھے اُس کی منادی کرنے سے حاصل ہے۔

What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

اگرچہ مَیں سب لوگوں سے آزاد ہوں پھر بھی مَیں نے اپنے آپ کو سب کا غلام بنا لیا تاکہ زیادہ سے زیادہ لوگوں کو جیت لوں۔

For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

مَیں یہودیوں کے درمیان یہودی کی مانند بنا تاکہ یہودیوں کو جیت لوں۔ موسوی شریعت کے تحت زندگی گزارنے والوں کے درمیان مَیں اُن کی مانند بنا تاکہ اُنہیں جیت لوں، گو مَیں شریعت کے ماتحت نہیں۔

And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

موسوی شریعت کے بغیر زندگی گزارنے والوں کے درمیان مَیں اُن ہی کی مانند بنا تاکہ اُنہیں جیت لوں۔ اِس کا مطلب یہ نہیں کہ مَیں اللہ کی شریعت کے تابع نہیں ہوں۔ حقیقت میں مَیں مسیح کی شریعت کے تحت زندگی گزارتا ہوں۔

To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

مَیں کمزوروں کے لئے کمزور بنا تاکہ اُنہیں جیت لوں۔ سب کے لئے مَیں سب کچھ بنا تاکہ ہر ممکن طریقے سے بعض کو بچا سکوں۔

To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

جو کچھ بھی کرتا ہوں اللہ کی خوش خبری کے واسطے کرتا ہوں تاکہ اِس کی برکات میں شریک ہو جاؤں۔

And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

کیا آپ نہیں جانتے کہ سٹیڈیم میں دوڑتے تو سب ہی ہیں، لیکن انعام ایک ہی شخص حاصل کرتا ہے؟ چنانچہ ایسے دوڑیں کہ آپ ہی جیتیں۔

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

کھیلوں میں شریک ہونے والا ہر شخص اپنے آپ کو سخت نظم و ضبط کا پابند رکھتا ہے۔ وہ فانی تاج پانے کے لئے ایسا کرتے ہیں، لیکن ہم غیرفانی تاج پانے کے لئے۔

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

چنانچہ مَیں ہر وقت منزلِ مقصود کو پیشِ نظر رکھتے ہوئے دوڑتا ہوں۔ اور مَیں اِسی طرح باکسنگ بھی کرتا ہوں، مَیں ہَوا میں مُکے نہیں مارتا بلکہ نشانے کو۔

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

مَیں اپنے بدن کو مارتا کوٹتا اور اِسے اپنا غلام بناتا ہوں، ایسا نہ ہو کہ دوسروں میں منادی کر کے خود نامقبول ٹھہروں۔

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
