Joshua 10

Now it came to pass, when Adoni–zedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;

یروشلم کے بادشاہ ادونی صدق کو خبر ملی کہ یشوع نے عَی پر یوں قبضہ کر کے اُسے مکمل طور پر تباہ کر دیا ہے جس طرح اُس نے یریحو اور اُس کے بادشاہ کے ساتھ بھی کیا تھا۔ اُسے یہ اطلاع بھی دی گئی کہ جِبعون کے باشندے اسرائیلیوں کے ساتھ صلح کا معاہدہ کر کے اُن کے درمیان رہ رہے ہیں۔

That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.

یہ سن کر وہ اور اُس کی قوم نہایت ڈر گئے، کیونکہ جِبعون بڑا شہر تھا۔ وہ اہمیت کے لحاظ سے اُن شہروں کے برابر تھا جن کے بادشاہ تھے، بلکہ وہ عَی شہر سے بھی بڑا تھا، اور اُس کے تمام مرد بہترین فوجی تھے۔

Wherefore Adoni–zedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

چنانچہ یروشلم کے بادشاہ ادونی صدق نے اپنے قاصد حبرون کے بادشاہ ہوہام، یرموت کے بادشاہ پیرام، لکیس کے بادشاہ یفیع اور عجلون کے بادشاہ دبیر کے پاس بھیج دیئے۔

Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

پیغام یہ تھا، ”آئیں اور جِبعون پر حملہ کرنے میں میری مدد کریں، کیونکہ اُس نے یشوع اور اسرائیلیوں کے ساتھ صلح کا معاہدہ کر لیا ہے۔“

Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.

یروشلم، حبرون، یرموت، لکیس اور عجلون کے یہ پانچ اموری بادشاہ متحد ہوئے۔ وہ اپنے تمام فوجیوں کو لے کر چل پڑے اور جِبعون کا محاصرہ کر کے اُس سے جنگ کرنے لگے۔

And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

اُس وقت یشوع نے اپنے خیمے جِلجال میں لگائے تھے۔ جِبعون کے لوگوں نے اُسے پیغام بھیج دیا، ”اپنے خادموں کو ترک نہ کریں۔ جلدی سے ہمارے پاس آ کر ہمیں بچائیں! ہماری مدد کیجئے، کیونکہ پہاڑی علاقے کے تمام اموری بادشاہ ہمارے خلاف متحد ہو گئے ہیں۔“

So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.

یہ سن کر یشوع اپنی پوری فوج کے ساتھ جِلجال سے نکلا اور جِبعون کے لئے روانہ ہوا۔ اُس کے بہترین فوجی بھی سب اُس کے ساتھ تھے۔

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.

رب نے یشوع سے کہا، ”اُن سے مت ڈرنا، کیونکہ مَیں اُنہیں تیرے ہاتھ میں کر چکا ہوں۔ اُن میں سے ایک بھی تیرا مقابلہ نہیں کرنے پائے گا۔“

Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.

اور یشوع نے جِلجال سے ساری رات سفر کرتے کرتے اچانک دشمن پر حملہ کیا۔

And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Beth–horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

اُس وقت رب نے اسرائیلیوں کے دیکھتے دیکھتے دشمن میں ابتری پیدا کر دی، اور اُنہوں نے جِبعون کے قریب دشمن کو زبردست شکست دی۔ اسرائیلی بیت حَورون تک پہنچانے والے راستے پر اموریوں کا تعاقب کرتے کرتے اُنہیں عزیقہ اور مقیدہ تک موت کے گھاٹ اُتارتے گئے۔

And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Beth–horon, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

اور جب اموری اِس راستے پر عزیقہ کی طرف بھاگ رہے تھے تو رب نے آسمان سے اُن پر بڑے بڑے اولے برسائے جنہوں نے اسرائیلیوں کی نسبت زیادہ دشمنوں کو ہلاک کر دیا۔

Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

اُس دن جب رب نے اموریوں کو اسرائیل کے ہاتھ میں کر دیا تو یشوع نے اسرائیلیوں کی موجودگی میں رب سے کہا، ”اے سورج، جِبعون کے اوپر رُک جا! اے چاند، وادیِ ایالون پر ٹھہر جا!“

And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

تب سورج رُک گیا، اور چاند نے آگے حرکت نہ کی۔ جب تک کہ اسرائیل نے اپنے دشمنوں سے پورا بدلہ نہ لے لیا اُس وقت تک وہ رُکے رہے۔ اِس بات کا ذکر یاشر کی کتاب میں کیا گیا ہے۔ سورج آسمان کے بیچ میں رُک گیا اور تقریباً ایک پورے دن کے دوران غروب نہ ہوا۔

And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

یہ دن منفرد تھا۔ رب نے انسان کی اِس طرح کی دعا نہ کبھی اِس سے پہلے، نہ کبھی اِس کے بعد سنی۔ کیونکہ رب خود اسرائیل کے لئے لڑ رہا تھا۔

And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

اِس کے بعد یشوع پورے اسرائیل سمیت جِلجال کی خیمہ گاہ میں لوٹ آیا۔

But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah.

لیکن پانچوں اموری بادشاہ فرار ہو کر مقیدہ کے ایک غار میں چھپ گئے تھے۔

And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah.

یشوع کو اطلاع دی گئی

And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:

تو اُس نے کہا، ”کچھ بڑے بڑے پتھر لُڑھکا کر غار کا منہ بند کرنا، اور کچھ آدمی اُس کی پہرہ داری کریں۔

And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the LORD your God hath delivered them into your hand.

لیکن باقی لوگ نہ رُکیں بلکہ دشمنوں کا تعاقب کر کے پیچھے سے اُنہیں مارتے جائیں۔ اُنہیں دوبارہ اپنے شہروں میں داخل ہونے کا موقع مت دینا، کیونکہ رب آپ کے خدا نے اُنہیں آپ کے ہاتھ میں کر دیا ہے۔“

And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities.

چنانچہ یشوع اور باقی اسرائیلی اُنہیں ہلاک کرتے رہے، اور کم ہی اپنے شہروں کی فصیل میں داخل ہو سکے۔

And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.

اِس کے بعد پوری فوج صحیح سلامت یشوع کے پاس مقیدہ کی لشکرگاہ میں واپس پہنچ گئی۔ اب سے کسی میں بھی اسرائیلیوں کو دھمکی دینے کی جرٲت نہ رہی۔

Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.

پھر یشوع نے کہا، ”غار کے منہ کو کھول کر یہ پانچ بادشاہ میرے پاس نکال لائیں۔“

And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.

لوگ غار کو کھول کر یروشلم، حبرون، یرموت، لکیس اور عجلون کے بادشاہوں کو یشوع کے پاس نکال لائے۔

And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.

یشوع نے اسرائیل کے مردوں کو بُلا کر اپنے ساتھ کھڑے فوجی افسروں سے کہا، ”اِدھر آ کر اپنے پیروں کو بادشاہوں کی گردنوں پر رکھ دیں۔“ افسروں نے ایسا ہی کیا۔

And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.

پھر یشوع نے اُن سے کہا، ”نہ ڈریں اور نہ حوصلہ ہاریں۔ مضبوط اور دلیر ہوں۔ رب یہی کچھ اُن تمام دشمنوں کے ساتھ کرے گا جن سے آپ لڑیں گے۔“

And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.

یہ کہہ کر اُس نے بادشاہوں کو ہلاک کر کے اُن کی لاشیں پانچ درختوں سے لٹکا دیں۔ وہاں وہ شام تک لٹکی رہیں۔

And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave's mouth, which remain until this very day.

جب سورج ڈوبنے لگا تو لوگوں نے یشوع کے حکم پر لاشیں اُتار کر اُس غار میں پھینک دیں جس میں بادشاہ چھپ گئے تھے۔ پھر اُنہوں نے غار کے منہ کو بڑے بڑے پتھروں سے بند کر دیا۔ یہ پتھر آج تک وہاں پڑے ہوئے ہیں۔

And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho.

اُس دن مقیدہ یشوع کے قبضے میں آ گیا۔ اُس نے پورے شہر کو تلوار سے رب کے لئے مخصوص کر کے تباہ کر دیا۔ بادشاہ سمیت سب ہلاک ہوئے اور ایک بھی نہ بچا۔ شہر کے بادشاہ کے ساتھ اُس نے وہ سلوک کیا جو اُس نے یریحو کے بادشاہ کے ساتھ کیا تھا۔

Then Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah:

پھر یشوع نے تمام اسرائیلیوں کے ساتھ وہاں سے آگے نکل کر لِبناہ پر حملہ کیا۔

And the LORD delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto the king thereof as he did unto the king of Jericho.

رب نے اُس شہر اور اُس کے بادشاہ کو بھی اسرائیل کے ہاتھ میں کر دیا۔ یشوع نے تلوار سے شہر کے تمام باشندوں کو ہلاک کیا، اور ایک بھی نہ بچا۔ بادشاہ کے ساتھ اُس نے وہی سلوک کیا جو اُس نے یریحو کے بادشاہ کے ساتھ کیا تھا۔

And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it:

اِس کے بعد اُس نے تمام اسرائیلیوں کے ساتھ لِبناہ سے آگے بڑھ کر لکیس کا محاصرہ کیا۔ جب اُس نے اُس پر حملہ کیا

And the LORD delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel, which took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.

تو رب نے یہ شہر اُس کے بادشاہ سمیت اسرائیل کے ہاتھ میں کر دیا۔ دوسرے دن وہ یشوع کے قبضے میں آ گیا۔ شہر کے سارے باشندوں کو اُس نے تلوار سے ہلاک کیا، جس طرح کہ اُس نے لِبناہ کے ساتھ بھی کیا تھا۔

Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.

ساتھ ساتھ یشوع نے جزر کے بادشاہ ہورم اور اُس کے لوگوں کو بھی شکست دی جو لکیس کی مدد کرنے کے لئے آئے تھے۔ اُن میں سے ایک بھی نہ بچا۔

And from Lachish Joshua passed unto Eglon, and all Israel with him; and they encamped against it, and fought against it:

پھر یشوع نے تمام اسرائیلیوں کے ساتھ لکیس سے آگے بڑھ کر عجلون کا محاصرہ کر لیا۔ اُسی دن اُنہوں نے اُس پر حملہ کر کے

And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.

اُس پر قبضہ کر لیا۔ جس طرح لکیس کے ساتھ ہوا اُسی طرح عجلون کے ساتھ بھی کیا گیا یعنی شہر کے تمام باشندے تلوار سے ہلاک ہوئے۔

And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it:

اِس کے بعد یشوع نے تمام اسرائیلیوں کے ساتھ عجلون سے آگے بڑھ کر حبرون پر حملہ کیا۔

And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein.

شہر پر قبضہ کر کے اُنہوں نے بادشاہ، ارد گرد کی آبادیاں اور باشندے سب کے سب تہہ تیغ کر دیئے۔ کوئی نہ بچا۔ عجلون کی طرح اُنہوں نے اُسے پورے طور پر تمام باشندوں سمیت رب کے لئے مخصوص کر کے تباہ کر دیا۔

And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it:

پھر یشوع تمام اسرائیلیوں کے ساتھ مُڑ کر دبیر کی طرف بڑھ گیا۔ اُس پر حملہ کر کے

And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king.

اُس نے شہر، اُس کے بادشاہ اور ارد گرد کی آبادیوں پر قبضہ کر لیا۔ سب کو نیست کر دیا گیا، ایک بھی نہ بچا۔ یوں دبیر کے ساتھ وہ کچھ ہوا جو پہلے حبرون اور لِبناہ اُس کے بادشاہ سمیت ہوا تھا۔

So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD God of Israel commanded.

اِس طرح یشوع نے جنوبی کنعان کے تمام بادشاہوں کو شکست دے کر اُن کے پورے ملک پر قبضہ کر لیا یعنی ملک کے پہاڑی علاقے پر، جنوب کے دشتِ نجب پر، مغرب کے نشیبی پہاڑی علاقے پر اور وادیِ یردن کے مغرب میں واقع پہاڑی ڈھلانوں پر۔ اُس نے کسی کو بھی بچنے نہ دیا بلکہ ہر جاندار کو رب کے لئے مخصوص کر کے ہلاک کر دیا۔ یہ سب کچھ ویسا ہی ہوا جیسا رب اسرائیل کے خدا نے حکم دیا تھا۔

And Joshua smote them from Kadesh–barnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon.

یشوع نے اُنہیں قادس برنیع سے لے کر غزہ تک اور جشن کے پورے علاقے سے لے کر جِبعون تک شکست دی۔

And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.

اِن تمام بادشاہوں اور اُن کے ممالک پر یشوع نے ایک ہی وقت فتح پائی، کیونکہ اسرائیل کا خدا اسرائیل کے لئے لڑا۔

And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

اِس کے بعد یشوع تمام اسرائیلیوں کے ساتھ جِلجال کی خیمہ گاہ میں لوٹ آیا۔
