Ecclesiastes 3

ہر چیز کی اپنی گھڑی ہوتی، آسمان تلے ہر معاملے کا اپنا وقت ہوتا ہے،

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

جنم لینے اور مرنے کا، پودا لگانے اور اُکھاڑنے کا،

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

مار دینے اور شفا دینے کا، ڈھا دینے اور تعمیر کرنے کا،

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

رونے اور ہنسنے کا، آہیں بھرنے اور رقص کرنے کا،

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

پتھر پھینکنے اور پتھر جمع کرنے کا، گلے ملنے اور اِس سے باز رہنے کا،

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

تلاش کرنے اور کھو دینے کا، محفوظ رکھنے اور پھینکنے کا،

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

پھاڑنے اور سی کر جوڑنے کا، خاموش رہنے اور بولنے کا،

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

پیار کرنے اور نفرت کرنے کا، جنگ لڑنے اور سلامتی سے زندگی گزارنے کا،

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

چنانچہ کیا فائدہ ہے کہ کام کرنے والا محنت مشقت کرے؟

What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

مَیں نے وہ تکلیف دہ کام کاج دیکھا جو اللہ نے انسان کے سپرد کیا تاکہ وہ اُس میں اُلجھا رہے۔

I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

اُس نے ہر چیز کو یوں بنایا ہے کہ وہ اپنے وقت کے لئے خوب صورت اور مناسب ہو۔ اُس نے انسان کے دل میں جاودانی بھی ڈالی ہے، گو وہ شروع سے لے کر آخر تک اُس کام کی تہہ تک نہیں پہنچ سکتا جو اللہ نے کیا ہے۔

He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

مَیں نے جان لیا کہ انسان کے لئے اِس سے بہتر کچھ نہیں ہے کہ وہ خوش رہے اور جیتے جی زندگی کا مزہ لے۔

I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

کیونکہ اگر کوئی کھائے پیئے اور تمام محنت مشقت کے ساتھ ساتھ خوش حال بھی ہو تو یہ اللہ کی بخشش ہے۔

And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

مجھے سمجھ آئی کہ جو کچھ اللہ کرے وہ ابد تک قائم رہے گا۔ اُس میں نہ اضافہ ہو سکتا ہے نہ کمی۔ اللہ یہ سب کچھ اِس لئے کرتا ہے کہ انسان اُس کا خوف مانے۔

I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

جو حال میں پیش آ رہا ہے وہ ماضی میں پیش آ چکا ہے، اور جو مستقبل میں پیش آئے گا وہ بھی پیش آ چکا ہے۔ ہاں، جو کچھ گزر چکا ہے اُسے اللہ دوبارہ واپس لاتا ہے۔

That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

مَیں نے سورج تلے مزید دیکھا، جہاں عدالت کرنی ہے وہاں ناانصافی ہے، جہاں انصاف کرنا ہے وہاں بےدینی ہے۔

And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

لیکن مَیں دل میں بولا، ”اللہ راست باز اور بےدین دونوں کی عدالت کرے گا، کیونکہ ہر معاملے اور کام کا اپنا وقت ہوتا ہے۔“

I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

مَیں نے یہ بھی سوچا، ”جہاں تک انسانوں کا تعلق ہے اللہ اُن کی جانچ پڑتال کرتا ہے تاکہ اُنہیں پتا چلے کہ وہ جانوروں کی مانند ہیں۔

I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

کیونکہ انسان و حیوان کا ایک ہی انجام ہے۔ دونوں دم چھوڑتے، دونوں میں ایک سا دم ہے، اِس لئے انسان کو حیوان کی نسبت زیادہ فائدہ حاصل نہیں ہوتا۔ سب کچھ باطل ہی ہے۔

For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

سب کچھ ایک ہی جگہ چلا جاتا ہے، سب کچھ خاک سے بنا ہے اور سب کچھ دوبارہ خاک میں مل جائے گا۔

All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

کون یقین سے کہہ سکتا ہے کہ انسان کی روح اوپر کی طرف جاتی اور حیوان کی روح نیچے زمین میں اُترتی ہے؟“

Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

غرض مَیں نے جان لیا کہ انسان کے لئے اِس سے بہتر کچھ نہیں ہے کہ وہ اپنے کاموں میں خوش رہے، یہی اُس کے نصیب میں ہے۔ کیونکہ کون اُسے وہ دیکھنے کے قابل بنائے گا جو اُس کے بعد پیش آئے گا؟ کوئی نہیں!

Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
