II Chronicles 9

And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

سلیمان کی شہرت سبا کی ملکہ تک پہنچ گئی۔ جب اُس نے اُس کے بارے میں سنا تو وہ سلیمان سے ملنے کے لئے روانہ ہوئی تاکہ اُسے مشکل پہیلیاں پیش کر کے اُس کی دانش مندی جانچ لے۔ وہ نہایت بڑے قافلے کے ساتھ یروشلم پہنچی جس کے اونٹ بلسان، کثرت کے سونے اور قیمتی جواہر سے لدے ہوئے تھے۔ ملکہ کی سلیمان سے ملاقات ہوئی تو اُس نے اُس سے وہ تمام مشکل سوالات پوچھے جو اُس کے ذہن میں تھے۔

And Solomon told her all her questions: and there was nothing hid from Solomon which he told her not.

سلیمان اُس کے ہر سوال کا جواب دے سکا۔ کوئی بھی بات اِتنی پیچیدہ نہیں تھی کہ وہ اُس کا مطلب ملکہ کو بتا نہ سکتا۔

And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,

سبا کی ملکہ سلیمان کی حکمت اور اُس کے نئے محل سے بہت متاثر ہوئی۔

And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.

اُس نے بادشاہ کی میزوں پر کے مختلف کھانے دیکھے اور یہ کہ اُس کے افسر کس ترتیب سے اُس پر بٹھائے جاتے تھے۔ اُس نے بیروں کی خدمت، اُن کی شاندار وردیوں اور ساقیوں کی شاندار وردیوں پر بھی غور کیا۔ جب اُس نے اِن باتوں کے علاوہ بھسم ہونے والی وہ قربانیاں بھی دیکھیں جو سلیمان رب کے گھر میں چڑھاتا تھا تو ملکہ ہکا بکا رہ گئی۔

And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom:

وہ بول اُٹھی، ”واقعی، جو کچھ مَیں نے اپنے ملک میں آپ کے شاہکاروں اور حکمت کے بارے میں سنا تھا وہ درست ہے۔

Howbeit I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard.

جب تک مَیں نے خود آ کر یہ سب کچھ اپنی آنکھوں سے نہ دیکھا مجھے یقین نہیں آتا تھا۔ لیکن حقیقت میں مجھے آپ کی زبردست حکمت کے بارے میں آدھا بھی نہیں بتایا گیا تھا۔ وہ اُن رپورٹوں سے کہیں زیادہ ہے جو مجھ تک پہنچی تھیں۔

Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.

آپ کے لوگ کتنے مبارک ہیں! آپ کے افسر کتنے مبارک ہیں جو مسلسل آپ کے سامنے کھڑے رہتے اور آپ کی دانش بھری باتیں سنتے ہیں!

Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the LORD thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.

رب آپ کے خدا کی تمجید ہو جس نے آپ کو پسند کر کے اپنے تخت پر بٹھایا تاکہ رب اپنے خدا کی خاطر حکومت کریں۔ آپ کا خدا اسرائیل سے محبت رکھتا ہے، اور وہ اُسے ابد تک قائم رکھنا چاہتا ہے، اِسی لئے اُس نے آپ کو اُن کا بادشاہ بنا دیا ہے تاکہ انصاف اور راست بازی قائم رکھیں۔“

And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave king Solomon.

پھر ملکہ نے سلیمان کو تقریباً 4,000 کلو گرام سونا، بہت زیادہ بلسان اور جواہر دے دیئے۔ پہلے کبھی بھی اُتنا بلسان اسرائیل میں نہیں لایا گیا تھا جتنا اُس وقت سبا کی ملکہ لائی۔

And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, which brought gold from Ophir, brought algum trees and precious stones.

حیرام اور سلیمان کے آدمی اوفیر سے نہ صرف سونا لائے بلکہ اُنہوں نے قیمتی لکڑی اور جواہر بھی اسرائیل تک پہنچائے۔

And the king made of the algum trees terraces to the house of the LORD, and to the king's palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.

جتنی قیمتی لکڑی اُن دنوں میں یہوداہ میں درآمد ہوئی اُتنی پہلے کبھی وہاں لائی نہیں گئی تھی۔ اِس لکڑی سے بادشاہ نے رب کے گھر اور اپنے محل کے لئے سیڑھیاں بنوائیں۔ یہ موسیقاروں کے سرود اور ستار بنانے کے لئے بھی استعمال ہوئی۔

And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which she had brought unto the king. So she turned, and went away to her own land, she and her servants.

سلیمان بادشاہ نے اپنی طرف سے سبا کی ملکہ کو بہت سے تحفے دیئے۔ یہ اُن چیزوں سے زیادہ تھے جو ملکہ اپنے ملک سے اُس کے پاس لائی تھی۔ جو بھی ملکہ چاہتی تھی یا اُس نے مانگا وہ اُسے دیا گیا۔ پھر وہ اپنے نوکر چاکروں اور افسروں کے ہمراہ اپنے وطن واپس چلی گئی۔

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold;

جو سونا سلیمان کو سالانہ ملتا تھا اُس کا وزن تقریباً 23,000 کلو گرام تھا۔

Beside that which chapmen and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.

اِس میں وہ ٹیکس شامل نہیں تھے جو اُسے سوداگروں، تاجروں، عرب بادشاہوں اور ضلعوں کے افسروں سے ملتے تھے۔ یہ اُسے سونا اور چاندی دیتے تھے۔

And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of beaten gold went to one target.

سلیمان بادشاہ نے 200 بڑی اور 300 چھوٹی ڈھالیں بنوائیں۔ اُن پر سونا منڈھا گیا۔ ہر بڑی ڈھال کے لئے تقریباً 7 کلو گرام سونا استعمال ہوا اور ہر چھوٹی ڈھال کے لئے ساڑھے 3 کلو گرام۔ سلیمان نے اُنہیں ’لبنان کا جنگل‘ نامی محل میں محفوظ رکھا۔

And three hundred shields made he of beaten gold: three hundred shekels of gold went to one shield. And the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

سلیمان بادشاہ نے 200 بڑی اور 300 چھوٹی ڈھالیں بنوائیں۔ اُن پر سونا منڈھا گیا۔ ہر بڑی ڈھال کے لئے تقریباً 7 کلو گرام سونا استعمال ہوا اور ہر چھوٹی ڈھال کے لئے ساڑھے 3 کلو گرام۔ سلیمان نے اُنہیں ’لبنان کا جنگل‘ نامی محل میں محفوظ رکھا۔

Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.

اِن کے علاوہ بادشاہ نے ہاتھی دانت سے آراستہ ایک بڑا تخت بنوایا جس پر خالص سونا چڑھایا گیا۔

And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays:

اُس کے ہر بازو کے ساتھ شیرببر کا مجسمہ تھا۔ تخت کچھ اونچا تھا، اور بادشاہ چھ پائے والی سیڑھی پر چڑھ کر اُس پر بیٹھتا تھا۔ دائیں اور بائیں طرف ہر پائے پر شیرببر کا مجسمہ تھا۔ پاؤں کے لئے سونے کی چوکی بنائی گئی تھی۔ اِس قسم کا تخت کسی اَور سلطنت میں نہیں پایا جاتا تھا۔

And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom.

اُس کے ہر بازو کے ساتھ شیرببر کا مجسمہ تھا۔ تخت کچھ اونچا تھا، اور بادشاہ چھ پائے والی سیڑھی پر چڑھ کر اُس پر بیٹھتا تھا۔ دائیں اور بائیں طرف ہر پائے پر شیرببر کا مجسمہ تھا۔ پاؤں کے لئے سونے کی چوکی بنائی گئی تھی۔ اِس قسم کا تخت کسی اَور سلطنت میں نہیں پایا جاتا تھا۔

And all the drinking vessels of king Solomon were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; it was not any thing accounted of in the days of Solomon.

سلیمان کے تمام پیالے سونے کے تھے، بلکہ ’لبنان کا جنگل‘ نامی محل میں تمام برتن خالص سونے کے تھے۔ کوئی بھی چیز چاندی کی نہیں تھی، کیونکہ سلیمان کے زمانے میں چاندی کی کوئی قدر نہیں تھی۔

For the king's ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram: every three years once came the ships of Tarshish bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

بادشاہ کے اپنے بحری جہاز تھے جو حیرام کے بندوں کے ساتھ مل کر مختلف جگہوں پر جاتے تھے۔ ہر تین سال کے بعد وہ سونے چاندی، ہاتھی دانت، بندروں اور موروں سے لدے ہوئے واپس آتے تھے۔

And king Solomon passed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

سلیمان کی دولت اور حکمت دنیا کے تمام بادشاہوں سے کہیں زیادہ تھی۔

And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart.

دنیا کے تمام بادشاہ اُس سے ملنے کی کوشش کرتے رہے تاکہ وہ حکمت سن لیں جو اللہ نے اُس کے دل میں ڈال دی تھی۔

And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, harness, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

سال بہ سال جو بھی سلیمان کے دربار میں آتا وہ کوئی نہ کوئی تحفہ لاتا۔ یوں اُسے سونے چاندی کے برتن، قیمتی لباس، ہتھیار، بلسان، گھوڑے اور خچر ملتے رہے۔

And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

گھوڑوں اور رتھوں کو رکھنے کے لئے سلیمان کے 4,000 تھان تھے۔ اُس کے 12,000 گھوڑے تھے۔ کچھ اُس نے رتھوں کے لئے مخصوص کئے گئے شہروں میں اور کچھ یروشلم میں اپنے پاس رکھے۔

And he reigned over all the kings from the river even unto the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.

سلیمان اُن تمام بادشاہوں کا حکمران تھا جو دریائے فرات سے لے کر فلستیوں کے ملک کی مصری سرحد تک حکومت کرتے تھے۔

And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the low plains in abundance.

بادشاہ کی سرگرمیوں کے باعث چاندی پتھر جیسی عام ہو گئی اور دیودار کی قیمتی لکڑی مغرب کے نشیبی پہاڑی علاقے کی انجیرتوت کی سستی لکڑی جیسی عام ہو گئی۔

And they brought unto Solomon horses out of Egypt, and out of all lands.

بادشاہ کے گھوڑے مصر اور دیگر کئی ملکوں سے درآمد ہوتے تھے۔

Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer against Jeroboam the son of Nebat?

سلیمان کی زندگی کے بارے میں مزید باتیں شروع سے لے کر آخر تک ’ناتن نبی کی تاریخ،‘ سَیلا کے رہنے والے نبی اخیاہ کی کتاب ’اخیاہ کی نبوّت‘ اور یرُبعام بن نباط سے متعلق کتاب ’عِدّو غیب بین کی رویائیں‘ میں درج ہیں۔

And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

سلیمان 40 سال کے دوران پورے اسرائیل پر حکومت کرتا رہا۔ اُس کا دار الحکومت یروشلم تھا۔

And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

جب وہ مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا تو اُسے یروشلم کے اُس حصے میں دفن کیا گیا جو ’داؤد کا شہر‘ کہلاتا ہے۔ پھر اُس کا بیٹا رحبعام تخت نشین ہوا۔
