Isaiah 8

Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Maher–shalal–hash–baz.

رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا، ”ایک بڑا تختہ لے کر اُس پر صاف الفاظ میں لکھ دے، ’جلد ہی لُوٹ کھسوٹ، سُرعت سے غارت گری‘۔“

And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.

مَیں نے اُوریاہ امام اور زکریاہ بن یبرکیاہ کی موجودگی میں ایسا ہی لکھ دیا، کیونکہ دونوں معتبر گواہ تھے۔

And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Maher–shalal–hash–baz.

اُس وقت جب مَیں اپنی بیوی نبیہ کے پاس گیا تو وہ اُمید سے ہوئی۔ بیٹا پیدا ہوا، اور رب نے مجھے حکم دیا، ”اِس کا نام ’جلد ہی لُوٹ کھسوٹ، سُرعت سے غارت گری‘ رکھ۔

For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

کیونکہ اِس سے پہلے کہ لڑکا ’ابو‘ یا ’امی‘ کہہ سکے دمشق کی دولت اور سامریہ کا مال و اسباب چھین لیا گیا ہو گا، اسور کے بادشاہ نے سب کچھ لُوٹ لیا ہو گا۔“

The LORD spake also unto me again, saying,

ایک بار پھر رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا،

Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son;

”یہ لوگ یروشلم میں آرام سے بہنے والے شِلوخ نالے کا پانی مسترد کر کے رضین اور فِقَح بن رملیاہ سے خوش ہیں۔

Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:

اِس لئے رب اُن پر دریائے فرات کا زبردست سیلاب لائے گا، اسور کا بادشاہ اپنی تمام شان و شوکت کے ساتھ اُن پر ٹوٹ پڑے گا۔ اُس کی تمام دریائی شاخیں اپنے کناروں سے نکل کر

And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

سیلاب کی صورت میں یہوداہ پر سے گزریں گی۔ اے عمانوایل، پانی پرندے کی طرح اپنے پَروں کو پھیلا کر تیرے پورے ملک کو ڈھانپ لے گا، اور لوگ گلے تک اُس میں ڈوب جائیں گے۔“

Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.

اے قومو، بےشک جنگ کے نعرے لگاؤ۔ تم پھر بھی چِکنا چُور ہو جاؤ گی۔ اے دُوردراز ممالک کے تمام باشندو، دھیان دو! بےشک جنگ کے لئے تیاریاں کرو۔ تم پھر بھی پاش پاش ہو جاؤ گے۔ کیونکہ جنگ کے لئے تیاریاں کرنے کے باوجود بھی تمہیں کچلا جائے گا۔

Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

جو بھی منصوبہ تم باندھو، بات نہیں بنے گی۔ آپس میں جو بھی فیصلہ کرو، تم ناکام ہو جاؤ گے، کیونکہ اللہ ہمارے ساتھ ہے ۔

For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,

جس وقت رب نے مجھے مضبوطی سے پکڑ لیا اُس وقت اُس نے مجھے اِس قوم کی راہوں پر چلنے سے خبردار کیا۔ اُس نے فرمایا،

Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.

”ہر بات کو سازش مت سمجھنا جو یہ قوم سازش سمجھتی ہے۔ جس سے یہ لوگ ڈرتے ہیں اُس سے نہ ڈرنا، نہ دہشت کھانا

Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

بلکہ رب الافواج سے ڈرو۔ اُسی سے دہشت کھاؤ اور اُسی کو قدوس مانو۔

And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

تب وہ اسرائیل اور یہوداہ کا مقدِس ہو گا، ایک ایسا پتھر جو ٹھوکر کا باعث بنے گا، ایک چٹان جو ٹھیس لگنے کا سبب ہو گی۔ یروشلم کے باشندے اُس کے پھندے اور جال میں اُلجھ جائیں گے۔

And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

اُن میں سے بہت سارے ٹھو کر کھائیں گے۔ وہ گر کر پاش پاش ہو جائیں گے اور پھندے میں پھنس کر پکڑے جائیں گے۔“

Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

مجھے مکاشفے کو لفافے میں ڈال کر محفوظ رکھنا ہے، اپنے شاگردوں کے درمیان ہی اللہ کی ہدایت پر مُہر لگانی ہے۔

And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

مَیں خود رب کے انتظار میں رہوں گا جس نے اپنے چہرے کو یعقوب کے گھرانے سے چھپا لیا ہے۔ اُسی سے مَیں اُمید رکھوں گا۔

Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

اب مَیں حاضر ہوں، مَیں اور وہ بچے جو اللہ نے مجھے دیئے ہیں، ہم اسرائیل میں الٰہی اور معجزانہ نشان ہیں جن سے رب الافواج جو کوہِ صیون پر سکونت کرتا ہے لوگوں کو آگاہ کر رہا ہے۔

And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

لوگ تمہیں مشورہ دیتے ہیں، ”جاؤ، مُردوں سے رابطہ کرنے والوں اور قسمت کا حال بتانے والوں سے پتا کرو، اُن سے جو باریک آوازیں نکالتے اور بڑبڑاتے ہوئے جواب دیتے ہیں۔“ لیکن اُن سے کہو، ”کیا مناسب نہیں کہ قوم اپنے خدا سے مشورہ کرے؟ ہم زندوں کی خاطر مُردوں سے بات کیوں کریں؟“

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

اللہ کی ہدایت اور مکاشفہ کی طرف رجوع کرو! جو انکار کرے اُس پر صبح کی روشنی کبھی نہیں چمکے گی۔

And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

ایسے لوگ مایوس اور فاقہ کش حالت میں ملک میں مارے مارے پھریں گے۔ اور جب بھوکوں مرنے کو ہوں گے تو جھنجھلا کر اپنے بادشاہ اور اپنے خدا پر لعنت کریں گے۔ وہ اوپر آسمان

And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.

اور نیچے زمین کی طرف دیکھیں گے، لیکن جہاں بھی نظر پڑے وہاں مصیبت، اندھیرا اور ہول ناک تاریکی ہی دکھائی دے گی۔ اُنہیں تاریکی ہی تاریکی میں ڈال دیا جائے گا۔
