II Chronicles 8

And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the house of the LORD, and his own house,

رب کے گھر اور شاہی محل کو تعمیر کرنے میں 20 سال صَرف ہوئے تھے۔

That the cities which Huram had restored to Solomon, Solomon built them, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there.

اِس کے بعد سلیمان نے وہ آبادیاں نئے سرے سے تعمیر کیں جو حیرام نے اُسے دے دی تھیں۔ اِن میں اُس نے اسرائیلیوں کو بسا دیا۔

And Solomon went to Hamath–zobah, and prevailed against it.

ایک فوجی مہم کے دوران اُس نے حمات ضوباہ پر حملہ کر کے اُس پر قبضہ کر لیا۔

And he built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the store cities, which he built in Hamath.

اِس کے علاوہ اُس نے حمات کے علاقے میں گودام کے شہر بنائے۔ ریگستان کے شہر تدمور میں اُس نے بہت سا تعمیری کام کرایا

Also he built Beth–horon the upper, and Beth–horon the nether, fenced cities, with walls, gates, and bars;

اور اِسی طرح بالائی اور نشیبی بیت حَورون اور بعلات میں بھی۔ اِن شہروں کے لئے اُس نے فصیل اور کنڈے والے دروازے بنوائے۔ سلیمان نے اپنے گوداموں کے لئے اور اپنے رتھوں اور گھوڑوں کو رکھنے کے لئے بھی شہر بنوائے۔ جو کچھ بھی وہ یروشلم، لبنان یا اپنی سلطنت کی کسی اَور جگہ بنوانا چاہتا تھا وہ اُس نے بنوایا۔

And Baalath, and all the store cities that Solomon had, and all the chariot cities, and the cities of the horsemen, and all that Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and throughout all the land of his dominion.

اور اِسی طرح بالائی اور نشیبی بیت حَورون اور بعلات میں بھی۔ اِن شہروں کے لئے اُس نے فصیل اور کنڈے والے دروازے بنوائے۔ سلیمان نے اپنے گوداموں کے لئے اور اپنے رتھوں اور گھوڑوں کو رکھنے کے لئے بھی شہر بنوائے۔ جو کچھ بھی وہ یروشلم، لبنان یا اپنی سلطنت کی کسی اَور جگہ بنوانا چاہتا تھا وہ اُس نے بنوایا۔

As for all the people that were left of the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which were not of Israel,

جن آدمیوں کی سلیمان نے بیگار پر بھرتی کی وہ اسرائیلی نہیں تھے بلکہ حِتّی، اموری، فرِزّی، حِوّی اور یبوسی یعنی کنعان کے پہلے باشندوں کی وہ اولاد تھے جو باقی رہ گئے تھے۔ ملک پر قبضہ کرتے وقت اسرائیلی اِن قوموں کو پورے طور پر مٹا نہ سکے، اور آج تک اِن کی اولاد کو اسرائیل کے لئے بےگار میں کام کرنا پڑتا ہے۔

But of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, them did Solomon make to pay tribute until this day.

جن آدمیوں کی سلیمان نے بیگار پر بھرتی کی وہ اسرائیلی نہیں تھے بلکہ حِتّی، اموری، فرِزّی، حِوّی اور یبوسی یعنی کنعان کے پہلے باشندوں کی وہ اولاد تھے جو باقی رہ گئے تھے۔ ملک پر قبضہ کرتے وقت اسرائیلی اِن قوموں کو پورے طور پر مٹا نہ سکے، اور آج تک اِن کی اولاد کو اسرائیل کے لئے بےگار میں کام کرنا پڑتا ہے۔

But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and captains of his chariots and horsemen.

لیکن سلیمان نے اسرائیلیوں کو ایسے کام کرنے پر مجبور نہ کیا بلکہ وہ اُس کے فوجی اور رتھوں کے فوجیوں کے افسر بن گئے، اور اُنہیں رتھوں اور گھوڑوں پر مقرر کیا گیا۔

And these were the chief of king Solomon's officers, even two hundred and fifty, that bare rule over the people.

سلیمان کے تعمیری کام پر بھی 250 اسرائیلی مقرر تھے جو ضلعوں پر مقرر افسروں کے تابع تھے۔ یہ لوگ تعمیری کام کرنے والوں کی نگرانی کرتے تھے۔

And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the LORD hath come.

فرعون کی بیٹی یروشلم کے پرانے حصے بنام ’داؤد کا شہر‘ سے اُس محل میں منتقل ہوئی جو سلیمان نے اُس کے لئے تعمیر کیا تھا، کیونکہ سلیمان نے کہا، ”لازم ہے کہ میری اہلیہ اسرائیل کے بادشاہ داؤد کے محل میں نہ رہے۔ چونکہ رب کا صندوق یہاں سے گزرا ہے، اِس لئے یہ جگہ مُقدّس ہے۔“

Then Solomon offered burnt offerings unto the LORD on the altar of the LORD, which he had built before the porch,

اُس وقت سے سلیمان رب کو رب کے گھر کے بڑے ہال کے سامنے کی قربان گاہ پر بھسم ہونے والی قربانیاں پیش کرتا تھا۔

Even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.

جو کچھ بھی موسیٰ نے روزانہ کی قربانیوں کے متعلق فرمایا تھا اُس کے مطابق بادشاہ قربانیاں چڑھاتا تھا۔ اِن میں وہ قربانیاں بھی شامل تھیں جو سبت کے دن، نئے چاند کی عید پر اور سال کی تین بڑی عیدوں پر یعنی فسح کی عید، ہفتوں کی عید اور جھونپڑیوں کی عید پر پیش کی جاتی تھیں۔

And he appointed, according to the order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required: the porters also by their courses at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.

سلیمان نے اماموں کے مختلف گروہوں کو وہ ذمہ داریاں سونپیں جو اُس کے باپ داؤد نے مقرر کی تھیں۔ لاویوں کی ذمہ داریاں بھی مقرر کی گئیں۔ اُن کی ایک ذمہ داری رب کی حمد و ثنا کرنے میں پرستاروں کی راہنمائی کرنی تھی۔ نیز، اُنہیں روزانہ کی ضروریات کے مطابق اماموں کی مدد کرنی تھی۔ رب کے گھر کے دروازوں کی پہرہ داری بھی لاویوں کی ایک خدمت تھی۔ ہر دروازے پر ایک الگ گروہ کی ڈیوٹی لگائی گئی۔ یہ بھی مردِ خدا داؤد کی ہدایات کے مطابق ہوا۔

And they departed not from the commandment of the king unto the priests and Levites concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.

جو بھی حکم داؤد نے اماموں، لاویوں اور خزانوں کے متعلق دیا تھا وہ اُنہوں نے پورا کیا۔

Now all the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of the LORD, and until it was finished. So the house of the LORD was perfected.

یوں سلیمان کے تمام منصوبے رب کے گھر کی بنیاد رکھنے سے لے کر اُس کی تکمیل تک پورے ہوئے۔

Then went Solomon to Ezion–geber, and to Eloth, at the sea side in the land of Edom.

بعد میں سلیمان عصیون جابر اور ایلات گیا۔ یہ شہر ادوم کے ساحل پر واقع تھے۔

And Huram sent him by the hands of his servants ships, and servants that had knowledge of the sea; and they went with the servants of Solomon to Ophir, and took thence four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought them to king Solomon.

وہاں حیرام بادشاہ نے اپنے جہاز اور تجربہ کار ملاح بھیجے تاکہ وہ سلیمان کے آدمیوں کے ساتھ مل کر جہازوں کو چلائیں۔ اُنہوں نے اوفیر تک سفر کیا اور وہاں سے سلیمان کے لئے تقریباً 15,000 کلو گرام سونا لے کر آئے۔
