Amos 4

اے کوہِ سامریہ کی موٹی تازی گائیو ، سنو میری بات! تم غریبوں پر ظلم کرتی اور ضرورت مندوں کو کچل دیتی، تم اپنے شوہروں کو کہتی ہو، ”جا کر مَے لے آؤ، ہم اَور پینا چاہتی ہیں۔“

Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.

رب نے اپنی قدوسیت کی قَسم کھا کر فرمایا ہے، ”وہ دن آنے والا ہے جب دشمن تمہیں کانٹوں کے ذریعے گھسیٹ کر اپنے ساتھ لے جائے گا۔ جو بچے گا اُسے مچھلی کے کانٹے سے پکڑا جائے گا۔

The Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.

ہر ایک کو فصیل کے رخنوں میں سے سیدھا نکلنا پڑے گا، ہر ایک کو حرمون پہاڑ کی طرف بھگا دیا جائے گا۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.

”چلو، بیت ایل جا کر گناہ کرو، جِلجال جا کر اپنے گناہوں میں اضافہ کرو! صبح کے وقت اپنی قربانیوں کو چڑھاؤ، تیسرے دن آمدنی کا دسواں حصہ پیش کرو۔

Come to Beth–el, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:

خمیری روٹی جلا کر اپنی شکرگزاری کا اظہار کرو، بلند آواز سے اُن قربانیوں کا اعلان کرو جو تم اپنی خوشی سے ادا کر رہے ہو۔ کیونکہ ایسی حرکتیں تم اسرائیلیوں کو بہت پسند ہیں۔“ یہ رب قادرِ مطلق کا فرمان ہے۔

And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں نے کال پڑنے دیا۔ ہر شہر اور آبادی میں روٹی ختم ہوئی۔ توبھی تم میرے پاس واپس نہیں آئے!

And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

ابھی فصل کے پکنے تک تین ماہ باقی تھے کہ مَیں نے تمہارے ملک میں بارشوں کو روک دیا۔ مَیں نے ہونے دیا کہ ایک شہر میں بارش ہوئی جبکہ ساتھ والا شہر اُس سے محروم رہا، ایک کھیت بارش سے سیراب ہوا جبکہ دوسرا جُھلس گیا۔

And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

جس شہر میں تھوڑا بہت پانی باقی تھا وہاں دیگر کئی شہروں کے باشندے لڑکھڑاتے ہوئے پہنچے، لیکن اُن کے لئے کافی نہیں تھا۔ توبھی تم میرے پاس واپس نہ آئے!“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں نے تمہاری فصلوں کو پَت روگ اور پھپھوندی سے تباہ کر دیا۔ جو بھی تمہارے متعدد انگور، انجیر، زیتون اور باقی پھل کے باغوں میں اُگتا تھا اُسے ٹڈیاں کھا گئیں۔ توبھی تم میرے پاس واپس نہ آئے!“

I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں نے تمہارے درمیان ایسی مہلک بیماری پھیلا دی جیسی قدیم زمانے میں مصر میں پھیل گئی تھی۔ تمہارے نوجوانوں کو مَیں نے تلوار سے مار ڈالا، تمہارے گھوڑے تم سے چھین لئے گئے۔ تمہاری لشکرگاہوں میں لاشوں کا تعفن اِتنا پھیل گیا کہ تم بہت تنگ ہوئے۔ توبھی تم میرے پاس واپس نہ آئے۔“

I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں نے تمہارے درمیان ایسی تباہی مچائی جیسی اُس دن ہوئی جب مَیں نے سدوم اور عمورہ کو تباہ کیا۔ تمہاری حالت بالکل اُس لکڑی کی مانند تھی جو آگ سے نکال کر بچائی تو گئی لیکن پھر بھی کافی جُھلس گئی تھی۔ توبھی تم واپس نہ آئے۔

I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

چنانچہ اے اسرائیل، اب مَیں آئندہ بھی تیرے ساتھ ایسا ہی کروں گا۔ اور چونکہ مَیں تیرے ساتھ ایسا کروں گا، اِس لئے اپنے خدا سے ملنے کے لئے تیار ہو جا، اے اسرائیل!“

Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

کیونکہ اللہ ہی پہاڑوں کو تشکیل دیتا، ہَوا کو خلق کرتا اور اپنے خیالات کو انسان پر ظاہر کرتا ہے۔ وہی تڑکا اور اندھیرا پیدا کرتا اور وہی زمین کی بلندیوں پر چلتا ہے۔ اُس کا نام ’رب، لشکروں کا خدا‘ ہے۔

For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.
