Psalms 140

Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;

Для дириґетна хору. Псалом Давидів.

Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.

Визволь мене від людини лихої, о Господи, бережи мене від насильника,

They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.

що в серці своїм замишляють злі речі, що війни щодня викликають!

Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.

Вони гострять свого язика, як той вуж, отрута гадюча під їхніми устами! Села.

The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

Пильнуй мене, Господи, від рук нечестивого, бережи мене від насильника, що задумали стопи мої захитати...

I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.

Чванливі сховали на мене тенета та шнури, розтягли свою сітку при стежці, сільця розмістили на мене! Села.

O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

Я сказав Господеві: Ти Бог мій, почуй же, о Господи, голос благання мого!

Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.

Господи, Владико мій, сило мого спасіння, що в день бою покрив мою голову,

As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

не виконай, Господи, бажань безбожного, не здійсни його задуму! Села.

Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.

Бодай голови не піднесли всі ті, хто мене оточив, бодай зло їхніх уст їх покрило!

Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

Хай присок на них упаде, нехай кине Він їх до огню, до провалля, щоб не встали вони!...

I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.

Злоязична людина щоб міцною вона не була на землі, людина насильства бодай лихо спіймало її, щоб попхнути на погибіль!

Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

Я знаю, що зробить Господь правосуддя убогому, присуд правдивий для бідних, тільки праведні дякувати будуть іменню Твоєму, невинні сидітимуть перед обличчям Твоїм!
