Deuteronomy 23

He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

جب اسرائیلی رب کے مقدِس کے پاس جمع ہوتے ہیں تو اُسے حاضر ہونے کی اجازت نہیں جو کاٹنے یا کچلنے سے خوجہ بن گیا ہے۔

A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

اِسی طرح وہ بھی مُقدّس اجتماع سے دُور رہے جو ناجائز تعلقات کے نتیجے میں پیدا ہوا ہے۔ اُس کی اولاد بھی دسویں پشت تک اُس میں نہیں آ سکتی۔

An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever:

کوئی بھی عمونی یا موآبی مُقدّس اجتماع میں شریک نہیں ہو سکتا۔ اِن قوموں کی اولاد دسویں پشت تک بھی اِس جماعت میں حاضر نہیں ہو سکتی،

Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee.

کیونکہ جب تم مصر سے نکل آئے تو وہ روٹی اور پانی لے کر تم سے ملنے نہ آئے۔ نہ صرف یہ بلکہ اُنہوں نے مسوپتامیہ کے شہر فتور میں جا کر بلعام بن بعور کو پیسے دیئے تاکہ وہ تجھ پر لعنت بھیجے۔

Nevertheless the LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD thy God loved thee.

لیکن رب تیرے خدا نے بلعام کی نہ سنی بلکہ اُس کی لعنت برکت میں بدل دی۔ کیونکہ رب تیرا خدا تجھ سے پیار کرتا ہے۔

Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever.

عمر بھر کچھ نہ کرنا جس سے اِن قوموں کی سلامتی اور خوش حالی بڑھ جائے۔

Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.

لیکن ادومیوں کو مکروہ نہ سمجھنا، کیونکہ وہ تمہارے بھائی ہیں۔ اِسی طرح مصریوں کو بھی مکروہ نہ سمجھنا، کیونکہ تُو اُن کے ملک میں پردیسی مہمان تھا۔

The children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation of the LORD in their third generation.

اُن کی تیسری نسل کے لوگ رب کے مُقدّس اجتماع میں شریک ہو سکتے ہیں۔

When the host goeth forth against thine enemies, then keep thee from every wicked thing.

اپنے دشمنوں سے جنگ کرتے وقت اپنی لشکرگاہ میں ہر ناپاک چیز سے دُور رہنا۔

If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chanceth him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp:

مثلاً اگر کوئی آدمی رات کے وقت اِحتلام کے باعث ناپاک ہو جائے تو وہ لشکرگاہ کے باہر جا کر شام تک وہاں ٹھہرے۔

But it shall be, when evening cometh on, he shall wash himself with water: and when the sun is down, he shall come into the camp again.

دن ڈھلتے وقت وہ نہا لے تو سورج ڈوبنے پر لشکرگاہ میں واپس آ سکتا ہے۔

Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad:

اپنی حاجت رفع کرنے کے لئے لشکرگاہ سے باہر کوئی جگہ مقرر کر۔

And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee:

جب کسی کو حاجت کے لئے بیٹھنا ہو تو وہ اِس کے لئے گڑھا کھودے اور بعد میں اُسے مٹی سے بھر دے۔ اِس لئے اپنے سامان میں کھدائی کا کوئی آلہ رکھنا ضروری ہے۔

For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.

رب تیرا خدا تیری لشکرگاہ میں تیرے درمیان ہی گھومتا پھرتا ہے تاکہ تُو محفوظ رہے اور دشمن تیرے سامنے شکست کھائے۔ اِس لئے لازم ہے کہ تیری لشکرگاہ اُس کے لئے مخصوص و مُقدّس ہو۔ ایسا نہ ہو کہ اللہ وہاں کوئی شرم ناک بات دیکھ کر تجھ سے دُور ہو جائے۔

Thou shalt not deliver unto his master the servant which is escaped from his master unto thee:

اگر کوئی غلام تیرے پاس پناہ لے تو اُسے مالک کو واپس نہ کرنا۔

He shall dwell with thee, even among you, in that place which he shall choose in one of thy gates, where it liketh him best: thou shalt not oppress him.

وہ تیرے ساتھ اور تیرے درمیان ہی رہے، وہاں جہاں وہ بسنا چاہے، اُس شہر میں جو اُسے پسند آئے۔ اُسے نہ دبانا۔

There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

کسی دیوتا کی خدمت میں عصمت فروشی کرنا ہر اسرائیلی عورت اور مرد کے لئے منع ہے۔

Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

مَنت مانتے وقت نہ کسبی کا اجر، نہ کُتے کے پیسے رب کے مقدِس میں لانا، کیونکہ رب تیرے خدا کو دونوں چیزوں سے گھن ہے۔

Thou shalt not lend upon usury to thy brother; usury of money, usury of victuals, usury of any thing that is lent upon usury:

اگر کوئی اسرائیلی بھائی تجھ سے قرض لے تو اُس سے سود نہ لینا، خواہ تُو نے اُسے پیسے، کھانا یا کوئی اَور چیز دی ہو۔

Unto a stranger thou mayest lend upon usury; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon usury: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all that thou settest thine hand to in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

اپنے اسرائیلی بھائی سے سود نہ لے بلکہ صرف پردیسی سے۔ پھر جب تُو ملک پر قبضہ کر کے اُس میں رہے گا تو رب تیرا خدا تیرے ہر کام میں برکت دے گا۔

When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.

جب تُو رب اپنے خدا کے حضور مَنت مانے تو اُسے پورا کرنے میں دیر نہ کرنا۔ رب تیرا خدا یقیناً تجھ سے اِس کا مطالبہ کرے گا۔ اگر تُو اُسے پورا نہ کرے تو قصوروار ٹھہرے گا۔

But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee.

اگر تُو مَنت ماننے سے باز رہے تو قصوروار نہیں ٹھہرے گا،

That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth.

لیکن اگر تُو اپنی دلی خوشی سے رب کے حضور مَنت مانے تو ہر صورت میں اُسے پورا کر۔

When thou comest into thy neighbour's vineyard, then thou mayest eat grapes thy fill at thine own pleasure; but thou shalt not put any in thy vessel.

کسی ہم وطن کے انگور کے باغ میں سے گزرتے وقت تجھے جتنا جی چاہے اُس کے انگور کھانے کی اجازت ہے۔ لیکن اپنے کسی برتن میں پھل جمع نہ کرنا۔

When thou comest into the standing corn of thy neighbour, then thou mayest pluck the ears with thine hand; but thou shalt not move a sickle unto thy neighbour's standing corn.

اِسی طرح کسی ہم وطن کے اناج کے کھیت میں سے گزرتے وقت تجھے اپنے ہاتھوں سے اناج کی بالیاں توڑنے کی اجازت ہے۔ لیکن درانتی استعمال نہ کرنا۔
