Genesis 14

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations;

چهار پادشاه یعنی امرافل ‌پادشاه ‌بابل‌ (شینار)، اریوک‌ پادشاه‌ الاسار، كدرلاعمر پادشاه‌ عیلام ‌و تیدال‌ پادشاه ‌گوعیم‌،

That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

رفتند تا با پنج‌ پادشاه‌ دیگر یعنی بابرا پادشاه ‌سدوم‌، بیرشا پادشاه‌ غموره‌، شیناب ‌پادشاه ‌ادما، شمبر پادشاه‌ زبوئیم‌ و پادشاه ‌بلا یعنی صوغر جنگ ‌كنند.

All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.

این ‌پنج ‌پادشاه‌ با هم ‌متّحد شدند و در دشت‌ سدیم‌ كه‌ اکنون دریای مرده ‌نامیده ‌می‌شود به‌ هم‌ پیوستند.

Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

اینها دوازده ‌سال‌ زیر نظر كدرلاعمر بودند، امّا در سال‌ سیزدهم برضد او قیام‌ كردند.

And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

در سال‌ چهاردهم‌ كدرلاعمر و متّحدان ‌او با لشكریانشان‌ آمدند و رفائیم‌ را در اشتاروت‌كرنین‌ و زیزین‌ را در هام‌، ایمیم‌ را در دشت ‌قیریتایم‌

And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El–paran, which is by the wilderness.

و حوریان را در كوههای اَدوم تا الپاران كه ‌نزدیک‌ صحراست‌ تعقیب ‌نموده، شكست ‌دادند.

And they returned, and came to En–mishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezon–tamar.

سپس‌ برگشتند و به‌ قادش‌ كه‌ عین‌مشباط ‌می‌باشد آمدند و تمامی عمالیقیان ‌و اموریان ‌را كه‌ درّهٔ زازون‌ تامار زندگی می‌كردند، مغلوب‌ نمودند.

And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;

سپس‌ پادشاهان ‌سدوم‌، غموره‌، ادما، زبولیم ‌و بلا، لشكریان‌ خود را برای حمله‌ بیرون‌ آورده ‌و در دشت ‌میدیم‌ آمادهٔ جنگ ‌شدند

With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.

تا با پادشاهان‌ عیلام‌، گوعیم‌، بابل‌ و الاسار جنگ ‌كنند. چهار پادشاه ‌به ضد پنج‌ پادشاه‌.

And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.

آن ‌دشت‌ پُر از چاههای قیر بود و وقتی كه‌ پادشاهان ‌سدوم ‌و غموره‌ كوشش ‌می‌كردند تا از حملهٔ دشمن ‌فرار كنند در چاهها افتادند، ولی سه ‌پادشاه‌ دیگر به ‌كوهها فرار كردند.

And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.

آن‌ چهار پادشاه ‌همه ‌چیز را در سدوم ‌و غموره ‌با تمام‌ خوراكی‌ها برداشتند و رفتند.

And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

لوط‌، برادرزادهٔ اَبرام‌ در سدوم ‌زندگی می‌كرد. بنابراین‌ آنها او را با تمام ‌دارایی‌اش ‌برداشتند و بردند.

And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.

ولی یک ‌نفر كه‌ جان‌ سالم‌ بدر برده‌ بود، آمد و تمام‌ این‌ وقایع‌ را به ‌اَبرام ‌عبرانی اطّلاع ‌داد. او در نزدیكی بلوطستان ‌كه‌ متعلّق‌ به ‌ممری اموریان‌ است، ‌زندگی می‌كرد. ممری و برادرانش‌ اشكول ‌و عانر هم ‌پیمانهای اَبرام ‌بودند.

And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.

وقتی اَبرام شنید كه ‌برادرزاده‌اش ‌دستگیر شده ‌است‌، تمام ‌مردان ‌جنگی خود را كه ‌سیصد و هجده‌ نفر بودند احضار كرد و چهار پادشاه‌ را تا دان ‌تعقیب ‌نمود.

And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

سپس ‌افراد خود را گروه‌گروه‌ تقسیم كرد و هنگام‌ شب‌ به‌ دشمن ‌حمله‌ كرده‌ آنها را شكست ‌داد و آنها را تا هوباه‌ كه ‌در شمال ‌دمشق ‌است،‌ فراری داد.

And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

پس‌ هرچه‌ كه آنها غارت‌ كرده‌ و با خود برده‌ بودند، پس‌ گرفت‌. او همچنین‌ لوط ‌برادرزادهٔ خود و تمام ‌دارایی‌اش و تمام‌ زنان‌ و زندانیان ‌دیگر را بازگردانید.

And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.

وقتی اَبرام‌ پس‌ از پیروزی بر كدرلاعمر و پادشاهان ‌دیگر باز می‌گشت، پادشاه ‌سدوم‌ برای استقبال ‌او به ‌دشت ‌شاوه‌ كه‌ دشت ‌پادشاه ‌نیز گفته ‌می‌شود، رفت‌.

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

ملكی‌صدق‌ كه ‌پادشاه ‌سالیم ‌و كاهن‌ خدای متعال بود، برای اَبرام‌ نان ‌و شراب ‌آورد و

And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

برای او دعای خیر كرد و گفت‌: «خدای متعال كه ‌آسمان‌ و زمین ‌را آفرید اَبرام‌ را بركت‌ دهد.

And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

سپاس ‌بر خدای متعال كه ‌تو را بر دشمنانت ‌پیروز گردانید.» اَبرام‌ ده‌ یک ‌آنچه ‌از غنیمت باز آورده‌ بود به ‌ملكی‌صدق ‌داد.

And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.

پادشاه‌ سدوم‌ به اَبرام‌ گفت‌: «اموال ‌غنیمتی مال ‌خودت‌: ولی افرادم ‌را به ‌من ‌برگردان‌.»

And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

اَبرام‌ جواب ‌داد: «من ‌چشم ‌به ‌درگاه‌ خداوند خدای متعال دوخته‌ام‌ كه ‌آسمان‌ و زمین ‌را آفرید

That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

که ‌چیزی از اموال ‌تو حتّی یک‌ نخ‌ یا یک‌ بند كفش‌ هم‌ نگاه‌ نخواهم‌ داشت‌ تا نگویی كه ‌من ‌اَبرام‌ را ثروتمند كردم‌.

Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.

من ‌چیزی برای خودم ‌نمی‌گیرم‌ مگر آنچه ‌را كه‌ افراد من‌ تصرّف‌ كردند. ولی بگذار همراهان ‌من‌ آنیر و اشكول ‌و ممری سهم‌ خود را بردارند.»
