Job 18

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

تا به کی می‌خواهی به این حرفها ادامه دهی؟ لحظه‌ای خاموش باش و به ما گوش بده تا بتوانیم درست با هم صحبت کنیم.

How long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak.

Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?

آیا تو فکر می‌‌کنی که ما مثل حیوانات، احمق و بی‌شعور هستیم؟

He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?

تو با خشمت به خودت صدمه می‌رسانی. انتظار داری به‌خاطر اینکه تو خشمگین هستی، زمین بلرزد و کوهها جابه‌جا شوند؟

Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.

چراغ شخص بدکار، خاموش می‌شود و شعلهٔ آتش او نوری نخواهد داشت.

The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.

نور خانهٔ مرد شریر، به تاریکی تبدیل و چراغش خاموش می‌شود.

The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.

قدمهایش سست می‌شود و او قربانی نقشه‌های خود می‌گردد.

For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.

به سوی دام گام برمی‌دارد و پایش در تله می‌افتد و رها نمی‌شود.

The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.

به سوی دام گام برمی‌دارد و پایش در تله می‌افتد و رها نمی‌شود.

The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.

در سر راه او دام و تله پنهان شده است.

Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.

ترس و وحشت از هر سو بر او هجوم می‌آورد و قدم به قدم او را تعقیب می‌کند.

His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.

قحطی و گرسنگی نیروی او را از بین می‌برد و مصیبت در سر راهش کمین می‌کند.

It shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.

به مرض کشنده گرفتار می‌شود و در کام مرگ فرو می‌رود.

His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.

از خانه‌ای که در آن آسوده بود، جدا می‌شود و به دست جلاّد سپرده می‌شود.

It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.

مسکنش با آتش گوگرد از بین می‌رود و خانه‌اش خالی می‌شود.

His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.

ریشه و شاخه‌هایش پژمرده و خشک شده، نابود می‌گردند.

His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.

خاطره‌اش از روی زمین محو می‌شود و هیچ‌کس نام او را به یاد نمی‌آورد.

He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.

از دنیای زندگان رانده شده، به تاریکی انداخته می‌شود.

He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.

در بین قومش نسلی از او باقی نمی‌ماند.

They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.

مردم از غرب تا شرق از دیدن وضع او حیران می‌شوند و وحشت می‌کنند.

Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.

بلی، مردم گناهکار و کسانی‌که خدا را نمی‌شناسند به این مصیبتها گرفتار می‌شوند.
