Acts 12

Mutta sillä ajalla otti kuningas Herodes muutamia seurakunnasta kiinni, vaivataksensa,

Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

Ja mestasi Jakobin, Johanneksen veljen miekalla.

And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

Ja kuin hän näki sen Juudalaisille kelpaavan, pyysi hän myös Pietaria käsittää, (ja se oli makian leivän päivänä.)

And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

Jonka hän myös käsitti, ja pani vankiuteen, ja antoi hänen neljän sotamiesten neljänneksen haltuun vartioida häntä, ja ajatteli pääsiäisen jälkeen asettaa hänen kansan eteen.

And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

Niin Pietari pidettiin tornissa; mutta seurakunnassa tapahtuivat rukoukset hartaasti hänen edestänsä Jumalan tykö.

Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

Ja kuin Herodes tahtoi hänen ottaa edes, makasi Pietari sinä yönä kahden sotamiehen vaiheella, sidottuna kaksilla kahleilla, ja vartiat oven edessä vartioitsivat tornia.

And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

Ja katso, Herran enkeli seisoi hänen tykönänsä ja kirkkaus paisti huoneessa, lykkäsi Pietaria kylkeen, herätti hänen ja sanoi: nouse nopiasti. Ja kahleet putosivat hänen käsistänsä.

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

Niin enkeli sanoi hänelle: sonnusta ja kengitä sinus. Ja hän teki niin. Ja hän sanoi vielä hänelle: pue itses vaatteisiis ja seuraa minua.

And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

Ja hän meni ulos ja seurasi häntä, eikä tietänyt sitä todeksi, mitä enkeliltä tehtiin, vaan luuli näyn näkevänsä.

And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

Mutta kuin he menivät ensimäisen ja toisen vartion lävitse, ja tulivat rautaiseen porttiin, joka vie kaupunkiin, niin se aukeni heille itsestänsä; ja he menivät siitä ulos, käyden katua myöten, ja kohta erkani enkeli hänestä.

When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

Ja kuin Pietari tointui entisellensä, sanoi hän: nyt minä totisesti tiedän, että Herra on enkelinsä lähettänyt, ja minun Herodeksen käsistä päästänyt ja kaikesta Juudan kansan toivosta.

And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Ja kuin hän tätä ajatellut oli, tuli hän Marian, Johanneksen äidin, huoneen tykö, joka Markukseksi kutsuttiin, jossa monta oli koossa, ja rukoilivat.

And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

Mutta kuin Pietari porstuan oveen kolkutti, tuli piika, Roode nimeltä, kuultelemaan.

And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

Ja kuin hän Pietartin äänen tunsi, ei hän ovea ilon tähden avannutkaan, vaan juoksi sisälle ja ilmoitti heille Pietarin porstuan edessä seisovan.

And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

Niin he sanoivat hänelle: oletkos hullu? Vaan hän sanoi totisesti niin olevan. Niin he sanoivat: se on hänen enkelinsä.

And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

Mutta Pietari kolkutti lakkaamatta. Kuin he avasivat, niin he näkivät hänen ja hämmästyivät.

But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

Mutta hän viittasi kädellänsä heitä vaikenemaan, ja jutteli heille, kuinka Herra oli hänen vankiudesta johdattanut ulos, ja sanoi: ilmoittakaat näitä Jakobille ja veljille. Ja läksi ulos ja meni toiseen paikkaan.

But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

Mutta kuin päivä tuli, niin ei sotamiehillä ollut vähin kapina, kuhunka Pietari tullut oli.

Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

Ja kuin Herodes piti sanan hänen perässänsä, eikä häntä löytänyt, antoi hän vartiat tutkia ja käski heitä rangaista. Ja meni Juudeasta alas Kesareaan ja viipyi siellä.

And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judæa to Cæsarea, and there abode.

Ja Herodes oli vihoissansa Tyron ja Sidonin asuvaisille; mutta he tulivat yksimielisesti hänen tykönsä ja lepyttivät kuninkaan kamaripalvelian Blastuksen, ja anoivat rauhaa; sillä heidän maakuntansa sai kuninkaan maasta elatuksensa.

And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country.

Mutta määrättynä päivänä oli Herodes puetettu kuninkaallisissa vaatteissa, istuen tuomioistuimella, ja piti puheen heidän tykönsä.

And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

Mutta kansa huusi: Jumalan ääni, ja ei ihmisen.

And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

Ja Herran enkeli löi kohta häntä, ettei hän kunniaa Jumalalle antanut. Ja hän syötiin madoilta, ja antoi henkensä.

And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

Mutta Jumalan sana kasvoi ja eneni.

But the word of God grew and multiplied.

Mutta Barnabas ja Saulus palasivat Jerusalemista, kuin he olivat palveluksen päättäneet, ja ottivat Johanneksen kanssansa, joka myös Markukseksi kutsuttiin.

And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
