Ezekiel 20

And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the LORD, and sat before me.

یہوداہ کے بادشاہ یہویاکین کی جلاوطنی کے ساتویں سال میں اسرائیلی قوم کے کچھ بزرگ میرے پاس آئے تاکہ رب سے کچھ دریافت کریں۔ پانچویں مہینے کا دسواں دن تھا۔ وہ میرے سامنے بیٹھ گئے۔

Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,

تب رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا،

Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.

”اے آدم زاد، اسرائیل کے بزرگوں کو بتا، ’رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ کیا تم مجھ سے دریافت کرنے آئے ہو؟ میری حیات کی قَسم، مَیں تمہیں کوئی جواب نہیں دوں گا! یہ رب قادرِ مطلق کا فرمان ہے۔‘

Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:

اے آدم زاد، کیا تُو اُن کی عدالت کرنے کے لئے تیار ہے؟ پھر اُن کی عدالت کر! اُنہیں اُن کے باپ دادا کی قابلِ گھن حرکتوں کا احساس دلا۔

And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;

اُنہیں بتا، ’رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ اسرائیلی قوم کو چنتے وقت مَیں نے اپنا ہاتھ اُٹھا کر اُس سے قَسم کھائی۔ ملکِ مصر میں ہی مَیں نے اپنے آپ کو اُن پر ظاہر کیا اور قَسم کھا کر کہا کہ مَیں رب تمہارا خدا ہوں۔

In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:

یہ میرا اٹل وعدہ ہے کہ مَیں تمہیں مصر سے نکال کر ایک ملک میں پہنچا دوں گا جس کا جائزہ مَیں تمہاری خاطر لے چکا ہوں۔ یہ ملک دیگر تمام ممالک سے کہیں زیادہ خوب صورت ہے، اور اِس میں دودھ اور شہد کی کثرت ہے۔

Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

اُس وقت مَیں نے اسرائیلیوں سے کہا، ”ہر ایک اپنے گھنونے بُتوں کو پھینک دے! مصر کے دیوتاؤں سے لپٹے نہ رہو، کیونکہ اُن سے تم اپنے آپ کو ناپاک کر رہے ہو۔ مَیں رب تمہارا خدا ہوں۔“

But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

لیکن وہ مجھ سے باغی ہوئے اور میری سننے کے لئے تیار نہ تھے۔ کسی نے بھی اپنے بُتوں کو نہ پھینکا بلکہ وہ اِن گھنونی چیزوں سے لپٹے رہے اور مصری دیوتاؤں کو ترک نہ کیا۔ یہ دیکھ کر مَیں وہیں مصر میں اپنا غضب اُن پر نازل کرنا چاہتا تھا۔ اُسی وقت مَیں اپنا غصہ اُن پر اُتارنا چاہتا تھا۔

But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

لیکن مَیں باز رہا، کیونکہ مَیں نہیں چاہتا تھا کہ جن اقوام کے درمیان اسرائیلی رہتے تھے اُن کے سامنے میرے نام کی بےحرمتی ہو جائے۔ کیونکہ اُن قوموں کی موجودگی میں ہی مَیں نے اپنے آپ کو اسرائیلیوں پر ظاہر کر کے وعدہ کیا تھا کہ مَیں تمہیں مصر سے نکال لاؤں گا۔

Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.

چنانچہ مَیں اُنہیں مصر سے نکال کر ریگستان میں لایا۔

And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.

وہاں مَیں نے اُنہیں اپنی ہدایات دیں، وہ احکام جن کی پیروی کرنے سے انسان جیتا رہتا ہے۔

Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.

مَیں نے اُنہیں سبت کا دن بھی عطا کیا۔ مَیں چاہتا تھا کہ آرام کا یہ دن میرے اُن کے ساتھ عہد کا نشان ہو، کہ اِس سے لوگ جان لیں کہ مَیں رب ہی اُنہیں مُقدّس بناتا ہوں۔

But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

لیکن ریگستان میں بھی اسرائیلی مجھ سے باغی ہوئے۔ اُنہوں نے میری ہدایات کے مطابق زندگی نہ گزاری بلکہ میرے احکام کو مسترد کر دیا، حالانکہ انسان اُن کی پیروی کرنے سے ہی جیتا رہتا ہے۔ اُنہوں نے سبت کی بھی بڑی بےحرمتی کی۔ یہ دیکھ کر مَیں اپنا غضب اُن پر نازل کر کے اُنہیں وہیں ریگستان میں ہلاک کرنا چاہتا تھا۔

But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.

تاہم مَیں باز رہا، کیونکہ مَیں نہیں چاہتا تھا کہ اُن اقوام کے سامنے میرے نام کی بےحرمتی ہو جائے جن کے دیکھتے دیکھتے مَیں اسرائیلیوں کو مصر سے نکال لایا تھا۔

Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;

چنانچہ مَیں نے یہ کرنے کے بجائے اپنا ہاتھ اُٹھا کر قَسم کھائی، ”مَیں تمہیں اُس ملک میں نہیں لے جاؤں گا جو مَیں نے تمہارے لئے مقرر کیا تھا، حالانکہ اُس میں دودھ اور شہد کی کثرت ہے اور وہ دیگر تمام ممالک کی نسبت کہیں زیادہ خوب صورت ہے۔

Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

کیونکہ تم نے میری ہدایات کو رد کر کے میرے احکام کے مطابق زندگی نہ گزاری بلکہ سبت کے دن کی بھی بےحرمتی کی۔ ابھی تک تمہارے دل بُتوں سے لپٹے رہتے ہیں۔“

Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.

لیکن ایک بار پھر مَیں نے اُن پر ترس کھایا۔ نہ مَیں نے اُنہیں تباہ کیا، نہ پوری قوم کو ریگستان میں مٹا دیا۔

But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:

ریگستان میں ہی مَیں نے اُن کے بیٹوں کو آگاہ کیا، ”اپنے باپ دادا کے قواعد کے مطابق زندگی مت گزارنا۔ نہ اُن کے احکام پر عمل کرو، نہ اُن کے بُتوں کی پوجا سے اپنے آپ کو ناپاک کرو۔

I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;

مَیں رب تمہارا خدا ہوں۔ میری ہدایات کے مطابق زندگی گزارو اور احتیاط سے میرے احکام پر عمل کرو۔

And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

میرے سبت کے دن آرام کر کے اُنہیں مُقدّس مانو تاکہ وہ میرے ساتھ بندھے ہوئے عہد کا نشان رہیں۔ تب تم جان لو گے کہ مَیں رب تمہارا خدا ہوں۔“

Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

لیکن یہ بچے بھی مجھ سے باغی ہوئے۔ نہ اُنہوں نے میری ہدایات کے مطابق زندگی گزاری، نہ احتیاط سے میرے احکام پر عمل کیا، حالانکہ انسان اُن کی پیروی کرنے سے ہی جیتا رہتا ہے۔ اُنہوں نے میرے سبت کے دنوں کی بھی بےحرمتی کی۔ یہ دیکھ کر مَیں اپنا غصہ اُن پر نازل کر کے اُنہیں وہیں ریگستان میں تباہ کرنا چاہتا تھا۔

Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

لیکن ایک بار پھر مَیں اپنے ہاتھ کو روک کر باز رہا، کیونکہ مَیں نہیں چاہتا تھا کہ اُن اقوام کے سامنے میرے نام کی بےحرمتی ہو جائے جن کے دیکھتے دیکھتے مَیں اسرائیلیوں کو مصر سے نکال لایا تھا۔

I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;

چنانچہ مَیں نے یہ کرنے کے بجائے اپنا ہاتھ اُٹھا کر قَسم کھائی، ”مَیں تمہیں دیگر اقوام و ممالک میں منتشر کروں گا،

Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols.

کیونکہ تم نے میرے احکام کی پیروی نہیں کی بلکہ میری ہدایات کو رد کر دیا۔ گو مَیں نے سبت کا دن ماننے کا حکم دیا تھا توبھی تم نے آرام کے اِس دن کی بےحرمتی کی۔ اور یہ بھی کافی نہیں تھا بلکہ تم اپنے باپ دادا کے بُتوں کے بھی پیچھے لگے رہے۔“

Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

تب مَیں نے اُنہیں ایسے احکام دیئے جو اچھے نہیں تھے، ایسی ہدایات جو انسان کو جینے نہیں دیتیں۔

And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.

نیز، مَیں نے ہونے دیا کہ وہ اپنے پہلوٹھوں کو قربان کر کے اپنے آپ کو ناپاک کریں۔ مقصد یہ تھا کہ اُن کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو جائیں اور وہ جان لیں کہ مَیں ہی رب ہوں۔‘

Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.

چنانچہ اے آدم زاد، اسرائیلی قوم کو بتا، ’رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ تمہارے باپ دادا نے اِس میں بھی میری تکفیر کی کہ وہ مجھ سے بےوفا ہوئے۔

For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings.

مَیں نے تو اُن سے ملکِ اسرائیل دینے کی قَسم کھا کر وعدہ کیا تھا۔ لیکن جوں ہی مَیں اُنہیں اُس میں لایا تو جہاں بھی کوئی اونچی جگہ یا سایہ دار درخت نظر آیا وہاں وہ اپنے جانوروں کو ذبح کرنے، طیش دلانے والی قربانیاں چڑھانے، خوشبودار بخور جلانے اور مَے کی نذریں پیش کرنے لگے۔

Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day.

مَیں نے اُن کا سامنا کر کے کہا، ”یہ کس طرح کی اونچی جگہیں ہیں جہاں تم جاتے ہو؟“ آج تک یہ قربان گاہیں اونچی جگہیں کہلاتی ہیں۔‘

Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations?

اے آدم زاد، اسرائیلی قوم کو بتا، ’رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ کیا تم اپنے باپ دادا کی حرکتیں اپنا کر اپنے آپ کو ناپاک کرنا چاہتے ہو؟ کیا تم بھی اُن کے گھنونے بُتوں کے پیچھے لگ کر زنا کرنا چاہتے ہو؟

For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.

کیونکہ اپنے نذرانے پیش کرنے اور اپنے بچوں کو قربان کرنے سے تم اپنے آپ کو اپنے بُتوں سے آلودہ کرتے ہو۔ اے اسرائیلی قوم، آج تک یہی تمہارا رویہ ہے! تو پھر مَیں کیا کروں؟ کیا مجھے تمہیں جواب دینا چاہئے جب تم مجھ سے کچھ دریافت کرنے کے لئے آتے ہو؟ ہرگز نہیں! میری حیات کی قَسم، مَیں تمہیں جواب میں کچھ نہیں بتاؤں گا۔ یہ رب قادرِ مطلق کا فرمان ہے۔

And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

تم کہتے ہو، ”ہم دیگر قوموں کی مانند ہونا چاہتے، دنیا کے دوسرے ممالک کی طرح لکڑی اور پتھر کی چیزوں کی عبادت کرنا چاہتے ہیں۔“ گو یہ خیال تمہارے ذہنوں میں اُبھر آیا ہے، لیکن ایسا کبھی نہیں ہو گا۔

As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:

رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ میری حیات کی قَسم، مَیں بڑے غصے اور زوردار طریقے سے اپنی قدرت کا اظہار کر کے تم پر حکومت کروں گا۔

And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.

مَیں بڑے غصے اور زوردار طریقے سے اپنی قدرت کا اظہار کر کے تمہیں اُن قوموں اور ممالک سے نکال کر جمع کروں گا جہاں تم منتشر ہو گئے ہو۔

And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.

تب مَیں تمہیں اقوام کے ریگستان میں لا کر تمہارے رُوبرُو تمہاری عدالت کروں گا۔

Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD.

جس طرح مَیں نے تمہارے باپ دادا کی عدالت مصر کے ریگستان میں کی اُسی طرح تمہاری بھی عدالت کروں گا۔ یہ رب قادرِ مطلق کا فرمان ہے۔

And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

جس طرح گلہ بان بھیڑبکریوں کو اپنی لاٹھی کے نیچے سے گزرنے دیتا ہے تاکہ اُنہیں گن لے اُسی طرح مَیں تمہیں اپنی لاٹھی کے نیچے سے گزرنے دوں گا اور تمہیں عہد کے بندھن میں شریک کروں گا۔

And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

جو بےوفا ہو کر مجھ سے باغی ہو گئے ہیں اُنہیں مَیں تم سے دُور کر دوں گا تاکہ تم پاک ہو جاؤ۔ اگرچہ مَیں اُنہیں بھی اُن دیگر ممالک سے نکال لاؤں گا جن میں وہ رہ رہے ہیں توبھی وہ ملکِ اسرائیل میں داخل نہیں ہوں گے۔ تب تم جان لو گے کہ مَیں ہی رب ہوں۔

As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.

اے اسرائیلی قوم، تمہارے بارے میں رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ جاؤ، ہر ایک اپنے بُتوں کی عبادت کرتا جائے! لیکن ایک وقت آئے گا جب تم ضرور میری سنو گے، جب تم اپنی قربانیوں اور بُتوں کی پوجا سے میرے مُقدّس نام کی بےحرمتی نہیں کرو گے۔

For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.

کیونکہ رب فرماتا ہے کہ آئندہ پوری اسرائیلی قوم میرے مُقدّس پہاڑ یعنی اسرائیل کے بلند پہاڑ صیون پر میری خدمت کرے گی۔ وہاں مَیں خوشی سے اُنہیں قبول کروں گا، اور وہاں مَیں تمہاری قربانیاں، تمہارے پہلے پھل اور تمہارے تمام مُقدّس ہدیئے طلب کروں گا۔

I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.

میرے تمہیں اُن اقوام اور ممالک سے نکال کر جمع کرنے کے بعد جن میں تم منتشر ہو گئے ہو تم اسرائیل میں مجھے قربانیاں پیش کرو گے، اور مَیں اُن کی خوشبو سونگھ کر خوشی سے تمہیں قبول کروں گا۔ یوں مَیں تمہارے ذریعے دیگر اقوام پر ظاہر کروں گا کہ مَیں قدوس خدا ہوں۔

And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.

تب جب مَیں تمہیں ملکِ اسرائیل یعنی اُس ملک میں لاؤں گا جس کا وعدہ مَیں نے قَسم کھا کر تمہارے باپ دادا سے کیا تھا تو تم جان لو گے کہ مَیں ہی رب ہوں۔

And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.

وہاں تمہیں اپنا وہ چال چلن اور اپنی وہ حرکتیں یاد آئیں گی جن سے تم نے اپنے آپ کو ناپاک کر دیا تھا، اور تم اپنے تمام بُرے اعمال کے باعث اپنے آپ سے گھن کھاؤ گے۔

And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name's sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

اے اسرائیلی قوم، تم جان لو گے کہ مَیں رب ہوں جب مَیں اپنے نام کی خاطر نرمی سے تم سے پیش آؤں گا، حالانکہ تم اپنے بُرے سلوک اور تباہ کن حرکتوں کی وجہ سے سخت سزا کے لائق تھے۔ یہ رب قادرِ مطلق کا فرمان ہے‘۔“

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا،

Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field;

”اے آدم زاد، جنوب کی طرف رُخ کر کے اُس کے خلاف نبوّت کر! دشتِ نجب کے جنگل کے خلاف نبوّت کر کے

And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.

اُسے بتا، ’رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ مَیں تجھ میں ایسی آگ لگانے والا ہوں جو تیرے تمام درختوں کو بھسم کرے گی، خواہ وہ ہرے بھرے یا سوکھے ہوئے ہوں۔ اِس آگ کے بھڑکتے شعلے نہیں بجھیں گے بلکہ جنوب سے لے کر شمال تک ہر چہرے کو جُھلسا دیں گے۔

And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it: it shall not be quenched.

ہر ایک کو نظر آئے گا کہ یہ آگ میرے، رب کے ہاتھ نے لگائی ہے۔ یہ بجھے گی نہیں‘۔“

Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?

یہ سن کر مَیں بولا، ”اے قادرِ مطلق، یہ بتانے کا کیا فائدہ ہے؟ لوگ پہلے سے میرے بارے میں کہتے ہیں کہ یہ ہمیشہ ناقابلِ سمجھ تمثیلیں پیش کرتا ہے۔“
