Genesis 35

And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth–el, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

خدا به‌ یعقوب ‌فرمود: «برخیز و به‌ بیت‌ئیل ‌برو و در آنجا ساكن ‌شو. در آنجا قربانگاهی برای من‌ بساز، برای خدایی كه‌ وقتی از دست‌ برادرت ‌عیسو فرار می‌كردی‌، بر تو ظاهر شد.»

Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:

پس ‌یعقوب ‌به‌ خانواده ‌و تمام‌ كسانی كه‌ با او بودند، گفت‌: «تمام ‌بُتهایی را كه ‌در میان‌ شما هست ‌دور بریزید. خود را پاک ‌كنید و لباس ‌نو بپوشید.

And let us arise, and go up to Beth–el; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.

ما از اینجا به‌ بیت‌ئیل‌ كوچ‌ می‌كنیم‌. من ‌در آنجا برای خدایی كه‌ هرجا رفتم‌ با من‌ بود و در روز تنگی مرا كمک ‌فرمود، قربانگاهی بنا خواهم ‌كرد.»

And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.

پس‌ آنها تمام‌ بُتهای را كه‌ داشتند، همچنین ‌تمام‌ گوشواره‌هایی را كه‌ در گوششان‌ بود، به‌ یعقوب‌ دادند. یعقوب‌ آنها را در زیر درخت ‌بلوطی در شكیم ‌پنهان ‌كرد.

And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.

وقتی یعقوب‌ و پسرانش‌ حركت ‌كردند، ترس‌ خداوند مردم‌ شهرهای اطراف ‌را فراگرفت‌. به‌ این‌جهت‌ آنها پسران‌ یعقوب ‌را تعقیب ‌نكردند.

So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Beth–el, he and all the people that were with him.

یعقوب‌ با تمام ‌همراهانش‌ به ‌لوز در سرزمین ‌كنعان‌ كه‌ امروز بیت‌ئیل‌ نامیده ‌می‌شود آمدند.

And he built there an altar, and called the place El–beth–el: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

او در آنجا قربانگاهی بنا كرد و اسم‌ آنجا را قربانگاه‌ خدای بیت‌ئیل‌ گذاشت‌. زیرا هنگامی كه‌ او از دست ‌برادرش‌ فرار می‌كرد، خدا خودش‌ را در آنجا بر او ظاهر كرد.

But Deborah Rebekah's nurse died, and she was buried beneath Beth–el under an oak: and the name of it was called Allon–bachuth.

دبوره‌، دایه‌ ربكا مرد. او را در زیر درخت‌ بلوطی در جنوب ‌بیت‌ئیل‌ دفن‌ كردند. به‌ همین‌ جهت‌ اسم‌ آن‌ را «بلوط‌ِ گریان» گذاشتند.

And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padan–aram, and blessed him.

وقتی یعقوب ‌از بین‌النهرین‌ برگشت‌، خدا دوباره ‌بر او ظاهر شد و او را بركت‌ داد.

And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.

خدا به‌ او فرمود: «اسم ‌تو یعقوب‌ است‌، امّا بعد از این ‌اسم‌ تو اسرائیل‌ خواهد بود.»

And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;

خدا به ‌او فرمود: «من‌ خدای قادر مطلق ‌هستم‌. بارور و کثیر شو. اقوام ‌و ملل‌ از نسل‌ تو به وجود آیند و تو جدّ پادشاهان‌ خواهی شد.

And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.

من‌ سرزمینی را كه ‌به ‌ابراهیم‌ و اسحاق‌ دادم‌ به‌ تو و بعد از تو به ‌فرزندان ‌تو خواهم ‌داد.»

And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him.

سپس ‌خدا از نزد او بالا رفت‌.

And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.

یعقوب ‌در همان‌جایی كه‌ خدا با او گفت‌وگو كرد یک ‌ستون ‌سنگی برپا كرد و هدیهٔ نوشیدنی و روغن‌ زیتون‌ روی آن‌ ریخت ‌و آن را تقدیس ‌نمود.

And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Beth–el.

او اسم‌ آنجا را بیت‌ئیل‌ گذاشت‌. زیرا در آنجا خدا با او صحبت ‌كرده‌ بود.

And they journeyed from Beth–el; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.

یعقوب ‌و خانواده‌اش‌ بیت‌ئیل ‌را ترک ‌كردند. هنوز تا افراته ‌فاصلهٔ زیادی داشتند كه ‌موقع‌ وضع‌ حمل‌ راحیل‌ رسید. زاییدن‌ او بسیار مشكل ‌بود.

And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.

هنگامی كه‌ درد زایمان ‌او خیلی شدید شده ‌بود، قابله‌ به‌ او گفت‌: «نترس، این ‌هم ‌پسر است‌.»

And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Ben–oni: but his father called him Benjamin.

ولی او در حال ‌مرگ ‌بود و در همان‌ حال ‌اسم‌ پسرش‌ را بن‌اونی (یعنی پسر غصهٔ من) گذاشت‌ ولی پدرش ‌او را بنیامین‌ (یعنی پسر دست راست من) نامید.

And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Beth–lehem.

راحیل ‌مرد و او را در كنار راه ا‌فراته ‌كه‌ حالا بیت‌لحم ‌نامیده‌ می‌شود، دفن‌ كردند.

And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel's grave unto this day.

یعقوب ‌بر سر قبر او یک ‌ستون‌ سنگی بنا كرد كه‌ هنوز هم‌ آن ‌ستون ‌بر روی قبر راحیل‌ وجود دارد.

And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.

یعقوب از آنجا كوچ‌ كرد و اردوگاه خود را در طرف ‌دیگر بُرج ‌عیدر نصب‌ كرد.

And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:

وقتی یعقوب ‌در آنجا سكونت‌ داشت‌، رئوبین ‌با بلهه ‌یكی از صیغه‌های پدر خود همخواب‌ شد و یعقوب‌ این ‌موضوع ‌را فهمید. پسران ‌یعقوب ‌دوازده ‌نفر بودند.

The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:

پسران ‌لیه ‌عبارت ‌بودند از: رئوبین پسر بزرگ ‌یعقوب، شمعون‌، لاوی‌، یهودا، یساكار و زبولون‌.

The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin:

یوسف‌ و بنیامین پسران‌ راحیل ‌بودند.

And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:

دان‌ و نفتالی پسران‌ بلهه‌ كنیز راحیل ‌بودند.

And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padan–aram.

جاد و اشیر پسران ‌زلفه‌، كنیز لیه ‌بودند. این‌ پسران‌ در بین‌النهرین ‌متولّد شدند.

And Jacob came unto Isaac his father unto Mamre, unto the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.

یعقوب ‌به ‌ممری نزدیک ‌حبرون‌-جایی‌که ‌ابراهیم‌ و اسحاق ‌زندگی می‌كردند- به‌ دیدن ‌پدرش ‌اسحاق‌ رفت‌.

And the days of Isaac were an hundred and fourscore years.

اسحاق‌ صد و هشتاد سال ‌داشت‌.

And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

او در حالی كه‌ كاملاً پیر شده ‌بود، وفات ‌یافت‌. پسرانش ‌عیسو و یعقوب‌ او را دفن ‌كردند.
