Genesis 25

ابراهیم ‌با زن‌ دیگری به‌ نام‌ قطوره‌ ازدواج ‌كرد.

Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.

او زمران‌، یُقشان‌، مدان‌، مدیان‌، ایشباک‌ و شوآ را به دنیا آورد

And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

یقشان‌، پدر شبا و دِدان ‌بود. آشوریم‌، لتوشیم‌، لئومیم‌ از نسل‌ دِدان ‌بودند.

And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.

عیفا، عیفَر، حنوک، ابیداع و الداعه فرزندان‌ مدیان‌ بودند. همهٔ اینها فرزندان ‌قطوره‌ بودند.

And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

ابراهیم‌ تمام ‌دارایی خود را به ‌اسحاق‌ بخشید.

And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

ولی در زمان‌ حیات‌ خود هدایایی هم‌ به ‌پسرهایی كه ‌از زنهای دیگر خود داشت‌، داد و آنها را از پیش‌ اسحاق ‌بیرون‌ كرد و به‌ طرف ‌سرزمین‌ مشرق ‌فرستاد.

But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

ابراهیم ‌در سن ‌صد و هفتاد و پنج ‌سالگی در حالی كه ‌كاملاً پیر شده‌ بود، وفات‌ یافت ‌و به ‌نزد اجداد خود رفت‌.

And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.

ابراهیم ‌در سن ‌صد و هفتاد و پنج ‌سالگی در حالی كه ‌كاملاً پیر شده‌ بود، وفات‌ یافت ‌و به ‌نزد اجداد خود رفت‌.

Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.

پسران‌ او اسحاق ‌و اسماعیل ‌او را در آرامگاه‌ مكفیله‌ در مزرعهٔ مشرق ‌ممری كه‌ متعلّق‌ به‌ عفرون‌ پسر سوحار حِتّی بود، دفن‌ كردند.

And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

این‌ همان ‌مزرعه‌ای بود كه ‌ابراهیم‌ از حِتّیان خریده‌ بود. ابراهیم ‌و زنش ‌سارا هر دو در آنجا دفن ‌شدند.

The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

بعد از وفات ‌ابراهیم‌، خدا پسر او، اسحاق‌ را بركت‌ داد. او نزدیک‌ چاه «خدای زنده‌ و بینا» زندگی می‌كرد.

And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahai–roi.

پسران‌ اسماعیل‌-کسی‌که ‌هاجر، كنیز مصری سارا، برای ابراهیم به دنیا آورده‌ بود-

Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:

به ‌ترتیب ‌تولّدشان‌ عبارت‌ بودند از: نبایوت‌، قیدار، اَدَبئیل‌، مبسام‌،

And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

مشماع، دومه، مسا،

And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

حداد، تیما، یطور، نافیش ‌و قِدمَه.

Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

اینها نیاکان ‌دوازده‌ امیر بودند و نام‌ هریک ‌به ‌قبیله ‌و دهات‌ و اردو‌گاه‌ ایشان‌ داده‌ شد.

These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.

اسماعیل‌ صد و سی و هفت ‌ساله ‌بود كه‌ مرد و به‌ نزد اجداد خود رفت‌.

And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.

فرزندان‌ اسماعیل‌ در سرزمینی بین ‌حویله‌ و شور، در مشرق ‌مصر، در راه‌ آشور زندگی می‌كردند و از فرزندان‌ دیگر ابراهیم‌ جدا بودند.

And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.

این است ‌داستان زندگی ‌اسحاق‌ پسر ابراهیم‌.

And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:

اسحاق ‌چهل‌ ساله ‌بود كه ‌با ربكا دختر بتوئیل (اَرامی از اهالی بین‌النهرین‌) و خواهر لابان ‌ازدواج‌ كرد.

And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan–aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.

چون ‌ربكا فرزندی نداشت‌، اسحاق‌ نزد خداوند دعا كرد. خداوند دعای او را مستجاب ‌فرمود و ربكا آبستن‌ شد.

And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

ربكا دوقلو آبستن‌ شده ‌بود. قبل ‌از اینکه ‌بچّه‌ها به دنیا بیایند در شكم ‌مادرشان‌ برضد یكدیگر دست ‌و پا می‌زدند. ربكا گفت‌: «چرا باید چنین‌ چیزی برای من‌ اتّفاق بیفتد؟» پس ‌رفت‌ تا از خداوند بپرسد.

And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.

خداوند به ‌او فرمود: «دو ملّت ‌در شكم ‌تو می‌باشند. تو دو قوم را‌، كه‌ رقیب ‌یكدیگرند، به ‌دنیا می‌آوری‌. یكی از دیگری قویتر خواهد بود و برادر بزرگ خادم برادر كوچک خواهد بود.»

And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

وقت‌ زاییدن او رسید. او دو پسر به دنیا آورد.

And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

اولی سرخ‌رنگ‌ و پوستش‌ مانند پوستین‌، پُر از مو بود. اسم ‌او را عیسو گذاشتند.

And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

دوّمی وقتی به دنیا آمد، پاشنهٔ عیسو را محكم ‌گرفته ‌بود. اسم‌ او را یعقوب ‌گذاشتند. اسحاق ‌در موقع ‌تولّد این‌ پسرها شصت‌ ساله ‌بود.

And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

پسرها بزرگ‌ شدند. عیسو شكارچی ماهری شد و صحرا را دوست ‌می‌داشت‌، ولی یعقوب‌ مرد آرامی بود كه‌ در خانه می‌ماند.

And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

اسحاق ‌عیسو را بیشتر دوست ‌می‌داشت ‌چونكه ‌از حیواناتی كه‌ او شكار می‌كرد می‌خورد، امّا ربكا یعقوب‌ را بیشتر دوست‌ می‌داشت‌.

And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

یک‌ روز وقتی یعقوب ‌مشغول‌ پختن‌ آش ‌بود، عیسو از شكار آمد و گرسنه ‌بود.

And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

او به ‌یعقوب ‌گفت‌: «نزدیک ‌است‌ از گرسنگی بمیرم‌. مقداری از آن‌ آش ‌قرمز به‌ من ‌بده‌.» (به‌ همین ‌دلیل‌ است كه ‌به ‌او «اَدوم» یعنی قرمز می‌گویند.)

And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

یعقوب ‌به ‌او گفت‌: «به‌ این ‌شرط ‌از این‌ آش ‌به ‌تو می‌دهم ‌كه ‌تو حق ‌نخستزادگی خود را به ‌من ‌بدهی‌.»

And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

عیسو گفت‌: «بسیار خوب‌، چیزی نمانده‌ كه ‌از گرسنگی بمیرم‌. حق‌ نخستزادگی چه ‌فایده‌ای برای من‌ دارد؟»

And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

یعقوب گفت‌: «اول ‌برای من‌ قسم‌ بخور كه ‌حق‌ خود را به ‌من‌ دادی.» عیسو قسم‌ خورد و حق ‌نخستزادگی خود را به ‌یعقوب ‌داد.

And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

بعد از آن‌ یعقوب ‌مقداری آش‌ عدس ‌و نان‌ به ‌او داد. او خورد و نوشید و بلند شد و رفت‌. عیسو برای نخستزادگی خود بیشتر از این ‌ارزش ‌قایل ‌نشد.

Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
