Amos 5

اے اسرائیلی قوم، میری بات سنو، تمہارے بارے میں میرے نوحہ پر دھیان دو!

Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.

”کنواری اسرائیل گر گئی ہے اور آئندہ کبھی نہیں اُٹھے گی۔ اُسے اُس کی اپنی زمین پر پٹخ دیا گیا ہے، اور کوئی اُسے دوبارہ کھڑا نہیں کرے گا۔“

The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.

رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے، ”اسرائیل کے جس شہر سے 1,000 مرد لڑنے کے لئے نکلیں گے اُس کے صرف 100 افراد واپس آئیں گے۔ اور جس شہر سے 100 نکلیں گے، اُس کے صرف 10 مرد واپس آئیں گے۔“

For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.

کیونکہ رب اسرائیلی قوم سے فرماتا ہے، ”مجھے تلاش کرو تو تم جیتے رہو گے۔

For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:

نہ بیت ایل کے طالب ہو، نہ جِلجال کے پاس جاؤ، اور نہ بیرسبع کے لئے روانہ ہو جاؤ! کیونکہ جِلجال کے باشندے یقیناً جلاوطن ہو جائیں گے، اور بیت ایل نیست و نابود ہو جائے گا۔“

But seek not Beth–el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer–sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth–el shall come to nought.

رب کو تلاش کرو تو تم جیتے رہو گے۔ ورنہ وہ آگ کی طرح یوسف کے گھرانے میں سے گزر کر بیت ایل کو بھسم کرے گا، اور اُسے کوئی نہیں بجھا سکے گا۔

Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Beth–el.

اُن پر افسوس جو انصاف کو اُلٹ کر زہر میں بدل دیتے، جو راستی کو زمین پر پٹخ دیتے ہیں!

Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,

اللہ سات سہیلیوں کے جھمکے اور جوزے کا خالق ہے۔ اندھیرے کو وہ صبح کی روشنی میں اور دن کو رات میں بدل دیتا ہے۔ جو سمندر کے پانی کو بُلا کر رُوئے زمین پر اُنڈیل دیتا ہے اُس کا نام رب ہے!

Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:

اچانک ہی وہ زورآوروں پر آفت لاتا ہے، اور اُس کے کہنے پر قلعہ بند شہر تباہ ہو جاتا ہے۔

That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.

تم اُس سے نفرت کرتے ہو جو عدالت میں انصاف کرے، تمہیں اُس سے گھن آتی ہے جو سچ بولے۔

They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

تم غریبوں کو کچل کر اُن کے اناج پر حد سے زیادہ ٹیکس لگاتے ہو۔ اِس لئے گو تم نے تراشے ہوئے پتھروں سے شاندار گھر بنائے ہیں توبھی اُن میں نہیں رہو گے، گو تم نے انگور کے پھلتے پھولتے باغ لگائے ہیں توبھی اُن کی مَے سے محظوظ نہیں ہو گے۔

Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.

مَیں تو تمہارے متعدد جرائم اور سنگین گناہوں سے خوب واقف ہوں۔ تم راست بازوں پر ظلم کرتے اور رشوت لے کر غریبوں کو عدالت میں انصاف سے محروم رکھتے ہو۔

For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.

اِس لئے سمجھ دار شخص اِس وقت خاموش رہتا ہے، وقت اِتنا ہی بُرا ہے۔

Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.

بُرائی کو تلاش نہ کرو بلکہ اچھائی کو، تب ہی جیتے رہو گے۔ تب ہی تمہارا دعویٰ درست ہو گا کہ رب جو لشکروں کا خدا ہے ہمارے ساتھ ہے۔

Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.

بُرائی سے نفرت کرو اور جو کچھ اچھا ہے اُسے پیار کرو۔ عدالتوں میں انصاف قائم رکھو، شاید رب جو لشکروں کا خدا ہے یوسف کے بچے کھچے حصے پر رحم کرے۔

Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

چنانچہ رب جو لشکروں کا خدا اور ہمارا آقا ہے فرماتا ہے، ”تمام چوکوں میں آہ و بکا ہو گی، تمام گلیوں میں لوگ ’ہائے، ہائے‘ کریں گے۔ کھیتی باڑی کرنے والوں کو بھی بُلایا جائے گا تاکہ پیشہ ورانہ طور پر سوگ منانے والوں کے ساتھ گریہ و زاری کریں۔

Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.

انگور کے تمام باغوں میں واویلا مچے گا، کیونکہ مَیں خود تمہارے درمیان سے گزروں گا۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the LORD.

اُن پر افسوس جو کہتے ہیں، ”کاش رب کا دن آ جائے!“ تمہارے لئے رب کے دن کا کیا فائدہ ہو گا؟ وہ تو تمہارے لئے روشنی کا نہیں بلکہ تاریکی کا باعث ہو گا۔

Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.

تب تم اُس آدمی کی مانند ہو گے جو شیرببر سے بھاگ کر ریچھ سے ٹکڑا جاتا ہے۔ جب گھر میں پناہ لے کر ہاتھ سے دیوار کا سہارا لیتا ہے تو سانپ اُسے ڈس لیتا ہے۔

As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

ہاں، رب کا دن تمہارے لئے روشنی کا نہیں بلکہ تاریکی کا باعث ہو گا۔ ایسا اندھیرا ہو گا کہ اُمید کی کرن تک نظر نہیں آئے گی۔

Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مجھے تمہارے مذہبی تہواروں سے نفرت ہے، مَیں اُنہیں حقیر جانتا ہوں۔ تمہارے اجتماعوں سے مجھے گھن آتی ہے۔

I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

جو بھسم ہونے والی اور غلہ کی قربانیاں تم مجھے پیش کرتے ہو اُنہیں مَیں پسند نہیں کرتا، جو موٹے تازے بَیل تم مجھے سلامتی کی قربانی کے طور پر چڑھاتے ہو اُن پر مَیں نظر بھی نہیں ڈالنا چاہتا۔

Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.

دفع کرو اپنے گیتوں کا شور! مَیں تمہارے ستاروں کی موسیقی سننا نہیں چاہتا۔

Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.

اِن چیزوں کی بجائے انصاف کا چشمہ پھوٹ نکلے اور راستی کی کبھی بند نہ ہونے والی نہر بہہ نکلے۔

But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

اے اسرائیل کے گھرانے، جب تم ریگستان میں گھومتے پھرتے تھے تو کیا تم نے اُن 40 سالوں کے دوران کبھی مجھے ذبح اور غلہ کی قربانیاں پیش کیں؟

Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?

نہیں، اُس وقت بھی تم اپنے بادشاہ سکوت دیوتا اور اپنے ستارے کیوان دیوتا کو اُٹھائے پھرتے تھے، گو تم نے اپنے ہاتھوں سے یہ بُت اپنے لئے بنا لئے تھے۔

But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.

اِس لئے رب جس کا نام لشکروں کا خدا ہے فرماتا ہے کہ مَیں تمہیں جلاوطن کر کے دمشق کے پار بسا دوں گا۔“

Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.
