Isaiah 24

Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.

دیکھو، رب دنیا کو ویران و سنسان کر دے گا، رُوئے زمین کو اُلٹ پلٹ کر کے اُس کے باشندوں کو منتشر کر دے گا۔

And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

کسی کو بھی چھوڑا نہیں جائے گا، خواہ امام ہو یا عام شخص، مالک یا نوکر، مالکن یا نوکرانی، بیچنے والا یا خریدار، اُدھار لینے یا دینے والا، قرض دار یا قرض خواہ۔

The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.

زمین مکمل طور پر اُجڑ جائے گی، اُسے سراسر لُوٹا جائے گا۔ رب ہی نے یہ سب کچھ فرمایا ہے۔

The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.

زمین سوکھ سوکھ کر سکڑ جائے گی، دنیا خشک ہو کر مُرجھا جائے گی۔ اُس کے بڑے بڑے لوگ بھی نڈھال ہو جائیں گے۔

The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

زمین کے اپنے باشندوں نے اُس کی بےحرمتی کی ہے، کیونکہ وہ شریعت کے تابع نہ رہے بلکہ اُس کے احکام کو تبدیل کر کے اللہ کے ساتھ کا ابدی عہد توڑ دیا ہے۔

Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

اِسی لئے زمین لعنت کا لقمہ بن گئی ہے، اُس پر بسنے والے اپنی سزا بھگت رہے ہیں۔ اِسی لئے دنیا کے باشندے بھسم ہو رہے ہیں اور کم ہی باقی رہ گئے ہیں۔

The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.

انگور کا تازہ رس سوکھ کر ختم ہو رہا، انگور کی بیلیں مُرجھا رہی ہیں۔ جو پہلے خوش باش تھے وہ آہیں بھرنے لگے ہیں۔

The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.

دفوں کی خوش کن آوازیں بند، رنگ رلیاں منانے والوں کا شور بند، سرودوں کے سُریلے نغمے بند ہو گئے ہیں۔

They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.

اب لوگ گیت گا گا کر مَے نہیں پیتے بلکہ شراب اُنہیں کڑوی ہی لگتی ہے۔

The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.

ویران و سنسان شہر تباہ ہو گیا ہے، ہر گھر کے دروازے پر کنڈی لگی ہے تاکہ اندر گھسنے والوں سے محفوظ رہے۔

There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

گلیوں میں لوگ گریہ و زاری کر رہے ہیں کہ مَے ختم ہے۔ ہر خوشی دُور ہو گئی ہے، ہر شادمانی زمین سے غائب ہے۔

In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.

شہر میں ملبے کے ڈھیر ہی رہ گئے ہیں، اُس کے دروازے ٹکڑے ٹکڑے ہو گئے ہیں۔

When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.

کیونکہ ملک کے درمیان اور اقوام کے بیچ میں یہی صورتِ حال ہو گی کہ چند ایک ہی بچ پائیں گے، بالکل اُن دو چار زیتونوں کی مانند جو درخت کو جھاڑنے کے باوجود اُس پر رہ جاتے ہیں، یا اُن دو چار انگوروں کی طرح جو فصل چننے کے باوجود بیلوں پر لگے رہتے ہیں۔

They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea.

لیکن یہ چند ایک ہی پکار کر خوشی کے نعرے لگائیں گے۔ مغرب سے وہ رب کی عظمت کی ستائش کریں گے۔

Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.

چنانچہ مشرق میں رب کو جلال دو، جزیروں میں اسرائیل کے خدا کے نام کی تعظیم کرو۔

From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

ہمیں دنیا کی انتہا سے گیت سنائی دے رہے ہیں، ”راست خدا کی تعریف ہو!“ لیکن مَیں بول اُٹھا، ”ہائے، مَیں گھل گھل کر مر رہا ہوں، مَیں گھل گھل کر مر رہا ہوں! مجھ پر افسوس، کیونکہ بےوفا اپنی بےوفائی دکھا رہے ہیں، بےوفا کھلے طور پر اپنی بےوفائی دکھا رہے ہیں!“

Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.

اے دنیا کے باشندو، تم دہشت ناک مصیبت، گڑھوں اور پھندوں میں پھنس جاؤ گے۔

And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

تب جو ہول ناک آوازوں سے بھاگ کر بچ جائے وہ گڑھے میں گر جائے گا، اور جو گڑھے سے نکل جائے وہ پھندے میں پھنس جائے گا۔ کیونکہ آسمان کے دریچے کھل رہے اور زمین کی بنیادیں ہل رہی ہیں۔

The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.

زمین کڑک سے پھٹ رہی ہے۔ وہ ڈگمگا رہی، جھوم رہی،

The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

نشے میں آئے شرابی کی طرح لڑکھڑا رہی اور کچی جھونپڑی کی طرح جھول رہی ہے۔ آخرکار وہ اپنی بےوفائی کے بوجھ تلے اِتنے دھڑام سے گرے گی کہ آئندہ کبھی نہیں اُٹھنے کی۔

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

اُس دن رب آسمان کے لشکر اور زمین کے بادشاہوں سے جواب طلب کرے گا۔

And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.

تب وہ گرفتار ہو کر گڑھے میں جمع ہوں گے، اُنہیں قیدخانے میں ڈال کر متعدد دنوں کے بعد سزا ملے گی۔

Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

اُس وقت چاند نادم ہو گا اور سورج شرم کھائے گا، کیونکہ رب الافواج کوہِ صیون پر تخت نشین ہو گا۔ وہاں یروشلم میں وہ بڑی شان و شوکت کے ساتھ اپنے بزرگوں کے سامنے حکومت کرے گا۔
