Deuteronomy 24

When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

ہو سکتا ہے کوئی آدمی کسی عورت سے شادی کرے لیکن بعد میں اُسے پسند نہ کرے، کیونکہ اُسے بیوی کے بارے میں کسی شرم ناک بات کا پتا چل گیا ہے۔ وہ طلاق نامہ لکھ کر اُسے عورت کو دیتا اور پھر اُسے گھر سے واپس بھیج دیتا ہے۔

And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.

اِس کے بعد اُس عورت کی شادی کسی اَور مرد سے ہو جاتی ہے،

And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;

اور وہ بھی بعد میں اُسے پسند نہیں کرتا۔ وہ بھی طلاق نامہ لکھ کر اُسے عورت کو دیتا اور پھر اُسے گھر سے واپس بھیج دیتا ہے۔ خواہ دوسرا شوہر اُسے واپس بھیج دے یا شوہر مر جائے،

Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

عورت کے پہلے شوہر کو اُس سے دوبارہ شادی کرنے کی اجازت نہیں ہے، کیونکہ وہ عورت اُس کے لئے ناپاک ہے۔ ایسی حرکت رب کی نظر میں قابلِ گھن ہے۔ اُس ملک کو یوں گناہ آلودہ نہ کرنا جو رب تیرا خدا تجھے میراث میں دے رہا ہے۔

When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

اگر کسی آدمی نے ابھی ابھی شادی کی ہو تو تُو اُسے بھرتی کر کے جنگ کرنے کے لئے نہیں بھیج سکتا۔ تُو اُسے کوئی بھی ایسی ذمہ داری نہیں دے سکتا، جس سے وہ گھر سے دُور رہنے پر مجبور ہو جائے۔ ایک سال تک وہ ایسی ذمہ داریوں سے بَری رہے تاکہ گھر میں رہ کر اپنی بیوی کو خوش کر سکے۔

No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh a man's life to pledge.

اگر کوئی تجھ سے اُدھار لے تو ضمانت کے طور پر اُس سے نہ اُس کی چھوٹی چکّی، نہ اُس کی بڑی چکّی کا پاٹ لینا، کیونکہ ایسا کرنے سے تُو اُس کی جان لے گا یعنی تُو وہ چیز لے گا جس سے اُس کا گزارہ ہوتا ہے۔

If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.

اگر کسی آدمی کو پکڑا جائے جس نے اپنے ہم وطن کو اغوا کر کے غلام بنا لیا یا بیچ دیا ہے تو اُسے سزائے موت دینا ہے۔ یوں تُو اپنے درمیان سے بُرائی مٹا دے گا۔

Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do.

اگر کوئی وبائی جِلدی بیماری تجھے لگ جائے تو بڑی احتیاط سے لاوی کے قبیلے کے اماموں کی تمام ہدایات پر عمل کرنا۔ جو بھی حکم مَیں نے اُنہیں دیا اُسے پورا کرنا۔

Remember what the LORD thy God did unto Miriam by the way, after that ye were come forth out of Egypt.

یاد کر کہ رب تیرے خدا نے مریم کے ساتھ کیا کِیا جب تم مصر سے نکل کر سفر کر رہے تھے۔

When thou dost lend thy brother any thing, thou shalt not go into his house to fetch his pledge.

اپنے ہم وطن کو اُدھار دیتے وقت اُس کے گھر میں نہ جانا تاکہ ضمانت کی کوئی چیز ملے

Thou shalt stand abroad, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring out the pledge abroad unto thee.

بلکہ باہر ٹھہر کر انتظار کر کہ وہ خود گھر سے ضمانت کی چیز نکال کر تجھے دے۔

And if the man be poor, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge:

اگر وہ اِتنا ضرورت مند ہو کہ صرف اپنی چادر دے سکے تو رات کے وقت ضمانت تیرے پاس نہ رہے۔

In any case thou shalt deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth down, that he may sleep in his own raiment, and bless thee: and it shall be righteousness unto thee before the LORD thy God.

اُسے سورج ڈوبنے تک واپس کرنا تاکہ قرض دار اُس میں لپٹ کر سو سکے۔ پھر وہ تجھے برکت دے گا اور رب تیرا خدا تیرا یہ قدم راست قرار دے گا۔

Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:

ضرورت مند مزدور سے غلط فائدہ نہ اُٹھانا، چاہے وہ اسرائیلی ہو یا پردیسی۔

At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee.

اُسے روزانہ سورج ڈوبنے سے پہلے پہلے اُس کی مزدوری دے دینا، کیونکہ اِس سے اُس کا گزارہ ہوتا ہے۔ کہیں وہ رب کے حضور تیری شکایت نہ کرے اور تُو قصوروار ٹھہرے۔

The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

والدین کو اُن کے بچوں کے جرائم کے سبب سے سزائے موت نہ دی جائے، نہ بچوں کو اُن کے والدین کے جرائم کے سبب سے۔ اگر کسی کو سزائے موت دینی ہو تو اُس گناہ کے سبب سے جو اُس نے خود کیا ہے۔

Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge:

پردیسیوں اور یتیموں کے حقوق قائم رکھنا۔ اُدھار دیتے وقت ضمانت کے طور پر بیوہ کی چادر نہ لینا۔

But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

یاد رکھ کہ تُو بھی مصر میں غلام تھا اور کہ رب تیرے خدا نے فدیہ دے کر تجھے وہاں سے چھڑایا۔ اِسی وجہ سے مَیں تجھے یہ حکم دیتا ہوں۔

When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.

اگر تُو فصل کی کٹائی کے وقت ایک پُولا بھول کر کھیت میں چھوڑ آئے تو اُسے لانے کے لئے واپس نہ جانا۔ اُسے پردیسیوں، یتیموں اور بیواؤں کے لئے وہیں چھوڑ دینا تاکہ رب تیرا خدا تیرے ہر کام میں برکت دے۔

When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

جب زیتون کی فصل پک گئی ہو تو درختوں کو مار مار کر ایک ہی بار اُن میں سے پھل اُتار۔ اِس کے بعد اُنہیں نہ چھیڑنا۔ بچا ہوا پھل پردیسیوں، یتیموں اور بیواؤں کے لئے چھوڑ دینا۔

When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

اِسی طرح اپنے انگور توڑنے کے لئے ایک ہی بار باغ میں سے گزرنا۔ اِس کے بعد اُسے نہ چھیڑنا۔ بچا ہوا پھل پردیسیوں، یتیموں اور بیواؤں کے لئے چھوڑ دینا۔

And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

یاد رکھ کہ تُو خود مصر میں غلام تھا۔ اِسی وجہ سے مَیں تجھے یہ حکم دیتا ہوں۔
