Psalms 40

Для дириґетна хору. Псалом Давидів.

I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

Непохитно надіюсь на Господа, і Він прихилився до мене, і благання моє Він почув.

He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

Витяг мене Він із згубної ями, із багна болотистого, і поставив на скелі ноги мої, і зміцнив мої стопи,

And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

і дав пісню нову в мої уста, для нашого Бога хвалу, нехай бачать багато-хто й пострах хай мають, і хай вони мають надію, на Господа!

Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Блаженна людина, що Бога вчинила своєю твердинею, і не зверталась до пишних та тих, що вони до неправди схиляються!

Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

Багато вчинив Ти, о Господи, Боже мій, Твої чуда й думки Твої тільки про нас, нема Тобі рівного! Я хотів би все це показати й про це розказати, та воно численніше, щоб можна його розповісти.

Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

Жертви й приношення Ти не схотів, Ти розкрив мені уші, цілопалення й жертви покутної Ти не жадав.

Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

Тоді я сказав: Ось я прийшов із звоєм книжки, про мене написаної.

I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

Твою волю чинити, мій Боже, я хочу, і Закон Твій у мене в серці.

I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

Я проповідував правду в великому зборі, ото, своїх уст не ув'язнюю я, Господи, знаєш Ти,

I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

справедливість Твою не ховав я в середині серця свого, про вірність Твою та спасіння Твоє я звіщав, не таїв я про милість Твою та про правду Твою на великім зібранні.

Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

Тому, Господи, не ув'язни милосердя Свого від мене, а милість та правда Твоя нехай завжди мене стережуть,

For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

бо нещастя без ліку мене оточили, беззаконня мої досягли вже мене, так що й бачити не можу, вони численнішими стали за волосся на моїй голові, і серце моє опустило мене...

Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

Зволь спасти мене, Господи, Господи, поспіши ж бо на поміч мені,

Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

нехай посоромлені будуть, і хай зганьблені будуть усі, хто шукає моєї душі, щоб схопити її! Нехай подадуться назад, і нехай посоромлені будуть, хто бажає для мене лихого!

Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

Бодай скам'яніли від сорому ті, хто говорить до мене: Ага! Ага!

Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

Нехай тішаться та веселяться Тобою всі ті, хто шукає Тебе та хто любить спасіння Твоє, нехай завжди говорять: Хай буде великий Господь! А я вбогий та бідний, за мене подбає Господь: моя поміч і мій оборонець то Ти, Боже мій, не спізняйся!

But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
