Mark 2

And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

کچھ دنوں کے بعد عیسیٰ کفرنحوم میں واپس آیا۔ جلد ہی خبر پھیل گئی کہ وہ گھر میں ہے۔

And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

اِس پر اِتنے لوگ جمع ہو گئے کہ پورا گھر بھر گیا بلکہ دروازے کے سامنے بھی جگہ نہ رہی۔ وہ اُنہیں کلامِ مُقدّس سنانے لگا۔

And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

اِتنے میں کچھ لوگ پہنچے۔ اُن میں سے چار آدمی ایک مفلوج کو اُٹھائے عیسیٰ کے پاس لانا چاہتے تھے۔

And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

مگر وہ اُسے ہجوم کی وجہ سے عیسیٰ تک نہ پہنچا سکے، اِس لئے اُنہوں نے چھت کھول دی۔ عیسیٰ کے اوپر کا حصہ اُدھیڑ کر اُنہوں نے چارپائی کو جس پر مفلوج لیٹا تھا اُتار دیا۔

When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

جب عیسیٰ نے اُن کا ایمان دیکھا تو اُس نے مفلوج سے کہا، ”بیٹا، تیرے گناہ معاف کر دیئے گئے ہیں۔“

But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

شریعت کے کچھ عالِم وہاں بیٹھے تھے۔ وہ یہ سن کر سوچ بچار میں پڑ گئے۔

Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

”یہ کس طرح ایسی باتیں کر سکتا ہے؟ کفر بک رہا ہے۔ صرف اللہ ہی گناہ معاف کر سکتا ہے۔“

And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

عیسیٰ نے اپنی روح میں فوراً جان لیا کہ وہ کیا سوچ رہے ہیں، اِس لئے اُس نے اُن سے پوچھا، ”تم دل میں اِس طرح کی باتیں کیوں سوچ رہے ہو؟

Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

کیا مفلوج سے یہ کہنا آسان ہے کہ ’تیرے گناہ معاف کر دیئے گئے ہیں‘ یا یہ کہ ’اُٹھ، اپنی چارپائی اُٹھا کر چل پھر‘؟

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

لیکن مَیں تم کو دکھاتا ہوں کہ ابنِ آدم کو واقعی دنیا میں گناہ معاف کرنے کا اختیار ہے۔“ یہ کہہ کر وہ مفلوج سے مخاطب ہوا،

I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

”مَیں تجھ سے کہتا ہوں کہ اُٹھ، اپنی چارپائی اُٹھا کر گھر چلا جا۔“

And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

وہ آدمی کھڑا ہوا اور فوراً اپنی چارپائی اُٹھا کر اُن کے دیکھتے دیکھتے چلا گیا۔ سب سخت حیرت زدہ ہوئے اور اللہ کی تمجید کر کے کہنے لگے، ”ایسا کام ہم نے کبھی نہیں دیکھا!“

And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.

پھر عیسیٰ نکل کر دوبارہ جھیل کے کنارے گیا۔ ایک بڑی بھیڑ اُس کے پاس آئی تو وہ اُنہیں سکھانے لگا۔

And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphæus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

چلتے چلتے اُس نے حلفئی کے بیٹے لاوی کو دیکھا جو ٹیکس لینے کے لئے اپنی چوکی پر بیٹھا تھا۔ عیسیٰ نے اُس سے کہا، ”میرے پیچھے ہو لے۔“ اور لاوی اُٹھ کر اُس کے پیچھے ہو لیا۔

And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.

بعد میں عیسیٰ لاوی کے گھر میں کھانا کھا رہا تھا۔ اُس کے ساتھ نہ صرف اُس کے شاگرد بلکہ بہت سے ٹیکس لینے والے اور گناہ گار بھی تھے، کیونکہ اُن میں سے بہتیرے اُس کے پیروکار بن چکے تھے۔

And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

شریعت کے کچھ فریسی عالِموں نے اُسے یوں ٹیکس لینے والوں اور گناہ گاروں کے ساتھ کھاتے دیکھا تو اُس کے شاگردوں سے پوچھا، ”یہ ٹیکس لینے والوں اور گناہ گاروں کے ساتھ کیوں کھاتا ہے؟“

When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

یہ سن کر عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”صحت مندوں کو ڈاکٹر کی ضرورت نہیں ہوتی بلکہ مریضوں کو۔ مَیں راست بازوں کو نہیں بلکہ گناہ گاروں کو بُلانے آیا ہوں۔“

And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?

یحییٰ کے شاگرد اور فریسی روزہ رکھا کرتے تھے۔ ایک موقع پر کچھ لوگ عیسیٰ کے پاس آئے اور پوچھا، ”آپ کے شاگرد روزہ کیوں نہیں رکھتے جبکہ یحییٰ اور فریسیوں کے شاگرد روزہ رکھتے ہیں؟“

And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”شادی کے مہمان کس طرح روزہ رکھ سکتے ہیں جب دُولھا اُن کے درمیان ہے؟ جب تک دُولھا اُن کے ساتھ ہے وہ روزہ نہیں رکھ سکتے۔

But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

لیکن ایک دن آئے گا جب دُولھا اُن سے لے لیا جائے گا۔ اُس وقت وہ ضرور روزہ رکھیں گے۔

No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.

کوئی بھی نئے کپڑے کا ٹکڑا کسی پرانے لباس میں نہیں لگاتا۔ اگر وہ ایسا کرے تو نیا ٹکڑا بعد میں سکڑ کر پرانے لباس سے الگ ہو جائے گا۔ یوں پرانے لباس کی پھٹی ہوئی جگہ پہلے کی نسبت زیادہ خراب ہو جائے گی۔

And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.

اِسی طرح کوئی بھی انگور کا تازہ رس پرانی اور بےلچک مشکوں میں نہیں ڈالتا۔ اگر وہ ایسا کرے تو پرانی مشکیں پیدا ہونے والی گیس کے باعث پھٹ جائیں گی۔ نتیجے میں مَے اور مشکیں دونوں ضائع ہو جائیں گی۔ اِس لئے انگور کا تازہ رس نئی مشکوں میں ڈالا جاتا ہے جو لچک دار ہوتی ہیں۔“

And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.

ایک دن عیسیٰ اناج کے کھیتوں میں سے گزر رہا تھا۔ چلتے چلتے اُس کے شاگرد کھانے کے لئے اناج کی بالیں توڑنے لگے۔ سبت کا دن تھا۔

And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?

یہ دیکھ کر فریسیوں نے عیسیٰ سے پوچھا، ”دیکھو، یہ کیوں ایسا کر رہے ہیں؟ سبت کے دن ایسا کرنا منع ہے۔“

And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?

عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”کیا تم نے کبھی نہیں پڑھا کہ داؤد نے کیا کِیا جب اُسے اور اُس کے ساتھیوں کو بھوک لگی اور اُن کے پاس خوراک نہیں تھی؟

How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?

اُس وقت ابیاتر امامِ اعظم تھا۔ داؤد اللہ کے گھر میں داخل ہوا اور رب کے لئے مخصوص شدہ روٹیاں لے کر کھائیں، اگرچہ صرف اماموں کو اِنہیں کھانے کی اجازت ہے۔ اور اُس نے اپنے ساتھیوں کو بھی یہ روٹیاں کھلائیں۔“

And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

پھر اُس نے کہا، ”انسان کو سبت کے دن کے لئے نہیں بنایا گیا بلکہ سبت کا دن انسان کے لئے۔

Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

چنانچہ ابنِ آدم سبت کا بھی مالک ہے۔“
